I'm about to start a new pirate campaign for 5e and I'm looking for suggestions on the best system for nautical ship-to-ship combat. Ghosts of Saltmarsh? A third party system from Drive thru or DM's Guild?

For whatever it's worth I thought the High Seas rules from Mage Hand Press (https://magehandpress.com) were quite good. Sadly I cannot find the PDF on their new website but maybe you can or someone else has a link.

There are some rules in GoS as I recall. Honestly, that adventure is a few pretty loosely linked together modules that would probably work well in conjunction with your own campaign.
I had some old 2e stuff I incorporated as well when I DMed GoS.
