Welcome to the Savage Tide! A big Adventure path to go from level's 1-20!

The City of Sasserine lies perched on the edge of the known world, the last stop before the endless expanse of the Amedio Jungle. It is a hub for trade and home to more than fifteen thousand souls -- a bastion of civilization in a realm plagued by piracy, disease, violent weather, and monsters. This campaign begins in the exotic port city of Sasserine, and it is here that the foundations of your character will be laid.

Sasserine began not as a city, but as a woman. Over 700 years ago, a cleric of Wee Jas named Sasserine woke one night after a particularly vivid dream of a hidden cove, protected from the sea by vast cliffs and from the land by steaming swamps and jungles. In this vision, she beheld a thriving city and a glittering spire of scarlet stone, and knew Wee Jas had visited her with a prophecy. Sasserine called together her followers, including her lover Teraknian, a soldier and worshiper of Kord, and set out to find this hidden cove. Diseases, accidents, and monsters took their toll, and near the end, despair gnawed at Sasserine's pilgrims. Finally, their numbers reduced to less than a quarter of their initial strength, these pilgrims emerged into a bounteous stretch of land with fertile soil and fields of exotic plants sheltered by twin shoreline cliffs. Sasserine recognized the landscape at once, but Shelya had not warned her of the black dragon that had taken the cove as his territory. Mere hours after the pilgrims had thankfully fed on the abundant plants and had only just begun to hope they had found their new home, the dragon Zelkarune struck. Enraged at this final trial, Sasserine stood her ground against the dragon and defeated it -- but at a terrible cost. For in delivering the final strike, Sasserine had been forced to step between Zelkarune's claw and Teraknian; the blow meant for him instead laid her low, just as she called down a bolt of fire from the sky to slay the dragon.

In the days to follow, the survivors turned to Teraknian for leadership, who vowed to found a city in Sasserine's name. It was the year -124 cy, and over the seven centuries to follow, Sasserine would mature into one of the great hidden wonders of the south.

Of late the city has seen adventure and trouble in equal measure. House Vandeboren, once a noble and proud house has fallen upon hard times with the death of the House Lord and his lady in a mysterious fire. They left behind their diligent and hard working daughter Lavinia and their wastrel son Vanthus and seemingly debts and trouble. However all was not as it seemed! Lavinia, down on her luck hired some local adventurers including Lara and Grimgor and they managed to retrieve the Blue Nixie from some toughs trading illegale animal at the dock side.

Investigating Vanthus they were trapped upon a small island filled with zombies and soon thereafter discovered Vanthus had taken a lover, none other than Roywn Kellani who was head of the Lotus Dragons, and who Vanthus was funneling the Vanderboren wealth to. Lara, Grimgor and some others however detsroyed the guild, slaying them all and were feted as heroes by Lavinia who kept them on as retainers alongside the renowned Jade Ravens.

Having more evidence that Vanthus had killed her parents (as well as stealing her money and trying to kill Lara, Grimgor and friends) the party had journeyed to Kraken Cove on the far side of Jeklea Bay in search of Vanthus. Hear the discovered chaos instead. A wrecked ship with a mysterious black pearl that had shattered and spread a deadly Savage fever leaving the pirates infected and mutated into savage beasts. THe party had slain the pirates of the cove without loss meeting Hariss Javell, a captain of the Scarlet fleet and one beset by savage pirates. the meeting was short however as Javell informed the party that she now had a vendetta against Vanthus (as he had smashed the pearl and spread the savage fever), and in fact the entire Vanderboren family, and that she had already dispatched men to Sasserine to kill “his family, his friends, his pets, anyone who owes him money, people he went to school with, people he drinks with, and whatever slut he keeps at port”. As this included their employer, Lavinia, and as the die had already been cast, the party’s meeting with Javell was short as they raced back to Sasserine and their employer’s aid. However, before they left they managed to make a good impression on the captain by helpfully healing her wounds and loudly and convincingly decreeing their hatred for Vanthus and their desire to see him dead, and Harliss expressed regret at calling for Lavinia’s death, giving the party one of her earrings as a code to her first mate, whom she dispatched with the task, to listen to the party’s message. The party had managed to get back to Lavinia's manor and dispatch the bullywugs saving the jade ravens and Lavinia!

Now Lavinia has declared she will seek new fortune at Farshore, the colony her parents founded on the fabled Isle of Dread. Commissioning two ships, her own Blue Nixie and the one rune by her friend Lara Dantalion, the Sea Wyvren she has recruited brave colonists and travellers to journey with her..... The voyage has been eventful with a stop on the Spider Coast and a lost Temple and a Cult of long dead gods on a small supply island where they deposed th governer. Now passing ancient Tamochian, the last stop before the long ocean crossing to the fabled Isle of Dread the heroes of the "Nixie", Captain Lara, Urol the gnome, Grimgor and Kona have been turned to stone and need crew from the Nixie to facilitate a rescue...

NPC Crew of the Sea Wyvern (The crew of the Nixie

We need 3 brave members of the crew, or an as-yet un-named potential colonist to help investigate the island and rescue Lara, Grimgor, Kona and Urol.

Level 5 Pathfinder 1 E
Nothing too exotic for races
20 PB, please don't dump everything to start with 18's (before racial mods).. its boring
Starting wealth is 6000gp no more than 2500gp on a single item
2 traits, if a drawback is chosen must make sense and be relevant
NO elephant in the room or background skills (we started in 3.5 and ported to PF and didn't intro those options)
Have a reason for why you were on the Blue Nixie (crew or a colonist on Lavinia's expedition to the Isle of Dread)

HPs are Max 1st level, average +0.5 on subsequent levels (i.e. 5 on a d8, 6 on a d10 etc..)


The current (although petrified) players are Captain Lara (a human swashbuckler), Kona (a Tengu mystic) and Grimgor (Dwarven Warder) so realistically some spell casting would help support these mostly melee folks :smallsmile:

Really interested, but I don't want to make a full caster, so I'm looking at a support character:

1. Fulgor: A Rajah (Probably Halfling or Damphir) who is looking to settle a debt with Vantus and has snuck in the Blue Nixie as a wannabe colonist in hopes of finding the guy.

Hi all, I play the unfortunate Lara Dantalion, Captain of the Sea Wyvern. Her current career is as a rather nice statue, but hoping some brave crew will come to her rescue.

A number of options for the new recruits:

A named member of the Sea Wyvern NPC crew (e.g. abilities not correctly identified at employment)
An unlisted fore-mast hand of the Sea Wyvern (e.g. abilities not correctly identified at employment)
A stowaway on the Sea Wyvern (we recently stopped at Fort Blackwell)
A member of the crew of the Blue Nixie.
A passenger on the Blue Nixie (trader/potential colonist/adventure seeker)
A stowaway on the Blue Nixie.


Perhaps your character didn't realise they were as powerful as the captain and her associates. Perhaps you did and were trying to lay low. Or perhaps you only wanted to get to the Isle of Dread or track down Vanthus. In any case, you've volunteered (or been volunteered by the chief armsmen of the Wyvern and The Nixie) to go and find out why Captain Lara Dantalion, Grimgor, Kona and Urol haven't come back from their shore venture.

In terms of what we have in the party, We've got a human swashbuckler, a dwarf warder and a tengu mystic. We're short on healing and full casters, but I don't think we'll be too picky.

Thinking about a shaman or oracle crew member (maybe on the Nixie as the Wyvern's crew is mapped out, but will think more). Didn't accompany the others because:

• The crew is their family, not these do-gooders
• As Apocalypse Now taught us, "Never get out of the boat … unless you're going all the way."

Fulgor came to Sasserine looking to settle businesses with Vantus, who owes him a hefty amount of money. He learned of his escape and joined the Blue Nixie under pretense of being a merchant with solid interests in the establishment of an outpost in Farshore. He has been laying low and not showing his abilities, but it seems now that he is needed in order for the expedition to continue.

I need to let my brain rest a bit, but I am intending to make an aboriginal resident of the Isle of Dread (or another, an isolated island in the area) that has grown up largely absent of civilization, but is able to help with the rescue and further efforts (if we continue, instead of or in addition to the original party).

My wizard will definitely be a stowaway. He wants adventure, but in his search for quick power he came across the patron of deception and reclusiveness. Which gives him the power he wants to be an adventure but that power also compels him to solitude to an extent. He struggled to find a party to work with and the few he's found were hard to make last due to his reclusive nature, in spite of his desire to adventure. While his power comes from this mysterious and powerful unnamed patron, he reveres Kurgess and his desire for community bravery and travel.

He stowed away, even though he does have training as a sailor, on the Blue Nixie in search of new opportunities and new companions to try once again to work with. His conjuration/Teleportation specialization allows him to not be completely alone but also to escape uncomfortable or dangerous situations.

I'm thinking he will be more control less blasty, and the summonings will also help with a smaller party.

Fulgor has a lush, gorgeous beard, seemingly made of silky fire that would be the envy of the best groomed dwarf prince but is made even more exotic on a halfling's face. He is short and lean but muscular, and wears the most outrageous outfits possible, with red silk and dark purple dominating as colors.

Fulgor is larger than life, he moves and speaks as if he were a 6'6 tall muscular warrior or a Pasha of great renown. He has no respect for authority and a fearless approach against tyrants, he is the ruler of his own kingdom. He considers himself the greatest merchant that ever lived and seeks exotic treasure beyond measure.



Fulgor is a merchant who wants to be the king of merchants in Oerth. He is a bargainer, always looking for the best deal. He met Vanthus a while ago and helped him secure a powerful magic item for which Vanthus promised a good amount of gold that he never paid. He came to Sasserine looking for him, only to find out he was running away. He joined the Blue Nixie as a merchant-colonist.
Since the expedition started he has been watching the heroes without revealing his hand, but now it is time to step up.

WIP for Nassor, the Heavens Shaman (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=2866813) who's really getting too old for this. He's past his physical prime as a sailor, but the crew thinks he's good luck — he is — and he's a superb navigator as long as he can see the stars.


Dolan rose just before midnight and dragged himself up to the deck of the Blue Nixie. Nassor was already there. Nassor always picked middle watch and, if the weather was clear, would also spend first watch on deck staring at the skies, earning him the nickname “night watchman” among the crew. Now he stood at the gunwale, gazing over the quiet sea with his pet fruit bat.

“Anything new, Nassor?” Dolan asked. “Hey Mango.” The bat swiveled its head and looked irritated, as it always did when its name was called and no actual mangoes were present.

Nassor looked over his shoulder. “The Eldest Ox is shining differently tonight,” he said.

Nighttime conversations with Nassor were often difficult. The old man — not really old, but he had a good ten years on the other sailors, and a lifetime at sea was hard on anybody — was usually lucid enough under the sun. By night he’d go long minutes before responding to a question, or whisper something as if in a dream.

Dolan understood this reference, though. “The Ox … you mentioned that before, when the Wyvern was forming a landing party.”

Nassor nodded, eyes still fixed above. “The Ox was cautious, then. It said, ‘Stay.’ Now it says, ‘Go.’

There was silence for a moment, apart from the waves lapping against the hull. Nassor spoke again. “Ox doesn’t change its mind easily.”

This was turning into a more typical nighttime Nassor conversation. Dolan looked up where the shaman was staring. “Which one is Eldest Ox?”

Nassor shrugged. "None of them. It's on the other side."

Dolan gave Mango a pet and found something else to do.

Nassor pointed at The Dancers, one of the best-known constellations in the sky. “Eldest Ox left the dance thousands of years ago. It hides behind the constellation’s western star."

I forgot how weird the Greyspace cosmology is — there's nothing behind the stars, not in the way he was suggesting, at least. I'll fix my intro.

I just updated Alistair (https://og.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=2866907) changing the deity to a greyhawk one. Instead of Kurgess, he will worship Yondalla.

Even though Yondalla is a halfling deity, he admires the desire and draw for community. But as I read about her, I learned about her other half Dalla Thaun which would actually fit for his Patron granting deception. Though I seriously doubt he knows truly who the patron is.

So he's a non healing cleric type due to his source of arcane power. lol

Nassor the Shaman (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=2866813) is just about done apart from gear. Obviously he's spell-casting support and buffer/debuffer, with a wandering spirit to fill in whatever gaps are around. (Currently set on 'Tribe' to give some Teamwork Feats around, but Life, Lore and Fire would be other choices, depending on the situation.)


Also trying to decide on a few feats. Considering Craft Wondrous Item at 5; it seems like we'd be away from civilization for a long while so crafting could make sense, but I don't know Savage Tide storyline well … is there any downtime, or is the adventure path a constant race against the clock? (Long ship voyage suggests the former, but how have things been so far?)

It's been basically continuous action so far with at most a couple days between encounters. There's a long ocean voyage coming up, don't know what it'll be like when we arrive at the Isle of Dread.

Male, kitsune, Investigator (psychic detective)

His parents emigrated to Sasserine when he was only five years old, apparently they had planned it for a while with a good part of the clan, but when his mother was pregnant, they postponed their trip until his son could actively change the family. form of him. It took a while for Taiki to adjust to the need to remain hairless all the time, but he stopped feeling so itchy after a few months, as if he were wearing a second set of clothes all the time. In his childhood you could see the active mind he had, he was always looking for something else to see or ask about, I don't know what happened to him and finally when he turned 15 they emigrated.

His parents provided him with food and clothing, working as translators for merchants. When a merchant learned that his translator's son was more agile than most would expect, he urged his parents to give him an internship with guard investigators. And so he learned that despite being smart he was not the smartest. His parents seemed to feel a sense of relief at home, perhaps because they also allowed themselves more moments in his true skin. Of course, after becoming an honorary member of the researchers, he decided that he needed to get more seasoned and began looking for pots to investigate on his own.

Having strong ties with the community, they sent him to solve small problems. Some won and others couldn't find the solution. but those went into his unsolved case drawer. A drawer that, to his frustration, seemed to contain one file a year.

One day after finishing an affair he finally found a clue to one of his cold cases and followed the trail to a city dock. Finding no other way out and reluctantly he ended up having to pay for a ticket on a departing ship.

EditNicholas grew up a scion of the Larchaster family and was expected no demand he go and take up arms like his Ancestors before him. He could either go and join the city watch or become a gladiator but he wanted none of it. For you see his true passion in life is to be a cook and cook the grandest meal for all to enjoy. He would constantly sneak into the Kitchens to watch servants cook and take notes and help. Unfortunately this passion wasnt encouraged by the Larchaster and they would force him into combat training whenever they caught him in the kitchen and this pissed him off and gave him a bit of temper. This would come to had one day when he was caught by his uncle who was tired of his embarrassing nephew and after yelling at Nicholas and being ignored struck him to try and get his attention and Nick just lost it, saw red and beat the man half to death. Horrified at what he did he fled and hopped a ride on the first ship out of there as a cook.

Tattoos cost twice as much. Also took VMC as a monk. So no armor there.
If not I will take another look around and might see any other inspiration about.

Background:
Zaigo has lived in the city of Olfden, in rural Andoran, since his earliest childhood. The family settled there after his father, a formerly active Temple Knight, retired from the service. His mother, a part-time alchemist, welcomed the change. Since then, most of the older brothers have left the city to pursue their careers and/or private lives. It seemed that there was something in the blood of the family that prevented its members from sitting still in their active years.

In Absalom, he first received generic training and then a lot of training specific to a particular task. The people who were in Numeria shared his experiences and even provided some technological artifacts for Zaigo to familiarize himself with. He was not one of the best in the class. But he never let that discourage him. Some of his ideas were too 'avant-garde', which he ended up making them explode in his face. He ended up asking the technology department for help to be able to create the things he wanted. During his training, he gathered medical knowledge, which helped him create a special medicine kit.

Zaigo has spent the last five years raising money in various port cities as a healer by trade. Many of these assignments have required him to stay aboard various boats. His attention has been focused primarily on the military applications of the various alchemical compounds found throughout the world.
