Please join this, as advertised it is a requirement.

Please pick a speech colour (if you care to). Once we've got acknowledgement from everyone we'll begin in earnest. The initial IC post is just to get a thread up really - feel free to throw your own post up, but I'll be throwing us head first into things once we've got everyone's confirmed participation.

Some sheet adjustment notes:-
Common issue: Some people putting dexmods on initiative. Houserules remove this. You only get bonuses from items (eg. luckstone), class features, or feats (eg. Alert).
Infernally Clay - Leif is missing one of their free feats and their 4th level ASI, from what I can tell? Either that or they're missing both their free feats (one at 1st, one at 5th).

For the purposes of this game's level range, 100 exp per level, 5-15 exp per encounter (whether that be combat or otherwise) depending on difficulty.

The afternoon sun beats down on you; the air is hot and still. The sparsely settled lands of Elsir Vale are starting to grow monotonous, with a seemingly endless line of dusty flyspecks of towns. One such town, Drellin's Ferry, lies a few miles ahead of you. It's a settlement hard on the borders of the Witchwood, and the best place from which to begin exploring the nearby forest.




1. What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)?

2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)?
RHoD's uses Greyhawk's gods as their standard but it can be placed in most settings without issue as it's entirely self-contained, so do not worry about the greater lore or anything like that. We'll use the Greyhawk pantheon to save me some trouble replacing stuff but don't expect me to know anything about it; I'm unfamiliar with the setting.


3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?

4. What's the gaming medium (OOTS, chat, e-mail etc.)?
Forums. I usually use mythweavers for sheets, but if you’ve got an alternative (dndbeyond) that’s fine too.


5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)?
5th level – expect to go to 10th-11th. We'll be using a simplified experience track that I'll go into more once the game's recruited.


6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with?
Any non-magical weapons/armour, 1 common magic item of choice, 1 uncommon magic item of choice except no stat-setting items (eg. Headband of Intellect). Each character also receives two Potions of Healing. Spellcasters can claim up to 500gp of spell components.

There's very little in the way of shops or places to spend gold in this module, so I'll say up front that I will probably look to remove most gold/gems/etc. as loot and replace it with magic items and/or consumables instead. While I might mention gold as loot still, there'll be little point in tracking it and I don't want people to expect a big payoff when they get to town. Ditto for stripping corpses of non-magical weapons/armour.


7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes?
Any classes/archetypes from published stuff. UA generally approved but ask first. Homebrew generally approved but ask first; my homebrew (https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/8rX-wDZU5shA) included. Special backgrounds that give feats or extra spells are a no-go, so standard backgrounds only.

8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species?
Any races/archetypes from published stuff really except goblinoids. Be aware that if you're picking fliers there are a whole bunch of archers and other flying creatures in this campaign.

9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points?
27 Point Buy. HP take your average rather than rolling (with max at 1st as normal).

10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?
Good, or neutral at a stretch – you're heroes doing heroing, and RHoD is not the time for moral quandaries.

11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it?
Allowed, not fussed.

12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them?
People will roll their own dice. If you’re forcing a save against someone else, roll in your post to speed things up – can apply modifiers later. I’ll be doing the same.

13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.

14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)?
I don't really need one really, but assume you've been adventuring together for some time. Your latest venture rewarded you with a treasure map leading to Vraath Keep, which is what you're on your way to look into.


15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above?
Hack+slash/RP, probably not much puzzle solving.

16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?

The scattered human towns and villages of the area grew up
along the Dawn Way, an important east-west trade road linking
the heavily settled lands that lie northwest across the Endless
Plains with the exotic kingdoms and goods of the coastal lands
lying to the southeast. Much of the Dawn Way was built by an
ancient dwarf-kingdom that spanned the Wyrmsmoke and
Giantshield Mountains more than a thousand years ago. While
the dwarves are long gone, their roads, bridges and cisterns
remain in use to this day. After the dwarf-realm passed, the
presence of various monsters and raiders kept traffic along
the Dawn Way light for many years; few caravans dared the
long and dangerous trek. Few humans lived in Elsir Vale
during those years - only scattered settlements of druidic
folk who left behind little more than grassy barrows and stone
circles on the hilltops.

About five hundred years ago, the nearby city of Rhest
came to control the vale and a large swath of land north of the
Giantshields as well. Soldiers from Rhest secured the roads
all the way to Dennovar and beyond, creating a safe passage
for trade. More and more traders travelled the Dawn Way, and
the kingdom of Rhestilor grew wealthy on the tariffs exacted
from the passing merchants. Under the kingdom's shield, the
towns along the Dawn Way- Brindol, Talar, Terrelton, and
the rest -grew up from tiny hamlets or lonely soldiers' posts
to flourishing human settlements.

The kingdom of Rhestilor eventually collapsed under civil
strife, monstrous incursions, and magical blights, Almost two
hundred years ago, the city of Rhest was burned by a savage
horde out of the Wyrmsmoke Mountains. Although the warriors
of Rhestilor killed many of the goblins and their kind, the city
was abandoned and the already weakened kingdom broken. The
locks and canals surrounding Rhest fell in to disrepair, and the
Blackfens swallowed the ruined city.

In the years since the kingdom's fall, the towns of' Elsir Vale
have come to look after themselves. Most of the local lords,
such as Jarmaath of Brindol, still l hold titles derived from the
old kingdom of Rhestilor. While everybody knows that the
kings of Rhestilor are long dead, no new realm has arisen in
the vale.

Thanks for pointing out the missing feats. I had missed that in the homebrew rules. I went with Elemental Adept due to all the fire spells and +2 wisdom for better spellcasting.

She would've been happy just sitting around reciting poetry except for the goblin attack but... haha hahah haha can you just picture it? No.

Let me know how it'd make sense to join up with your little band* or if any of you might have a connection to mountains, small dragons, or past battles in the area. :smallbiggrin:
