Are there any creature types defined outside of the Core rules? That is, other than Aberration, Animal, Construct, Dragon, Elemental, Fey, Giant, Humanoid, Magical Beast, Monstrous Humanoid, Ooze, Outsider, Plant, Undead, and Vermin?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Deathless? Not that I like it, but it's there.

Yep. If we only include 1st party, Deathless is the only creature type added outside of core 3.5.

Some unupdated 3.0 material has orphaned Shapechangers with no errata to assign them a new type, those kinda count.

edit: Beasts, too.

I think some online content had Psionic Beast as a type rather than Magical Beast (Psionic).

Edit: Crystal Gargoyle (https://web.archive.org/web/20200314182842/http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psb/20021025c), Onyx Worm (https://rpg.nobl.ca/dnd.php?x=dnd/psi/psi20020808a)

Pretty sure all Beasts became Animals in 3.5.

Some became Magical Beasts, like the hippogriff and the owlbear.

I stand corrected.

Alrighty. Thanks, everyone. Any more that can be found? There's lots of strange and unusual stuff tucked away in the odd corner, after all.

Not if you don't want to go into 3rd party territory. The Mass Effect D20 game for example uses the types Organic, Synthetic and Machine instead of the usual ones.

How about the joke content?
If it's OK, then Dragon #282 has "Snack Monsters: When Munchies Strike Back" article, which included such monsters as:
Pizza Slice (Gargantuan Triangulant),
Gummy Bear (Medium-size Ursaooze),
Lurking Dorito (Large Triangulant),
Jolly Rancher (Medium-size Oozelementamagical),
and Pepsioid (Regular-Size Carberration).

In 3.0, some of the Abominations from Epic Level Handbook had multiple types at once. The 3.5 update removed this.

There are also plenty of subtypes defined outside of Core, like (psionic), (dragonblooded) and (living construct).
