Ok, I am working out a villain for a campaign where the heroes are from another world with. Higher than normal levels, trope. Would this be too much of a trope of a Princess being a Warlock/thrall herd Controler type, that tries to get the party wrapped around her fingers and then just tries to have them killed because she views them as too dangerous to the kingdom and her plots to overthrow her older sister.

or would there be better ways to do it?

edit or would it just be better for to her haveing the king or empire declare them the new Deman lord and have dumber advertisers go after them and let the players be the villains by way of sercomstances?

The Villainous Competition had a "controller" ( https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?649810-Villainous-Competition-XLVIX-Controller!) round not too long ago, which you might want to check out for inspiration in that regard.

I'm calling them Princess (the younger sister), and Older Sister (OS). You say there's a king, which leads me to think the Older Sister isn't queen, she's another princess, who will be inheriting the throne and becoming queen.

Maybe the princess uses magic to impersonate the Older Sister and has assembled a few villains to support "her." They all think they're secretly working for the Older Sister, they don't realize the evil Princess is behind it. They believe the Older Sister is planning a coup, she's going to murder her father and declare herself queen, and the villains are going to help her. On the occasions the Older Sister pretends she doesn't know them, they assume it's so she doesn't reveal herself in front of other people.

The Princess tries to convince the party that she's trying to save the country from her Older Sister, that OS is going to overthrow the kingdom. The Princess figures that if the PC party wins she can then tell the kingdom that she, the Princess, saved them from the Older Sister and her villainous team. But, if the villains win, she'll come out against them and her Older Sister, claiming that she, the Princess had assembled some heroes to fight her Older Sister and her villains, but they lost. The Princess will say that she tried to keep this a secret, but her Older Sister is so evil, it's impossible to keep quiet any longer.

You need two things to make this work: the Princess has some magic item which allows her to impersonate people, and it also prevents her Alignment and thoughts from being detected, and the players have to understand that they're the good guys. Their characters can't be morally questionable or mercenaries, they're actually aspiring to be heroes.

The PCs will unknowingly start out as the villains, and depending on what happens will either realize somewhere along the way that the Princess is lying to them and she's the bad guy, or they'll win, still thinking they're the heroes. Then it's up to you. Do they go home thinking they helped the good guys, or do they stick around and realize that they doomed the kingdom? Will they try to start a rebellion? Who's going to trust them?
