Hey guys,

my lvl 10 party is traveling to Iriaebor, a large city in Western Heartlands. Party's main goal is getting magical items and to trade in a bunch of loot they have on them. I am familiar with some more well known towns like Neverwinter or Baldurs' Gate, but no so much with with Irieabor. I have read what I could find online (https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Iriaebor and other sources), but I wonder about a few things:

- since Irieabor is a large city, what sort of magic items could be acquired? Party has several 10k gp at their disposal. Prior to Sunderning and Spellplague, magic items were abundant, but now in 5e, not so much. What kind of items could be bought and in what ways would a party have to acquire some of the higher level items(no artifacts, but many under this power level)?

- if anyone is more familiar with Irieabor, what mercantile places are to be found there? I got access of inns and taverns list, I know about temples and local government. But trade shops for higher-end adventurers are rare. There is also an abundance of rich caravans visiting the city, so perhaps this would be a good option.

- Are there any places of non-generic significance in Irieabor? Example being "Give Me Wings to Fly" shop, which sells flying mounts(in my setting ATM they only have griffins and Hippogriffs to sell.

What I'd need is an old, hardened resident of Ireabor to sit down with me and say "So, you want to hear about Ireabor, City of a thousand spires, laddie? Let me tell you..."

thanks

Unfortunately, everything I know about it is at the link you posted. Sorry. But at least that wiki is good about listing its sources, which in this case is primarily a handful of novels and Ed Greenwood. The other embedded links in the article can tell you a bit more by association, but can also open distracting rabbit holes. I'd say unless your players are avid fans of the books, just use what's there as a foundation and make the rest up. That's what I'm doing, but I wish I had actual answers. :smallconfused:

Forgotten Realms Adventures (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/16797/Forgotten-Realms-Adventures-2e?affiliate_id=315505) has a couple pages about Iriaebor... right after the Time of Troubles.

The Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/28729/Forgotten-Realms-Campaign-Setting-3e?affiliate_id=315505) for 3e is a bit later... but it's only got a couple paragraphs.

Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/16845/Volos-Guide-to-the-Sword-Coast-2e?affiliate_id=315505) also has a few pages on Iriaebor.
