What are some cheap and easy ways to get a signal to allies when the party is split.

Something like "break this and it breaks 5 other identical tokens" or some such thing.

Races of Destiny has the Insignia of Alarm spell that is a Long range and area spell that gives a mental ping to everyone in the spell that's wearing the specially made insignia. It also has a few higher level spells that do actual things so you could potentially make a small set of things for alarm, and alarm with effect.

There's also Fell Conspiracy the feat from Exemplars of Evil which lets you do Message at will.

I think that you could do shenanigans with Enlarge, Widen, and arbitrary CL, but that last one also solves the thing by itself. Without getting into there, there's probably shenanigans you can pull with a familiar, wand of scrying, wand of one of the alarm spells, ranks in UMD, and then layering that into a web.

Something I've always wanted to do: Paladin using Light Lance (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/l/light-lance). Will be visible up to 14 miles, a scroll would cost 200gp. You be the judge if that is cheap :smallbiggrin:.

I recommend a scroll, or slot, of Horn of Pursuit (Inquisitor/Bard/Ranger/Paladin 1) as this is more or less its intended function. It would be audible to anyone in the area, so it's not stealthy.

Whispering Wind (2) (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=whispering%20wind) and its upgraded version Conversing Wind (4) (https://www.aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Conversing%20Wind) might be able to help. Of course both wind spells need to target a location, so you can split up but you can't all be moving. Also the wind isn't instantaneous, it takes 10 minutes to travel 1 mile.

Mage's Decree (6) (https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Mage%27s%20Decree) fixes this by no longer using the fickle wind as the carrying medium of the message, I guess, but it's extremely costly for a message spell.

It is Psionic but Mindlink is awesome thing to donate PP into. 10 mins per level per target. Gotta be close to start the Mindlink but no limit to range.

Sending stones are 1.4k and have no range limit but have a word limit (25 words) and are once a day

Rings of Communication are 2k and once attune can talk to any other Rings of Communication with no limit as long as your "friends" are within 1 mile.

Enduring Scrutiny (Complete Mage p. 103) is the answer here - one of my favorite spells. 6 different classes can cast it and it is legal to use with Chain Spell metamagic.
