Having finally received and reviewed my 5e Planescape set, I can now safely say that my worst fears are confirmed: the barmy Xaositects have been as deep-sixed as it is possible to be. Every other faction and former faction from the 2e version of Planescape at least gets a passing mention, but the Xaositects may as well have never existed.
As a DM, I not only understand why, I contend that it is the correct decision. This faction is mostly famous for the twin crimes of giving new players an excuse to not get invested in the story and an excuse to attempt to derail it. But they were always my favorite faction, and they provided a lot of levity, in an admittedly ham-fisted way, that was much appreciated. So I’d like to say a few words in their memory:
Continuous. Fried. Solemnity. Verisimilitude.
Thank you.
