Simple question really. When applying ravages (BOED) would a character subtract its cha modifier if it has a negative modifier?

Ravages say they apply cha bonus to dam, however, when the modifier is negative its called a penalty... so the wording confused me.

While you seemed to have figured it out, a lil tip for everyone to differentiate the terms here:

"Bonuses (+) and Penalties (-) are both Modifiers"

If something asks for "modifier", it includes any possible "penalty" you might have in the stat.

But if something asks for a "bonus" in a stat, "penalties" don't apply.

Yep. A monk for example doesn't get an AC penalty for having a negative Wis modifier.
