We’ve been playtesting and tweaking this homebrew feat for almost a year. It’s played well at a few tables in a few sets of hands, but the time has come to share it here and find out if it sucks or doesn’t work for any reasons we might have missed.
Or if someone else has done a version of it before that we’ve missed.
Or best of all, that somebody has an idea to tweak it and make it sing.
Without further ado…

Speaking with Steel-
You are an artist with your long and short blades and can be quite disarming. While you hold a Rapier in one hand and a Dagger in the other:
-You gain +1 to your Armor Class.
- After attacking with the Rapier, you may use a bonus action to make a melee attack with the dagger, plus its modifier.
If the dagger hits, the target must make a Dex saving throw. On a successful roll the target takes the weapon damage and a stinging wrist. On a failed roll it not only takes the damage it also drops one item from its hands (whichever you were aiming for) at its feet – disarmed.

Thoughts? Emotions?

well...you need to define what the save DC is. you should also specify what you mean by 'make a melee attack with the dagger plus its modifier' means...im assuming that you intend that to mean the you can add *your* modifier to the damage?

oof. yeah, that information would be helpful.

the save DC=8+PB+Dex.
and yes, you add *your* modifier to the damage. I described that poorly.

Thank you.

in that case its fine. i mean, its a straight sidegrade from the duel wielder feat. you trade the damage buff of being able to TWF with 2 rapiers for an at-will disarming attack, minus the damage bonus.

I assume you mean on a successful save they take the damage. Not sure what a stinging wrist is, is there mechanics involved? Is it an item? Is the owner of this feat handing out wrists that can sting people?

The language looks like it can be cleaned up a bit. Like, I get the gist of it it just reads a little clunky. When do you target the item? Before or after the attack or save was made? Maybe sharing similar language with the DMGs disarm action would make it sound clearer.

"Disarm
A creature can use a weapon attack to knock a weapon or another item from a target’s grasp. The attacker makes an attack roll contested by the target’s Strength (Athletics) check or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If the attacker wins the contest, the attack causes no damage or other ill effect, but the defender drops the item.

The attacker has disadvantage on its attack roll if the target is holding the item with two or more hands. The target has advantage on its ability check if it is larger than the attacking creature, or disadvantage if it is smaller."

what language would it share with that? he's going save based rather than ability check based. the sting wrist occurs on a successful save and has no mechanics written or implied, so its obviously there for flavor. the only language that needs ot be cleaned up already has been. or at least has already been clarified.
