Subclass Contest XXXVII: Make a Choice!

Voting Thread!

Make a Choice: Multiple choice? This is not the pop quiz you feared. We offer options here! Think of the Totem Warrior Barbarian or the Hunter Ranger. Even look at the Artificer's Infusions and the Four Elements Monk. It's like making a subclass within a subclass! Maybe you want to focus on different types of weapons, maneuvers, gadgets, or study. Don't feel restricted by the limits of just one choice. Let's see some variety!

Remember, anybody can vote! You don't need to have participated in the contest to vote here.

List your top three subclass entry votes. (#1 is worth 3 points. #2 is worth 2 points. #3 is worth 1 point.)
You may not vote for your own entry.
List your top three theme votes. (#1 is worth 3 points. #2 is worth 2 points. #3 is worth 1 point.)
The winner will be determined by most total points.
In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by most #1 votes. If still tied and only one creator voted, that creator will be declared the winner. If both voted, the tie will stand.
Creators can't edit the entries during the voting phase.

Subclass Vote:
1. The Zettel Artisan: Cannot say enough about how much this improves the Fighter as a class, giving a fluid fighting style thats actually, you know, a historical fighting style is very nice.
2. Ringer: Love the arcane thief flavor relating to the mechanics.
3. Primal Magic: A neat druidic sorcerer which now that I think of, its a bit odd we don't have in base dnd. Improved a lot from the original version!

Thematic Vote:

1. Calling Card: Gacha Sorcerer, spend money sorcery points to give buffs to random summons.
2. Well, That's Fortunate: Kinda thinking of doing a last second healer, maybe a druid? Circle of Regrowth?
3. Something Borrowed: A Barbarian Artificer. Basically a self enhancement alchemist.

Going to give a shout out Artificer: I Choose You! (Pokemon Trainer), I think its well made but I'm not a massive fan of use a random beast you find style mechanics.

1. Zettel Artisan: This is a great concept; I especially like that moving between stances is mandatory, rather than an imposition on your action economy.

2. Pokemon Trainer: This could form a solid basis for either a subclass in a traditional campaign or a template for a 5e approach to Pokemon. In a non-Pokemon campaign, I think it could benefit from generic starter stat blocks as opposed to being dependent on encountering low-level monsters and animals, though.

3. Ronin: A nice martial-flavored rogue subclass.

Next contest:
1. Calling Card
2. Warriors of Old

Heres my votes!
1. Zettel artisan. It's like mine except waaay better!
2. Rogue ronin. Makes me kinda like the rogue. Honorless gambits are really neat.
3. Warlock the elements. The elemental harmony is such a cool idea.

1. Bunch of fives

Zettel Artisan #1: Best use of the choice theme. Choice needs to be made frequently and is meaningful.

The Elements #2: Solid differences in your choices but the cool down is quite long.

Primal Magic #3: Some nice significant choice on level up. Not so much in-between.

Themes
1. Calling Card
2. Something Borrowed
3. Warriors of Old

#1: The Ringer - Choosing facsimiles and trinkets is a fun way to customize the subclass, and I'm a sucker for some build-a-bear concepts. It also does an exceptional job of keeping the magical society relevant.

#2: Zettel Artisan - The stances offer a good amount of options all throughout, but it's a strong learning curve. Understanding your enemy and making the right stance decision is vital to being relevant. Even so, it's very well done and provides enough options to account for most opposition.

#3: Ronin - Just barely edges in here above a couple others. I love the insight on your enemy well enough for debilitating inflictions, not to mention having a lot of different options.

And my preferred themes:
#1 - Something Borrowed
#2 - Pen is Mightier than the Sword
#3 - Warriors of Old

I am absolutely beaming right now. I'm so glad that other folks found the stance-shifting idea as cool as I did.

Looking forward to the next contest!
