Hi playgrounders! I've gotten a lot more free time in my schedule and thought I'd give running a game of Lancer another go. The general pitch is going to be that your a Mirror Smoke Mercenary Company of Lancers contracted out by Union Intelligence to pursue one of their own to the Long Rim. To the planet Trast. Originally discovered and settled by late Sec-Comm imperialist elements, the planets subsequent compliance with ThirdCom and bringing it into the fold by IPSN's subdivison Trunk Security has also ensured that at least two of the Big Four have a vested interest in the planet's development, to say nothing of others with Union sympathies, or those all there own, cultivated in the last frenzied wave of cosmopolitans to come and stay planetside. To keep things simple we're going to be starting at licence level (LL) 0. I've included some stuff below about a general history of Trast (the planet we're playing on). If this is your first time playing Lancer please use comp/con (https://compcon.app/) to create your mech & character. There is a lot of lore to Lancer other than what I've included below, but this youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@11dragonkid11) is very effective at summarizing both mechanics and the game's world. I am looking for 3 players minimum, 5 maximum (ideally one player per role), and maybe one or two spares. Feel free to use any supplemental material apart from material from third party sources.


Simon Trast, the planet's namesake and ostensibly the man who discovered it, was part of the hard right leaning elements that made up Union's Second Committee, but fled at the height of the rebellion. Armed with nascent mech data & frames from proving grounds like Hercynia, mech technology more or less advanced at parity with the rest of the galaxy despite the imperialists relative isolation. Following the re-establishment with fringe elements at the creation of the Armoury proper (following Third Committee's Utopian Pillars assuming control of Union's mandate), the call to come in from the cold was refused with out and out threats of hostilities from Trast. Negotiations broke down, in no small part due to the time in between hastened diplomatic communications. And Trunk Security was contracted to bring peace.

IPSN's security wing was fast in conducting a brutal war that saw the imperialist dynasties of Trast fractured along three broad dogmas of soldiering, science and engineering. But Trast had prepared and what started as a highly efficient strike to cripple key imperialist infrastructure soon devolved into a bloody grind of a campaign, enduring even in the face of the original Trast's capture and execution by Trunk Security. What followed was a tentative peace that saw Union establish a nominal authority localized to the megapolis of Armistice on the sole continents southern end, and the right for those still loyal to Trast-and those who had found Union much more palatable in the wake of the war-to self govern within the scope of Union's oversight. The passage of time and Trast's seclusion from galactic politics at large has gone a long way towards stymieing this oversight. The dogma-centered dynasties persist to this day, and while they pay lip service to Union, it is an oft spoken fact that the Three are the true authority on Trast when one steps outside of Armistice.

Geographically speaking, Trast is a Pangea planet that can be ascribed two (formerly four) areas of governance: Union and Non-Union. Center-trast is a vast, verdant plain that gives way to steppe the further one goes north, east or west. The west and east are both belted with large mountain ranges, ones that end a little ways into the former and continue onwards until the ocean in the case of the latter. The Sky Tyrants of the West have begun to weaponize the weather itself to not only hoard what scant foods are available in their domain for themselves but to do so to deprive others in the surrounding ranges the same nutrience. Administrator Singrin Castella, has not heard back from the team she sent east to rectify this gross redistribution of resources. The Anatomist Clades of the east have sunk vast civic archologies to the east oceans floor, from which they are said to have harvested everything and everyone one they could have from the surrounding estuaries and swamplands. Only the brave-those few who stayed behind from Trunk Security-guard Armistice against this threat from the eastern mountains. And from the frigid north where Trast's Heirs sit and wait, it is rumoured the warlords are offered council by a turncoat from Union Intelligence. And, it is also rumoured, that their vanguard is weeks away from its march on Armistice itself. Speaking of, Union governs from the south, a humid, tropical landscape where most of the planet's breadbasket can be found. Administrator Castella is, by all MSMC sourced accounts, making the best of what is a very difficult situation.



We just started, and Noble our valiant DM had some awesome success in RL, which didn't allow them time to run the game, so I have decided to step up and see if I can run it.

Looking for ~3 new players, lets keep it all core right now as im learning. (unless RdMarquis and Kubuler (both players in the game and will be helping me) suggest otherwise)

Jack was born on Trast in what would become one of the Anatomist Clade's cities, growing up while the war with Trunk Security was still going on. Naturally, given the grinding, arduous nature of the conflict, those with medical knowledge were highly valued, and so Jack got a doctor's education (well, a truncated, expedited version that he's had to supplement with real-world experience in the years since) before heading out into the warzone to do what he can to stem the tide of casualties. Military, civilian...the losses suffered in the war kept climbing, and eventually...put simply, he broke before the war did. There was so much, and he couldn't stop it all...it felt like fighting a wildfire with a canteen of water, and eventually wore down on him enough that he had to escape. People were constantly trying to get away from the warzone, of course, so he was soon able to secure a spot on a transport offworld, headed for Union space, leaving those who he'd promised to help behind to fight and die in great numbers.

He tried to make a new life out among the stars, trying to find somewhere to settle, but that never happened. He fell into a cycle in these years, ending up somewhere new, trying to find a place for himself - easier than you might think given that medical knowledge is rarely not needed - but always finding himself...unsatisfied. On edge. Missing something. Incapable of settling, he'd soon be gone again, on yet another transport to another world to try and fail again. He still values this time in his life, the chance he had to see what life outside of war looked like, but it wasn't...he couldn't just settle like that.

Eventually, life brought him into Mirrorsmoke. Mercenaries needed patching up at an above average rate, after all, and while it brought him back into proximity with war, there was something...freeing about having a focus on Mirrorsmoke personnel, rather than being one man trying to put out an inferno. He never said that to anyone, feeling a ashamed of the thought, but it was true. It also meant moving around all the time, so he didn't have to face that nagging feeling of not belonging anywhere - can't start settling down somewhere if you're always moving. Not too long into his career at Mirrorsmoke, someone in command had the idea of seeing how he did in the cockpit - he'd been spending some of his time helping out some of his new friends in the mech bay, and it seemed like he had a knack of fixing the things, so why not see how he did actually piloting them? Turned out he wasn't half bad, and he soon found himself getting training in piloting and weapons, along with his voluntary time helping his friends becoming more deliberately instructional, giving him the skillset he might need up there. A couple of simple, low-intensity assignments to make sure he didn't fall apart in an actual fight, and here he was with his first major, meaty assignment.

He never anticipated where that assignment would be, though. Trast. Home again.



Jack is a tall, gaunt man, with messy blonde hair and eyes that seem calm but betray at least a little of his constant worries to the perceptive observer who isn't fooled by the positive outlook he puts on for the others. Age-wise, he's on the older side of the team - time lost to interstellar travel may have eaten up the vast majority of the years since he left Trast, but he's had to live some of them the traditional long way. The gear he carries suits his medical background in some ways, with a handful of scattered small packs full of various bits and pieces of medical equipment along with a hardsuit built for mobility and getting up to those who might need help. In other ways, it's less of an easy fit, primarily in the firepower he carries, pairing a machine pistol sidearm with a full-blown missile launcher - Mirrorsmoke wasn't satisfied with him just carrying a small pistol, so he decided to give them what they apparently wanted and went for the other extreme, even if he much prefers not having to use them.



Jack's mech is a big heavy thing, standing taller than the average GMS mech despite a somewhat hunched posture. He's still not entirely used to engaging in direct firefights, and so has outfitted his mech to unload a lot of firepower from a distance before needing time to reload, in the hope that it'll end battles more quickly than more conservative loadouts, while the mech's smoke launcher and deployable cover allows him to provide a degree of protection to the team. Internally, he's rigged the mech up with more fine-tuned lifesign sensors than the norm (little use in a mech battle, but it means if he has to do any actual doctoring the mech can spot people in need for him), while on the outside he typically gives the mech a blue and white paintjob - similar to the old uniform he wore as a medic in wartime Trast. He's not quite sure why he still honours those colours, given he ran away from them and the more violent nature of his current line of work, but he does nonetheless.

This code differs from the thread but it's the same as on Discord. Dunno if I flubbed something up but making a new one, so just let me know if this is messed up.

Early on, hitting up Iskander. If at all possible, I'd love to request the Demolitionist talent tree from Operation Solstice Rain. It's an official release and the lcp files are free to put into your comp con. It's fine if not, explosives are a tiny bit underpowered, but Iskander can still make good use of them.

But yeah going into mines for damage and control and the build is super flexible after that. Can go Gravity Gun for control or Heavy Machine Gun for dakka. Might go Raleigh 1 for breech charges, Drake for shields, or any of another hundred things.

Lola Flint started her pilot career as an excavator and worked in mines, quarries, and archeological dig sites. She piloted a industrial frame designed for the heavy work and to withstand the high explosives she commonly handled. Underpaid and underappreciated, Lola's engineering degree was being wasted in her backwater home. With Mirror Smoke, she was able to take her talents to the stars, for a price. Though often a bit unsavory at times, her experience with piloting, construction, and demolition are used in military applications. Still, it was worth it to get out of that rut she was in, right?

Pilot Bio: A young soldier from a diasporan system, a planetary cluster embroiled in civil conflict and revolution whose imperial homeworld maintained a rigid caste system. Born to a warrior-caste family and conscripted once his initial training was complete, Tesshin quickly distinguished himself on the battlefield against the imperial military. When an MSMC detachment arrived on-world (their services bought by the warlord's of Tesshin's homeworld), he participated in the final battle to capture the imperial palace (the services of MSMC bought with the wealth of the palace's coffers). Though his world was now free, Tesshin's family, and most of his friends, had been wiped away by the war's shifting tides, and with little to his skillset besides warfare, he chose to depart his world alongside the mercenaries, wanting to see the "outside" and learn more about the world, and himself, before returning home.

Pilot Appearance: Owing to the early warrior curriculum and conscription age of his homeworld, Tesshin is young for a pilot of his calibur, being around twenty-three-years-old. He has tanned skin and a wild shock of hair, mostly black, but some bleached white due to combat augments and drugs overtaxing his system. His lean, muscular body has a fair number of scars, most visibly a dueling scar on his face. He wears primarily tough, durable and weathered clothing, his hardsuit a custom fit from one of his homeworld's armorers.

Basic intention at the moment is to go into the HA Tokugawa (a solid striker build), but that could easily shift to the SSC Metalmark if it looks like the higher maneuverability and invisibility tech will turn out more valuable than raw damage. If this build ever did want to bridge out of core-only territory (probably by adding on Atlas features), it wouldn't be until at least LL4, well into pretty much any given campaign. Speech color will be Saddle Brown.

I think I might be reworking my backstory slightly since it seems like DrakeRaids is no longer with us. Probably going to respec Bonded as well for the same reason.

Buildwise I'm looking at exploiting the oracle LMG from the Swallowtail license for a mid-long range sniper build. It's the only Aux Rifle in the game meaning it can benefit from both Crackshot and Gunslinger.
