View Full Version : Nale's new class

since Nale:nale: has been in the comics, they were making jokes about how his stupid combination of classes( fighter, rouge and sorcerer) gave him about the exact same abilites as his bard bro:elan: only more complex.

but now Elan:elan: has got some new abilities and magic from his prestige class. How will Nale:nale: possibly be an opposite of Elan's class now?

Will Nale:nale: take a bunch of stupid prestige classes to get the same abillites as the dashing swordsman, but more complicated? and so, which ones?

This question has already been asked. The answer which I considered most funny was:

Evil Mastermind prestige class :nale:

I didn't know that.

I think that's too simple for Nale :nale: anyways. he would have 3 or more classes in somthing you only really need one skill rank in.

Easy. That Charlatan (or similarly named) class from the Dragon Magazine that is pretty much as a BIG FAT LIAR class.

Evil Mastermind prestige class :nale:

Cannot be. Nale does not qualify for it. He is Evil, but he surely is not a Mastermind. I guess he should go for the Evil, Pompous Jerk's Overestimation Of One's Own Capabilities Prestige Class (abbr: EPJOOOOC-PC) .
He also qualifies for the "Wants To Be The Main Villian But Is Just Some Cheap, Second-Row Sideshow Villian Prestige Class" (WTBTMVBIJSCSRSV-PC)... ;)

I'm thinking Blackguard. Official core prestige class vs. weird homebrew prestige class. It also fits Nale's sneaky, look-at-me-i'm-so-evil rat bastard personality perfectly, and he's already got the friendly fiendish encounter nailed down.

I disagree. Nale may be definitley evil, but hes not the "I serve greater dark powers"-evil-dude. I think he's too selfish to subordinate himself to greater forces.

maybe he picked up dashing swordsman from Captain scoundrel.

I think you guys are missing the question.

I'm asking which prestige classes he will take. It needs to be needlessly compicated

Complete Scoundrel has Avenging Executioner, the perfect PrC for Nale.

Clearly, he's going to be a Fighter/Rogue/Sorcerer/Eldritch Knight/Arcane Trickster/Archmage. Because you've got to fit Archmage in there somewhere if you're a caster.

I don't think Nale is going to take any new classes. I kind of got the vibe that he had given up on the "evil opposites" theme in this strip (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0458.html). That could just be me, though.

Hrmm.. my bid for needlessly complicated but still stylishly effective class+prestige class combination is as follows:

Fighter/Rogue/Sorcerer/Blackguard/Warlock*/Doomguard**

*Gotta get double the Charisma bonus with Devil's Own Luck to add to Saves after all... Wickedly stylish dipping!

**It's nihilistic and Charisma-based, who could ask for anything more?!

After successfully beating everyone else to Girard's Gate and establishing it as his new stronghold dungeon, Nale will then take his next five levels in Dungeon Lord, so that he has all the Bond Villain tropes needed for a successful get-away and/or a mysterious death.

i'm guess he'll take his fighter/rogue/sorcerer levels and advance them with a mix of blackguard/assassin/eldritch knight/duelist. the duelist seems to complement the dashing swordsman while being core and not third party material.

His prefered weapon is a Longsword, though, and Duelists specialise in 1-handed piercing weapons. If he decided to retrain, what classes do you think he would take? Fighter/Beguiller (if his Int is high enough), or Marshall/Battle Sorcerer would work reasonably well for what he would want to do.

Abjurant Champion/Eldritch Knight/Knight Phantom/Spellsword/etcetc "Gish" PrCs.

If he were elven, I'd say Bladesinger.

Well, if we want needlessly complicated, we must be talking about a geshtalt character (DMG).

Ftr 2/ Swash 3/ Inv Blade5/ Deul 10
Mnk 2/ Sor 18
Human

Asetic Mage CAdv
Force of Personality PHB II
Extra Spell: Shield of Faith CArc
Extra Spell: Righteous Wrath CArc
The 4th Pal spell give +4 Sacred bonus to Charisma
Einhander PHB II ??

20d10 + 80 Hp's
+20 BAB
1d4 + 15 dmg with kukri

Greater Mage Armor
Shield
Shield of Faith
Righteous Wrath

AC 58
Touch AC 48
FF 10
and if you fight defensively, your AC jumps by 15 of Dodge bonuses.

And that's before adding a natural armor bonus (barkskin), luck bonus (recitation), sacred bonus(?), competence bonus (marshal ability), or any of the other bonuses to AC you might get (Defender weapon anyone).

You have all the power of a blaster with 9th level spells, and the AC, BAB, and HP's to stand toe-to-toe with most advesaries. The only weaknesses are Fort saves (sightly lowered base), and attacks that don't require attack rolls and don't give Reflex saves (evasion).

Tempest Fennac

The problem with that set-up is that it sounds really effective defensively (don't forget that one of the jokes regarding Nale's classes are that he works out as being weaker (in theory) then he would have been if he'd have just taken Bard levels).

Crimson Avenger

Oh it is effective defensively. Perhaps too effective. Let us say that my group was not amused when I unleashed it upon their unsuspecting geshtalt characters. With a toad familliar to cover up the bald spot on his fort save, you can make grown men cry and throw dice. it was awesome.

Now they've invested hugely in spells that don't require attack rolls. Like Moon Bolt, damn them.

Oh yeah, that paladin spell I quoted is Righteous AURA not wrath.

I was going for complicated, i guess I skipped needlessly altogether.

Tempest Fennac
2007-12-14, 02:11 PM
What does Moonbolt do? I've never heard of that spell.

Crimson Avenger
2007-12-14, 02:19 PM
Moon Bolt is in Spell Com, 4th level, does 5d4 STR damage Fort/ half, and like MM doesn't require an attack roll.
