System: D&D 5E
Player Count: Four at most
Style of Play: Adventure! Justice! Public relations! Vengeance!
Allowed Content: If it's not on the list, don't ask.

Character Creation: Mythweavers preferred, but anything I can easily read is acceptable

Backstory: Skirt length
Experience: 5th Level Gestalt
Wealth: You get one rare and one uncommon permanent item. You may trade these down at a 1:2 ratio (so one rare becomes two uncommon, one uncommon is two commons, so on and so forth). You also start with two rare consumable items, and may trade these down as well. Finally, start with as much mundane gear as you could reasonably expect to have on you-no price limits, but also no mounts.
Ability Scores: Pick six numbers. These are your pre-racial stats. No number may be higher than 18 or less than 8. You may modify them freely up until the game starts, and may pick duplicate numbers.
Hitpoints/Health: PHB Standard
Alignment: Good-see other notes

Other Notes: No Ravnica backgrounds.
No multiclassing.
You gain the higher hit die from your classes.
You gain weapon, tools, and armor proficiencies from both classes.
You gain three saves total, chosen from among any saves available to your classes. If you can only pick two, you must pick those two, but then gain an extra free pick of save proficiency.
You may take skills from either class's list, and take the higher number of skills to gain from class.
You gain equipment from one class only. If you need essentials from another class (for instance, a Fighter//Wizard without an arcane focus) just ask, and you can have it.
Spellcasting is kept entirely separate on leveling, but in play, you can use slots from both sides for either side's spells.
A level five Wizard//Fighter (not EK) has the normal slots of a level five Wizard.
A level five Wizard//Cleric would have eight 1st level slots, six 2nd level, and four 3rd level.
A level five Wizard//Paladin would have eight 1st level slots, five 2nd level, and two 3rd level.

In play, you can use any slots for any spell you know or have prepped.
For ASIs, you gain them from both sides, but no stat can be raised by more than 2 at any level.Yes, Crowley's a fiend. But he's (mostly) redeemed, in heart if not in his place in the universe. So y'all are some of the good guys.
Your father is a man of no small power and influence. Crowley is his name, and he resides in Indos, the single most wealthy city of the material plane. He has his fingers in all manners of business, from the thieves' guild to the nobles to the merchants. Everything, more or less.
Crowley is also a being of the lower planes. A fiend, a cruel taskmaster of hell, an abyssal heritor. While few know of his true nature, you are his children-it'd be irresponsible as a father to lie to you in that way. And... Well, he's been about the best dad you could expect. He didn't personally sire any of you-he's a little beyond such carnal relations-but he took you in when you needed a parent. And he raised you, raised you to be the best version of yourself that you could be.

Everything was going just about perfectly... Until the Plume arrived.
The Order Of The Shining Plume, a group of crusading and fortified knights, had learned of Crowley's nature. Their most powerful strike force-the Golden Avengers-came to your home.
They defeated your father. Dragged him to the streets, confessing his sins and revealing his nature. And banished him to hell.

You are now without a father. Without his name to rely upon. With only what you could carry with you as he told you to flee.
Something must be done.

Salovair "speaking" and thinking, both in saddle brown.

As a full elf, I expect Salovair to be the oldest of the bunch. With the exception of Terric, but then we don't know this.
Salovair is known to be friendly and helpful to the others. He is especially eager to engage in any kind of competition, as long as it is reasonably fair.
He has told and shown his more unusual powers at some point, finding common ground with Flit in psionics. But personal details were never volunteered, and rarely answered directly or fully when he was pressed.

As Hof did the updated table I won't need to link her sheet.
However, I will add in the paragraph I included when I posted her.
Danny is that artsy child who loves to be active, and engaged and is probably a little annoying to her siblings. But also being one of the youngest and smallest is probably also the one they might get into fights if someone ever picked on them. She is a dancer by trade, she loves acrobatics. She is also a little bit of a book nerd. More than a time or two one of her siblings has caught her reading a book while doing a handstand or bent over in some tumbler pose that looks downright unnatural. It benefits the playful scamp to also be a changeling allowing her to change her appearance to whatever she feels bests fits her shows. But she always loves to hear stories and eagerly listens to her siblings and father tell about their day. She was one of the most visibly emotional on the day of her father's banishment, but also one of the first to try and cheer up her siblings.

Danny will be speaking in Bold Navy Blue wth her thoughts and such being in 'This format'

I am open to any communication on the interpersonal interactions of the siblings. I do view Danny as the youngest.

Terric will be using Green speech.

As far as what the other kids know about Terric, I don't think his conditional immortality is common knowledge. He'd be real cagey about that, but in rare circumstances some of you might've seen him be shockingly cavalier with his own life. What they would know is he first arrived about ten years ago, but wasn't really seen for a couple years after that and even then was very shy. He's warmed up to everyone in the past few years and in that time he's been the nice, responsible kid, the one you go to when you have a problem, a cold, a scraped knee, etc.

Terric also would have taken Crowley's banishment hard, but not in the way you'd expect. He's been angry, which is very weird for him. He would've kept it together to hold a private funeral, but he's been seething about the ordeal since.

I stole the relevant parts of the table from the application thread. Do you want me to add anything else?
When I checked in earlier, you just beat me to it. Nice, thank you!

Pleasure to be here! Flit will speak with red, if that's fine. And I'm feeling a little more info:

The banishment caught her way off-guard. From what she knew, sure, he had his hands in a little bit of everything, but he didn't do wrong by anybody. That's just a proper way to maintain good business. She couldn't fathom the injustice and had always been one to seek the truth. She just never really had motivation to do so before, at least not for anything that really mattered. But she knows how to utilize her frustration, something that he had helped her refine over the years. After being able to center her emotions, with the help of her siblings, she has been able to provide some comfort with her own logical perspective. She much prefers to consult with her siblings as opposed to dealing with others. As her mind generally tends to focus on the intricacies of whatever task happens to be most relevant, she is known for odd timing on her input.

Flit appreciates Danny's upbeat attitude, open feelings, book studies, and mobility (especially as she is known to move around quite a bit herself) as long as she's not terribly focused on something. But they've sort of worked it out through years of trial and error. When Flit's glasses go on, it's time to stop dancing around like a flippant butterfly. At least if you're going to do it, please do it over there.

They definitely would have shared plenty of psionic moments. Sometimes moving things around and testing each other's limits. Of course, Sal is significantly better at that sort of stuff. Flit just has a good time being able to learn from him and practice stretching the capabilities of her own mind.

Flit would be able to sympathize with Terric just a little bit. Being in the guild and some sketchy black market circumstances has put her life in danger several times before. She learned to defend herself and manifest some mental capability into reality, mind over matter. Naturally, the details of his past aren't common knowledge, but she has picked up on his ease of the concept of life vs death several times. Though she takes it more as a carefree spirit that merely isn't afraid, perhaps because of some deeper understanding.

Terric has some background with the Plume, but I'm gonna roll a Religion check before posting just in case. And maybe advantage since it's a subject he's familiar with.

Two things: History or Religion are both appropriate rolls for knowledge on the Plume, first off. Second off, if you think a roll might be needed, please roll it! It'll save lots of time than asking and rolling after.

Do note that, if a roll is NOT needed, I will disregard what was rolled, whether it's a 1, a 20, or anything in between.

The Order Of The Shining Plume has a long and storied past. Founded generations ago even by the longest-lived of races, they were made by divine decree, with five champions representing five different noble pantheons coming together to create it.

Initially, they were a relatively small group. They only accepted the most holy and pure, those touched by the gods themselves. But as the divine took less active roles in the world, they expanded, accepting more common warriors and priests. Eventually, they had to acquire plain old staff, to manage finances, logistics, all sorts of purely mundane matters.

They have had several scandals and crises in the past, including two schisms, one of which that was eventually mended, the other of which resulted in an offshoot organization that has cut ties with their parent. In the modern day, they don't operate much in the Indosian area, but where they do have active presences, they're quite well-liked. They support those in need, banish evil, and generally try to make the world a better place.

You do not know if those at the top have truly benevolent motives, or if it's a front for something more sinister, but on the ground level they're good folk.

Alright!

Just in case I learn something more.
[roll0] - History
[roll1] - Religion

Read the above spoiler for Religion, but with two 21s, I'll give a little extra.

The schismed group that did not refold into the Plume are known as The Silent Cabal. Despite the somewhat sinister name, they maintain the goal of helping those in need-but they tend to operate on a different scale. Whereas the Plume chases every shadow and ne'er-do-well, the Cabal focuses on more potent threats. Liches with aspirations of world domination, vampire covens converting cities, things like that.

They operate in the dark and silence, and there's no modern records of them. But they're probably still around.

I only now realized Crowley is a fiend, not a devil. I don't know where I got that from, the intro paragraph is clear enough.

Is it ok if I change my language choice from infernal to abyssal?

Lemme just check in with y'all here: What's your plan? Where should I be moving y'all towards next?

I'm reading the IC and seeing a lot of ideas for actions, so let's just confirm OOCly which you're going for.

Flit would go to nearest market area or a central guild point to meet a contact for lodging. Loving the idea of getting a message to their father if at all possible. Keeping a lookout for any and all signs of the Plume and how they operate.

Khosan
2023-07-13, 11:53 AM
Contacting Crowley will be very useful (and probably cathartic), we just gotta deal with the limitations of Sending. I might be stocking that one for a while, Terric just doesn't have it today.

In the mean time, first order of business, we definitely get in contact with the thieves' guild to get some secure shelter. Following that, I have an inkling that Crowley either wasn't totally clueless about what was coming or he might've been working on something recently that caught the Plume's attention. Either way, if we could get to his office/papers, there might be something of interest to us in there.

So, Imma make a quick Deception roll for Sal. He might not be telling an untruth, but he's hiding his feelings.

As mentioned before (I think), if you feel like a roll is needed, just roll it. Worst case scenario, it wasn't needed, and we can ignore it.

Oh, and...

If there's anything to see here, I've got it covered! :smalltongue:

Any other ideas? Flit is a determined girl! I'm looking forward to applying some of her Cobbler's tricks. Speaking of which, investigation checks concerning shoes could potentially clue her in on where people have traveled, and how much (for example).

Khosan

Nah. They're patrolling and ready, but they don't anticipate any badness in their immediate futures.

I'll go ahead and roll a Stealth check so that Flit isn't so incredibly easy to notice: [roll0]

If she's within range and you deem it possible, I would like to take advantage of her Cobbler's Investigation, looking at their shoes to determine familiar soil markings or damage. To see if any of the Plume have been through the shrubbery near one her favorite back doors. (I don't necessarily want to attempt tracking, as that feels like it's encroaching on Survival.)
Investigation: [roll1]

Typing all that, I forgot what else I was going to roll :smalltongue: ...umm, History? [roll2]

Oh yeah, do the secret entrances include longer tunnels and such that may start off-the-premises, as it were?

JNAProductions
2023-08-06, 04:06 PM
There are some tunnels that start further away.

And the two nearest guards both have shrubberized feet.

Hof
2023-08-09, 02:33 AM
What are shrubberized feet? The guards are standing in the bushes or something?

animorte

I requested to see if any of them had been through the shrubbery near one of the secret entrances (via investigating their shoes). Apparently so.

No, I think it's us players. We need to decide what we are going to do. Or at least make it explicit.

I had salovair ask a question to Danny, because I was unsure on their thoughts on the current situation. But that doesn't mean ThealmightyKue is the only one who gets to post, of course. I'm not going to follow up on my own post though, that seems like a breach of etiquette to me.

animorte
2023-09-20, 02:29 AM
I've also addressed Danny directly and I believe that was the first sign of slowing.

This timing is actually funny, as I was planning to make an amusing "in character" post here in the OCC to address the inactivity, with Flit going on about her business with or without the others.

Khosan
2023-09-22, 11:26 PM
I think we may've lost Kue, they haven't posted in the forums since late July.

As far as plans, Terric's excited about the idea of an angel (and maybe having someone else who'd empathize) but if he's outnumbered, he'll take the letters back to the golden cat with everyone else.
