I am stuck at my computer, almost literally, as a result of back surgery. Yaaaaay.
I'm coping fine, and I have other ways to distract myself, but I wouldn't mind trying to start another game. (especially with my previous idea getting views, but not a single other post of interest. :smallsigh: )
In a past life here, I expressed an interest in seeing what Pathfinder was capable of. I'm a dedicated 3.5 kind of guy, and never switched over to PF, even though I knew it had a bunch of cool stuff in it. I tried a few times to switch over, and I feel like I could try again, at least before my free time dries up and I have to get back to work (at which point I mainly have weekends open for posts, though I do try to make a dedicated effort to check threads/projects I'm in daily).
I had 2 cliche leaning character ideas I wanted to explore, and I wonder if anyone would be willing to play alongside either character concept. I'm imagining us being united as a party, working with an escort of some type who helps drive the plot, possibly working with them to undermine some evil attempting to capitalize on a war going on between nations, just as a random idea for a game. And in that game, there are 2 roles I'm interested in considering:
Option 1: Frontliner Spellsword. The type to act immediately without thinking, and more than willing to put themselves in harms way to protect a comrade or challenge an unjust enemy (within reason; no launching into battles you have no chance of winning). Just at a glance on the SRD, I'm feeling Warlord//Sorcerer, chucking fireballs and buffing my swordsmanship (assuming no one else in the party does the latter for me). The last time I tried Pathfinder, I thought they had Fusion Swords somewhere in there, and I'd be *delighted* to swing one of those around, if not just a Buster Sword.
Option 2: The aforementioned escort themselves. A princess pretending to be just a scholar, who sneaks away from her family because of visions of catastrophe if some great evil isn't stopped in its tracks. Not strong enough to enforce those changes on her own, but the type to be able to support a party of gathered adventurers who could. This is an idea I'd directly tried in the past, and would be trying again, as I observe whether or not Healing and Support in Pathfinder can keep up more than it did in 3.5. A Righteous Bloodline Sorcerer // Pei-Zen Practitioner Oracle was the base for that build.
I'm also really interested in having my own animal companion. There was a 3rd party feat that offered a solid range of them, and mounts are really fun, even if I don't plan for mounted combat. For the fighter, a Horse would be a change of pace from me trying to ride more powerful creatures, though if we started anywhere that allowed a *flying* creature, that'd be rad. I won't hold my breath for a Dragon, but there've been plenty of super cool flying birds. For the Healer, I remembered finding out that Axe Beaks were basically Chocobos, and I was super into that back in the day. Little investment in her own self defense and she'd be super reliant on her party, but not *completely* defenseless with her pet around.

But yeah, a slightly tongue in cheek / stereotypical fantasy game sounds really good right about now. Preferably something mid level, so that we have enough resources to make fun and interesting characters, but might also be easier for the DM to work with.
