Here's the OOC.


Here's game info. It'll be a generic kitchen sink fantasy setting that you were summoned into to serve as a hero to the kingdom of Regnum.

I'll admit I'm not very familiar with Spheres as I've not used it in any game previously. I know it's popular though so I'll be reading through the rules since I believe the creation of spells is a back and forth between player and GM.

If there's anything you want to have adjusted, feel free to say so since this is a solo game I will tailor it to you.

The BIG 16:
1. What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)?

PF 1e E6 game.

2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or home brewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)?

Isekai style game. You've been summoned from another world as a hero to save this kitchen sink fantasy world, though the ritual was botched and you didn't appear in your full power.

3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?

4. What's the gaming medium (OOTS, chat, e-mail etc.)?

OOTS forum PbP.

5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)?

3rd level.

6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with?

3,000gp, an everfull mug (water and/or ale), an everlasting ration, and a special Handy Haversack with no capacity limit.

If you have crafting capabilities, pre-game crafting is allowed.

7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or home brewed classes?

Any Dreamscarred Press, Spheres, or just about anything else you want to bring into play.

8. What races, sub races, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow home brewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species?

Anything you can fit into your starting level allotment.

9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points?

Just write your stats in, no more than 18 in a stat before racial bonuses.

HP is max for the first three levels. Afterwards it's roll half HD+half HD - meaning if you have a D10 HD, at level 4 and beyond you roll 1d5+5 for HP (d4 becomes d2+2, d6 becomes d3+3, d8 becomes d4+4, etc).

10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?

Alignment not in place for players, ignore alignment requirements on classes, prestige classes, feats, spells, etc.
They will be in place for monsters for the cases of DR/evil, smite evil, protection from chaos, and other such effects.
Any bizarre interactions with this will be dealt with when they arrive.

11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it?

No penalty for multi-classing.

12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them?

Make your rolls on the forum in spoiler tags in the In-Character thread (even if it means double posting), please label what the roll is for, and if you think a roll is justified, don't wait for me to call for it, just go ahead and roll it.
At times I will make rolls for you (Spot/Listen/Initiative most frequently). If you have active things that can alter these you may do so retroactively.

13. Are there any home brewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.

Most house rules are designed for ease of life and to improve game play experience opening up additional options:

Gestalt rules (will come into play later, probably)
- Theurge PrCs are negotiable if/when they come up, but they may lose some of their advancement
- Fractional BAB/Saves
- You only get the +2 bump for a good save once

You may choose to take up to two bonus feats for which you qualify as if you had taken 2 Flaws. Flaws themselves aren't allowed.

We are not tracking food/water.
We are not tracking encumbrance.
- My opinion is these aren't fun, so they're not part of my game.

XP will be gained very rapidly. Even things that are pretty mundane will award XP. We'll be using the fast XP advancement track.

XP can be spent in numerous ways, such as leveling up (up to 6), adding gestalt levels, gaining feats (cost based on the power of the feat), and affecting the setting in various ways.


14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)?

You can write as much or as little backstory as you want.

You're welcome and encouraged to write new things into the setting.

15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, role playing, or a combination of the above?

A blend as desired.

16. Are your Players restricted to particular rule books and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?

PF1e, Dreamscarred Press, Spheres, and 3.5 and 3.0 material available though I reserve the right to "update" 3 and 3.5 material for PF.

Notes:
When I present an obstacle, I don't predetermine solutions for overcoming that obstacle. If you have a creative solution that trivializes the encounter, you will still get the XP and rewards, but it also means some obstacles may be too challenging. Use your discretion on what you want to try to tackle.

Clarifications:
Magic-psionics transparency is in effect.
Versatile Spellcaster feat needs to be kept inside of the spontaneous casting class (so if you trade two Sorcerer slots, you can cast only a Sorcerer spell you know from a higher level, no trading two Sorcerer slots and then using your Cleric levels to spontaneously cast from the whole Cleric list or other such shenanigans, a Sorcerer//Favored Soul could trade two slots from Sorcerer for 1 level higher Sorcerer spell or 2 slots from FS for a 1 level higher FS spell, but they can't cross over).
Heighten Spell metamagic can only Heighten up to the highest level of spell you can normally cast.


You can add additional gestalt levels to your character.
1st level: 1,300 XP
2nd level: 3,300 XP
3rd level: 6,000 XP
4th level: 10,000 XP
5th level: 15,000 XP
6th level: 23,000 XP

So if your character is level 6 and you've gathered up 2,600 XP you could become a X 6 // Y 1 // Z 1 by buying two 1st level gestalts. Or if you have 4,600 XP you could become X 6 // Y 2 etc.

Feats on the level of Power Attack (good feats) will cost around 2,000 XP, based on my estimation of the feats value the cost will be adjusted from that base point. Here are feats that have been bought in one of my 3.5 games previously and their XP prices in no particular order.

Open Least Chakra (Crown) - 2000 XP - however, my ruling is this simply provides 1 Bind as long as it's in the crown slot so these feats could potentially be used as +1 Bind for incarnum characters as long as something is bound to the appropriate slot.

Attacks of Opportunity can't be used before your first turn in a combat unless you have Combat Reflexes or Uncanny Dodge, neither of which I see on your sheet.

I'd say any time your character is at rest. Thus, not mid-combat, but as soon as you have a few uninterrupted minutes to consider the experiences you've gained. You can also choose to not level and expend the XP on other stuff if desired.

The XP from the ranks is enough for Zareus to level up.

As an aside, I'm giving you 2x the XP for combats as calculated by this handy calculator (https://donjon.bin.sh/d20/xp/). Both the Gold Cloaks were level/CR 3 (Blue was 1, Red was 2). Just in case you were wondering.

In some cases like this, where taking 10 might not get you all of the information in the scene, I'll still roll and default to a result of taking 10 if the outcome would be lower. Thus, a floor of 19, but if you're entitled to try perception against something I'll roll to see if it happens to be higher than 19 (or whatever Perception for your level) this time.

Also, I like playing fast and loose in the player favor. You don't have to confirm crits. I'll just double / triple / etc the max damage roll if you crit. I make the monsters confirm and roll.

I think I may have read Energy Spark (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative-rule-systems/path-of-war/disciplines-and-maneuvers/elemental-flux-maneuvers/#TOC-Energy-Spark) incorrectly previously. Do you read it to be able to fire any number of rays as long as sufficient animus is expended or maximum of 2 rays (typically 4 total rays with my 6 starting animus)? Launching so many seems incredibly strong for a level 2 maneuver.

I read it as two max, because there's a 'both' in there instead of some other moniker. But I like the image of a nova type move. I thought it was cool, so we can keep the reading as we used it earlier.

Also, I took Quickening as my bound veil. It gives positive levels of killing something at a cr = 1/2 level. They don’t have a duration. Do you think that’s too OP to stack up? If so I can bind a different veil.

It's an isekai game, you're supposed to have some hacks. How about you can stack it, but the stack resets when you re-manifest and bind your veils?

They'll get superceded later with gestalt levels that have higher than D8 hit dice.

Also, it seems a foregone conclusion that you beat these four spiders. They almost can't hurt you and you're bringing them down at a reasonable rate. Want to fast-forward to the end of the combat or do all the rolls?

For the gestalt levels, we still don't gain any extra skill points unless the class has a higher amount than our first, or any feats unless they're bonus, correct? What about ability points when we get to 4?

I personally feel 1d10 rounds of Daze (how it's written in the PFSRD) is utterly excessive for solo play, so unless you're strongly opposed, I'm going to reduce it to 1 round.
