Generic Arcane Guild Template

This template presents a basic structure for an Arcane Guild, a cooperative organization of arcane spellcasters who pool their resources together for the benefit of all members. This guild is dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and magical power. The guild's structure is designed to foster cooperation and exchange among its members, offering benefits such as access to shared resources and a communal spellpool.

The template provides a flexible framework that can be adapted to fit various campaign settings and specific guild concepts. Guilds using this template could range from a clandestine society of wizard scholars, a loose association of wandering sorcerers, to a highly organized and bureaucratic institution of magical research and development.

Symbol: The symbol of an Arcane Guild typically involves some combination of common magical or scholarly motifs, such as a stylized book, an arcane circle, a wand, or a staff.

Background, Goals, and Dreams: The Arcane Guild is a community of spellcasters who share their knowledge and resources. The guild's main goal is the advancement of arcane knowledge and power. This could involve the recovery of lost spells, the acquisition of magical artifacts, the development of new magical techniques, or the exploration of previously unknown magical theories. The ultimate dream of the guild is to become a significant center of arcane power and knowledge.

Enemies and Allies: The Arcane Guild is likely to encounter opposition from those who fear or distrust magic, from rival spellcasting groups, and from organizations that seek to control or restrict the use of magic. On the other hand, the guild is likely to find allies among other scholarly institutions, magical academies, libraries, and any group or individuals who value the free exchange of ideas and knowledge.

The template also includes a system of affiliation scores, titles, benefits, and duties, which can be used to track a character's standing within the guild. This system is based on the character's level, skills, feats, spells, and actions. The benefits of membership can include access to the guild's resources, such as libraries and labs, and a shared spellpool.

This generic Arcane Guild template is intended to be a starting point for DMs who want to include a spellcasting organization in their campaign. Feel free to modify and expand upon this template to create a guild that fits your specific needs and ideas.

At 1st level, they gain Spellpool I privileges (access to spells of 1st to 3rd level). At 2nd level, they gain Spellpool II (access to 4th- to 6th-level spells). At 3rd level, they gain Spellpool III (access to 7th- to 9th-level spells).
