The 3.5 prc would be utterly horrible it it weren't for it's 10th level class feature that turns the character into an outsider. But this leads me to two questions.

First, it doesn't say that it also gains the native sub type. This means that you don't need to eat or sleep, but still can be rez'ed as per the features description. Seems like the best of both worlds. This hasn't been errata'd or clarified anywhere, has it?

Second, is the material still considered your home plane, or would it now be the Abyss or 9 hells (depending on which type you choose)? So if you are slain on a different plane, you would reform on your native plane as per 3.5 rules?

Well, they can just BE native. They ARE native to the material prior to the symbiosis and the ability text says they gain the other benefits of being native. The native subtype is a subtype that just is if the creature is native to the material. Take a look at the half-fiend and you'll see that they are "normally native outsiders" with no rules about what makes them native. They just are if they are native. They don't have to be though.
