What to pair with Beholder Mage

Let’s momentarily ignore Class entry. What class(es) pair up well with Beholder Mage?

Now, on to caring about the entry method. Presumably, if one entered the class by actually being a Beholder, their ECL would be 20+ by the end of the class, and any potential class has to be better than taking levels in Epic Beholder Mage, better than (presumably) getting bonus Epic feats.

OTOH, if the campaign allows an Elan to qualify through polymorphing hijinks, then the proposed class has to be better than my joke entry of Beholder Mage 10 / Illithid Savant 10+.

So, what would you pair with Beholder Mage, if not just more Beholder Mage levels?

Imho most would just pair it with a divine caster and then go Mystic Theurge or Arcane Hierophant. Basically the same as with Ur-Priest.

Another option would be to make a very powerful gish character.

If you wanna get really cheesy, use Southern Magician to enter Hierophant (https://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/hierophant.htm) for the extra power (bonus caster lvl; maximize negative energy damage; turn touch spell into ranged touch;...).

Jose & Manuel are certainly an interesting take on a Beholder Mage. And not a build I've ever heard anyone discuss before. It's worth some thought.

The Dvati race is just optional thou, because we got some extra xp to buy off LA for the contest. But the race can be changed if needed.
