Inspired by the dramadine gemstone featured in Rose Estes' Greyhawk novels and once held by Mika-Oba the Wolf Nomad, the Mystic Gems are a set of ten powerful artifacts. Each gem significantly enhances the spellcasting abilities of its bearer, with the effects stacking cumulatively with additional gems. Unique to these gems is their ability to guide their holders toward the others, a feature not originally present in the dramadine but adding an intriguing dynamic to their use.

Powers of Mystic Gems

Spellcasting Enhancement: Each Mystic Gem grants a significant boost to the bearer's spellcasting abilities in any spellcasting base class, including Warlocks. The first gem provides a +4 effective level increase to caster level, spells known, spells per day, and maximum spell level. This enhancement allows spellcasters (or invoking classes) to cast more powerful spells and access higher-level abilities sooner.

Stacking Mechanism: The power of the Mystic Gems stacks with each additional gem. Each gem beyond the first adds a +1 level increase to the chosen spellcasting base class. For example, possessing two gems results in a +5 level increase, three gems a +6 level increase, and so on, up to a maximum of +13 with all ten gems.
Mystic Gem Ability Score Bypass for Spellcasting: A Mystic Gem enables a spellcaster to cast spells of any level that they would be able to cast if not for a low ability score. This means that a spellcaster can learn, prepare, and cast spells at the highest level available to their class level, without being restricted by their ability scores. However, the Mystic Gem does not provide additional spells per day or bonus spells that are normally granted by higher ability scores; it solely removes the ability score limitation for accessing higher-level spells.
Directional Sense: Each Mystic Gem gives its holder the unique ability to discern the direction of the other Mystic Gems, regardless of distance or plane, until they are within a one-mile radius, at which point this sense becomes indistinct.

Restriction on Qualifying for Prestige Classes and Feats: Although the Mystic Gems significantly enhance a bearer's spellcasting abilities, including their effective caster level and the range of spells accessible to them, these enhancements do not qualify a spellcaster for prestige classes or feats that require the ability to cast spells of a certain level. The gems amplify a spellcaster’s current abilities but do not substitute for the specialized training, unique experiences, and personal growth necessary to meet the prerequisites for prestige classes or specific feats.

Appearance of Each Mystic Gem

Aurorite Gem: Deep blue with swirling silver patterns, glowing faintly in darkness.
Solarspark Gem: Vibrant yellow, pulsing like a contained sun, warm to the touch.
Tidebinder Gem: Sea-green with moving shades, occasionally showing tiny internal droplets.
Flarefrost Gem: Crystal-clear with a core shifting from red to blue, simultaneously cool and warm.
Verdant Growth Gem: Rich green with vine-like patterns, sometimes emitting an earthy scent.
Thunderstone Gem: Dark grey with bright yellow streaks, softly crackling in stormy weather.
Eclipse Shard: Black with a shimmering white halo, resonating with a hum during eclipses.
Windwhisper Gem: Light blue with white streaks, giving a sensation of a gentle breeze.
Starfire Opal: Fiery orange-red opal, sparkling more intensely in low light.
Voidheart Gem: Deep purple with a black center, absorbing light to dim its surroundings.

The powers detailed above approximate the power of the dramadine gemstone that Mika-Oba the wolf nomad owned. In the setting detailed in the books, there was more than one such stone in existence. I have elected to limit these to ten.
