PF 1e Catfolk FCB question

Ok so the class bonus for a Catfolk with a Monk is that they add 1/2 to the claw or claw blades damage right? What does that mean? Ok so a claw blade is 1d4. So say I roll a 2, do I make that a 3? Because I add 1/2 of the Claw Blades dmg? What happens if I take this bonus for an additional level? So I add the dmg twice? So 2 becomes 4?

You add L/2 damage, where L is your level. I believe you round down.

So level 1, no bonus.
Level 2-3, +1 damage.
Level 4-5, +2 damage.

So basically half your monk level as damage. So a lvl 20 would add a +10 to damage with strike of their claws. Which given at lvl 20 you would have 6 attacks without ki thats +60 dmg thats not awful.

You have to use claw or claws blades for that bonus, so you're sacrificing the better damage die from your unarmed strike to use that FCB. 1d4+10 is better than 2d10, but not by much(12.5 vs 9 average damage).

True but Ascetic Style would let me use my unarmed bonus on the claws. Since the FCB adds that Claw Blades are a monk weapon for the Catfolk who uses this FCB. So it would be 2d10+10 which is 21 (Also wouldn't 2d10 be 5.5+5.5 9 would be 4.5 right?)

I think that should work. And yeah, 2d10 should be 5.5+5.5 for 11.
