Hey there Playground,

While diving into poisons for a build, I found the usual rules in CAd combined with the standard Craft skill rules.

You can craft poisons, as per usual, by multiplying the following : [your Craft check] x [Poison Craft DC] and divide it by the price of one dose of poison to have the amount you managed to make in a week.

So far, so good.

I took it upon myself to list all the poisons (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vzX6P_3zxFUF4Z30XMCOa-UKbQrWegulVlddGdcsVJs/edit?usp=sharing) available in D&D 3.0/3.5 but some of them don't have a Craft DC !! The horror !

Therefore I tried reverse engineering the formula behind the Craft DC attribution but I can't make it out...

Can anyone help me on this ?

For instance, I've seen a guide where the writer said something like "No craft DC is listed, but it can be extrapolated from the save DC and cost" or another where they decided Belladonna had a DC 15 Craft or that Bee Venom (OA) should be 16... Where are they making this up ?

Consider the following :
Bebilith Venom, Injury, 1d6 Con/2d6 Con, DC 20, DC to create 20, 900 gp
Deathblade, Injury, 1d6 Con/2d6 Con, DC 20, DC to create 25, 1800gp
Lifebane, Injury, 1d6 Con/1d6 Con, DC 20, DC to create 25, 2000gp

If there ever is a general formula, it would have to account for the cases above, with notably the bebilith venom and deathblade being exactly identical except for their price while having different craft DC, and on the other hand the selling price cannot be the sole determining factor since there are 3k gp poisons (gray whinnis) with a higher craft DC than 2.5k gp poisons (black lotus extract).

If there is a formula, which I very much doubt, it seems to be pretty convoluted with several roundings up and down, and at that point you'd rather just eyeball it.

Additional clue that WotC does not use a calculator, from the same book (BoVD), Ishentav and Urthanyk
Both Inhaled, 1d6 Str/1d6 Str, Ishentav is DC 13 and costs 500 gp, while Urthanyk is DC 19 and costs 2k gp, but their craft DC is only one apart (Ishenta 25, Urthanyk 26).

Your list seems to be missing the epic poisons, found here: https://web.archive.org/web/20161101074118/http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ei/20030810a

Was not going to add them but there are so little I might as well. It's done, and so are the Magic-Infused ones from DotU.
