Lost some players, so we are re-recruiting for Rise of the Grand Admiral. The party is moving towards the end of the second mission.

Original Premise & Big 16:

I recently watched Bad Batch and the final season of the Clone Wars, and I'm in the mood for some semi-canon Star Wars, where the party ends up working as part of Thrawn's task force.

Level 1-5: Starting near the end of the clone wars, the players are relatively new recruits when order 66 happens and the republic becomes the Empire. They are then sent to pacify some hold out systems and deal with the last remnants of the separatist resistance.
Level 6-11
As the Empire consolidates power, they are reassigned to vice-admiral thrawn’s task force and sent to extend the empire’s control of the unknown territories, by exploring and then either unifying or subduing the various competing civilizations there, either by alliance, subterfuge, coercion, or outright military conquest.
Level 12+
After carving an empire out of the the unknown regions, the task force receives word the empire has fallen, and grand admiral thrawn returns to unify the imperial remnants and put the rebels down once and for all. The players decide where their loyalties lie.

Anyone interested?

Big 16:

1. What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)?
Star Wars Saga Edition. The game starts towards the end of the Clone Wars.

2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)? See above.

3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?
3-4 players, with room for alternates.

4. What's the gaming medium (OOTS, chat, e-mail etc.)?
These Forums, Play by Post. Mythweavers for character sheets. I might use discord to answer questions faster.

5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)?
Level 3. We will not use XP, instead advancing as the story progresses.

6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with?
Per RAW. License costs for starting equipment are paid by the Republic, anything after that uses the standard rules for acquiring licenses or purchasing on the black market. At chargen, stick to military grade or less (no illegal items).

7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes?
All source Classes are open. No home brew.

8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species?
All races are allowed, including droids and clones. No homebrew.

9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points?
Standard 25-point buy. There will be (very rare, very valuable) opportunities to permanently add extra ability points during the game, over and above what is gained through advancement. These are obtained by completing hidden bonus objectives (which can be uncovered over the course of an adventure).

10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?
Dark Side points will be assigned for heinous acts, and Force Sensitive characters are held to a higher standard (i.e. using the Force to directly injure a living non-hostile creature). You will not lose your character for turning to the Dark Side, though you may attract unwanted attention.

11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it?
Yes.

12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them?
Players roll their own rolls (in spoilers), I roll my own rolls. I may also roll passive checks like perception or checks where the outcome is unknown (like checking for booby traps) in secret.

13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.
For combat: Initiative only counts for the first round of combat to determine who acts before the NPCs. After that, players and NPCs will alternate turns. Everyone has 24 hrs to post after I make my post, and players can post in any order. If you can't post, I'll move for you (you can let me know basically what you want to do), or you can designate someone to take your turn for you. This way, we don't get bogged down waiting for one person to act. I'll try to keep to 1 round / day rate, but my schedule varies.
Vital transfer cannot heal damage caused by vital transfer. Any other healing options still work, including force trance.
You get an attack as part of the fighting defensively standard action.
Tie advanced have 4 laser cannons. All other stats remain the same.
Fractional BAB is in effect.
Destiny Points are not in use, backgrounds from the rebellion era handbook are optional.
Player killing is allowed on a case-by-case basis - all current players (not just those involved in the PK) must agree in each case.
Dark side characters do not become npcs. There is no maximum number of dark side points you can accumulate, though there are ig responses to racking up an exceedingly high score.
Dropping a held item is a free action, not swift.
Drain energy only works on unattended objects.

14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)?
Use the 5-step character background:

Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged!
Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.
Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises!
Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.
Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.

5 Step Background Link: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1315058/10-minute-background

Music to get you in the mood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40PLk5VKVKQ

15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above?
Combination, but the most important aspect are player decisions. You can make bad decisions and get yourself or members of your squad killed or fail your mission and have repercussions for the next stage of the campaign. You can make good decisions and earn the favor of npc's or make encounters easier or avoid them altogether, or you can take extra risks to try and earn extra rewards / accolades.

16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?
All rule books are open. Please try to keep to the time period we are playing in. If you want anything wacky from KOTOR or Legacy Era please highlight it.

I remember the original recruitment thread. Not good that you've lost players, but good that you're still trying.

Unfortunately for me, in the time simce the previous thread, the flash drive on which my books were stored got corrupted. I may still have them in backups somewhere, if so I might give my character draft another attempt.

Ah it's fine you don't need books. I can help out with whatever stats you need and we'll do a char audit before slotting you in. More important is the char concept.

For anyone curious, there's only one character left, mine, Coralej is very good at the force, capable of deceiving and perceiving and not good at much else, so you probably don't need to worry about overlap.

There's a pretty good wiki with most (all?) of the rules if you can't find them.

BACKGROUND: Crippled - Damage Treshold always remains the same, even when going down the CT. Has a Left arm prostethic.

Personality:
Calm, quiet and gruff, Alares is a survivor, and especially a mercenary. He has a high honor sense – he will not betray a cause till the mission is over. Then he can work for the opposite side, if the price is right.
What he can’t resolve with words, he resolves with a well-placed shot, or a punch to the teeth.

Appearance:
Tall, muscular with a feral look on his green eyes, complemented by raven black hair, with some white creeping. He has a scar over his eye.
He has a tanned body by years of missions and blood splattering. Has long tattoos on his good arm, and painted and engraving in the prothestic one. He is always with Stella, his large heavy rifle. Stella is the only thing he has an attachment with. People die, change, betray. Stella never let him down.

Background:
To Alares, life is war. To breath is to fight. He almost doesn’t remember a time when it wasn’t. When life was simpler... or happy(?).
Born in a backwater planet in the outer rim (middle of nowhere to the right) under the rulership of one or another lord (for the day to day of the citizens that meant nothing), in a simple farmer family, he learned how to tend the fields and to shoot.
When he was 12, he wanted more. More money, more life so he ventured into a ship, and from there into the galaxy above.
Since then he has been putting his natural talent for killing, for good use. The one that pays more has the benefit of gaining his skill. Known simply as the Dragon, from the amout of fire he unleashes, he has built a somewhat gory curriculum.

Concept elements
1) To Alares Life is war. Since he left his backwater world, he has been fighting, one way or another.
2) He is calm, quiet and gruff with high honor sense – he will not betray a cause till the mission is over. Then he can work for the opposite side, if the price is right.
3) Stella, his rifle, is always to his side. She is the only thing he has an attachment with. People die, change, betray. Stella never let him down.
4) He has been part of some mercenary groups along his years of fighting. The first were the Howling Krags. There he met Horst Krag, his mentor and kind of adoptive father figure.
5) Losing his arm made him start to rethink his life. He feels an enormous void and needs something to fill it. These last months it has been women, liquor, and war. But that hasn’t help.

Goals
1) For Alares the most important thing is money at this moment (and Stella of course).
2) Redemption is always cool. Alares finding a cause or someone to live for/with. Maybe even returning to his old family household and reclaim his nobility.

Secrets
Known – He has Crossed paths with a powerful Hutt lord, Kalla the Hutt, and is on a hit list by the criminal. To Alares was just work, but Hutts don’t tend to think it like that.
Unknown – The memories of his childhood are fake. Alares was a member of a noble family, that was targeted to be killed by the rival family. Horst pitied the kid and took it with him. Alares has a small iron ring tied around his neck as a good luck charm. The ring is a signet ring of his family.

People
1) Friendly - Horst is retired and owns a cantina for former mercs, where jobs are peddled, and a lot of black market activities happen. Despite the grey hair, Horst still has the skills that allowed him to survive for more than 30 years in merc jobs.
2) Friendly – Meira Kal is a former member of the Krags, and former lover of Alares. She left mercenary jobs and started smuggling ones. She has a fast ship and knows how to talk. They keep in touch despite a sort of sexual tension remaining.
3) Enemy - Kalla the Hutt has seen his endeavors failing twice due to Alares. In the first his employees were stealing weapons from a production facility, but Alares was part of the team defending it. All of his team ended up dead (not a big deal for the Hutt) but his reputation with the clan has dwindled. The second time Kalla’s men were assaulting a transport ship and their ships got shot by the Dragon, controlling the blaster batteries. That resulted in a large material loss for the hutt. From there on he focuses his rage on the Dragon and not on his lack of good employees or especially good tactics.

Memories
1) Alares remembers the sun. The sun on his back burning hot as he walked the fields next to his house. His house was dark, dark as a shadow against the sun. The wind was warm. He was smiling. From that memory Alares always says "If I die, let it be with the sun shinning on me."
2) Alares remembers the face of the first man he killed. The dark hair, the scream, the blood. His own heart breaking, stopping and getting excited at the same time. The puking he had to do afterwards. Alares was just a kid...
3) Alares still feels the sensation of getting his arm blown, of thinking on dying, on not feeling pain. Of drifting away. Of his mind trying to grasp reality. Of it fluttering to wild dreams of fortresses, flower fields and a smile. A blonde woman smiles. A Warm smile. A goddess. Mother(?). When thinking (especially if he plans to do smething stupid/brave) he uncounsciously taps his prosthetic arm.

I will be trying again with another character. Here's Zistalna (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=2753338), a vanguard of the Chiss Ascendancy.
Haven't done equipment, because I'm a bit uncertain if there's extra cash for level 3.

https://i.postimg.cc/6qNbvXYY/Zistalna.jpg

Concept Elements

Zistalna is part of the precursors of Chiss sent to the collapsing republic. As “just another alien standing” up against the Separatists, and the Republic seemingly high interest in getting volunteers, has made the infiltration easy. It’s not that she’s opposed to the Seperatists, she is, it’s that her loyalty is to another master – the head of her House.
Trained in the Chiss military academy on Rhigar, she has learned to endure hardships.
A bit gruff and uncouth, Zistalna keeps to herself during downtimes.
She has a lithe build, and while she’s not exceptionally strong she compensates that with her endurance and quick reactions.
She likes to downplay her sharp intellect, but in truth she analyzes every situation.
Zistalna can come across as cold and ruthless. She focuses on her objective and lets no personal feelings get in the way in the moment.
She has tattoos in her face and across her body, signifying her commitment to her Academy. She has also gotten some Republic ones on her arms, melding into the new warrior culture.

Goals

Character: To see the Chiss embodied into the Republic, and eventually take it over, piece by piece.
Character: Learn the tactics and strategies of the Republic while fighting the Separatists.
Player: Acclimate to the Republic/Empire and become more part of it.

Secrets

She knows: Her whole origin in the Chiss Ascendency and their schemes.
She does not yet know: She will be receiving orders from her superiors. Plans are in motions, but what those plans are, remains to be seen.

People

Friend: Evelyn, a human pilot. She’s the one that “recruited” Zistalna to the Republic forces.
Friend; (Trooper), another scout. The two have a professional relationship and train together.
Rival, enemy: Rico, a human officer. Does not enjoy the concept of ‘strange’ aliens (or aliens in general) in the Republic forces and has taken a particular dislike to Zistalna.

Memories

She avoids eye contact and tends to observe the surroundings when talking. Some are naturally put off by this.
“I remember the cold. Not the normal cold, but something that just goes through you. The type of cold where if you fall asleep, you will never wake. We lived it. We endured. It made us who we are today. If you can survive that cold, you can get through anything.”
"I miss home. The orderly fashion everything works in and that everyone knows their place and their duty. Everything here is upside down."

Yes there will be some cash to start to acquire equipment, but not much. Since there's one PC left might sync everyone up with the same amount of equipment, credit-wise. We'll figure it out.

I've still got my sheet (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=2751405) from last time, so some of the work is already done, at least. I don't remember what I still need to do, though - other than go up to level 3.

That being said, the reason I didn't finish it last time was because I couldn't quite flesh out the backstory or character all that much. I may or may not be able to do so this time. And I could try to come up with a different concept, but those tend to be tied into my build and I don't know what's doable for a PC in this system in the long run.

I'll take average HP.

I'm in a spot where I can take either the Informerfeat, or Vehicular Combat. Currently, whichever I take, I'll swing back to pick up the other at 5th level, but I was wondering if you could offer any insight into which might be more useful for the next couple of levels.

Skira Vol (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=1496140)
Concept elements
1) Skira was born and raised on a Shistavanen exclave on the fringe.
2) Sometimes Skira took work as a local guide for visiting offworlders. One such job was a bounty hunter looking for an escaped slave. He suggested Skira take up the job, and filled the young Shistavanen's head with enough stories of the greater galaxy to get Skira to do it.
3) While Skira had no feelings for the Confederacy, their money was as good as any, and he took several jobs for them. The last one went sour in a very bad way, and the partner Skira was assigned to, a Trandoshan mercenary named Pessht, took the old "I don't have to outrun the rancor, I just have to outrun you" joke as a plan and shot Skira in the leg, leaving Skira behind to distract the clones while Pessht made good his escape.
4) Republic intelligence quickly determined Skira was a hired gun with no real information to be had and was quick to dump the hunter in a dark hol.
5) When Sadaki was putting together his new unit, he foundi n SKira a scout very eager to get out of his cell and take some revenge on the Separatists.

Goals
1) Turn that backstabbing SoB Pessht into a pair of boots with a matching belt.
2)

Secrets
1) His prior work for the Separatists.
2) Unbeknownst to Skira, the escaped slave he helped find was actually the daughter of a Republic Senator.

People
1) [Friend] Jack Voyner was the bounty hunter who recruited Skira into the guild and mentored him through his apprenticeship.
2) [Friend] Nactan Mith'eah is a Bothan slicer, saboteur, and info trader Skira sometimes worked with.
3) [Enemy] Pessht calls himself a bounty hunter, but according to Skira he "couldn't find his own shebs with both hands and a pack of Gamorrean watch-beasts". The two had a very mutually antagonistic relationship even before the shooting.

Memories
1) Skira still remembers getting shot. The searing pain and numbness and the impact with the floor arr a blur, but he disticntly remebers looking back to see Pessht standing there, gun smoking, with a wicked smile on his face. Then Pessht waved cheerily, and then turned and ran out of sight.
2) Skira learned Basic fairly late in childhood, and speaks it with a noticeable accent. He also tends to speak in short sentences, which can make him come across as curt or snappish even when he's not trying to be rude.
3) Skira still isn't used to his new prosthetic limb, which replaced the leg crippled by Pessht. He'll sometimes shift uncomfortably, or rub or pick at it.

I believe there are already standard stats for this in source book it comes from? I am using a wiki.

But... if you just want to say no, I can pick different talents.

Edit: 10 in every stat, levels in an NPC class (no bonuses, 1 skill), light armor proficiency

Oh it's from the loyal protector talent. Sure that's fine, if you're ok dealing with the follower rules and the additional complexity, as well as the risk of being at a temporary disadvantage if it gets destroyed in the course of a mission.

More combat right now, it's the clone wars. It's totally up to you; I will craft a story tangential to your background and include NPCs etc.

We're going to end recruitment soon, anyone who wants to throw their hat in the ring, now's the time (to put up a two sentence concept).

I think I needed to finalize gear, but I should be good to go

Noble starting credits:

...whoops. I expected one or the other of those two to work, not both. I'll take the average, I guess.

...or maybe my concept will refuse to gel as Noble and I'll need Soldier starting credits instead.

Just making sure we’re at level three but we only get starting credits?

I also was unclear on this. My gear won't take long, though. A translation equipped radio and a couple guns.

Everyone will start out with starting credits, and then you'll get some more courtesy of the Republic after the game starts (to put you on par with the existing player's gear, above and beyond their starting average).

So if at the end of the current mission, Thunder999 has 1000 credits more worth of equipment than their character's average starting credits, then all new players will get an additional 1000 to spend. Make sense?

(TC waits for all prospective players to DM Thunder999 and demand his character loot whatever he can before the mission ends... :p )

I wouldn't get your hopes up for extra credits, I think my character will be leaving this mission with less than he started with (because grenades).

I realized that while I did my background a long time ago, I forgot to add it to my sheet. I did that and added my gear. I did not do a stat Block for my Bodyguard, but I can if you want.

Reading back , I noticed there were a pair of B-1s standing guard next to the shuttle, each one would've been armed with a blaster carbine that is now up for grabs. Nudge, nudge.

Been sick the last few days so will be a bit for me to catch up. Everyone (including thunder999), will get an additional 2500 credits to spend at the start of level 3.

Darkstorm, please put a sheet on mythweavers and post a link.
Harmony - Zistalna Chiss Scoundrel1/Soldier2, paste the 5 step background onto the sheet - https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=2753338
DuskRaven - Nej Walden needs to advance to level 3 and needs a background. - https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=2751405
Random - Skira Vol Scoundrel 1 / Soldier 2 Shistavanen, paste your 5 step background onto the sheet - https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=1496140
Feathersnow - T'tchiirt Jawa Noble 3 , level defense bonus should be 3 - https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/?id=2873990

If you're still interested in the game, make the above changes and post your sheet in the ooc thread and we'll finish leveling up and then maybe do a small intro session or something before starting the next mission.

What do you all think of putting in 903 credits each and getting a 2-1B medical droid so we have some reliable healing?
