if a monk became a half celestial would their fly speed be boosted by their speed bonus? the half celestial fly speed says base speed and the monk speed bonus is a enhancement but it's not really the same thing as a pair of magical boots.

what do magical boots have to do with it. the half celestial template grants wings which give the affected creature flight at double their base speed. if the base speed increases so does the fly speed.

Your base land speed is determined by your race and never changes. Characters with Fast Movement are moving faster than their base speed.

A typical human monk 3 with the half-celestial template would have a land speed of 40 feet (30 base + 10 enhancement) and a fly speed of 70 feet (30 * 2 = 60 base + 10 enhancement). The monk's fast movement applies to all your movement speeds, not just your land speed. However, when half-celestial grants you a fly speed equal to twice your base land speed, it only counts your base speed, not any enhancement bonuses. It's also only calculated once, at the time you gain the template—and since it's an inherited template, it will generally apply before any modifiers to your speed from class levels, magic items, or acquired templates.

so then if a 20th level monk ever got say a ring of solar wings they would have 210 flight speed? 150 base +60 enhancement? man they would be hauling butt.

Just as well, because running away is about the only thing the monk does well :D
