Mysterious Stranger (1)
From time to time, a Mysterious Stranger comes to your aid, with lethal results. At the start of a combat encounter, you may spend 1 Luck point. If you do so, then at any point during the scene, the GM may have the Mysterious Stranger appear, make a single ranged attack against an enemy you attacked, or who just attacked you, and then vanish. If you spend a Luck point and the Mysterious Stranger does not appear, the GM must refund the Luck point you spent.
The stranger has an AGI of 10, a Small Guns skill of 6, and counts Small Guns as a Tag skill. They always roll 3d20 for attacks, rather than 2d20, and their attack—using a custom .44 Magnum revolver—inflicts 8 Dice Piercing 1, Vicious physical damage.
They always appear within their weapon’s ideal range. Any attempt to find where the Stranger went after their attack fails.

Scrounger (1)
Whenever you roll to determine how much ammunition you find, you find more.
At rank 1, you find +3 Dice additional shots. At rank 2, you find +6 Dice additional shots. At rank 3, you find +10 Dice additional shots. The additional ammo you find is the same as initially found, for example, if you find 10mm ammunition, this perk increases how much 10mm ammo you find. If you find multiple types of ammunition, Scrounger applies to the ammunition with the lowest rarity (GM’s choice if there is a tie).
Each time you take this perk, the level requirement increases by 5.

Lucky, ironically so nicknamed, was born in a little settlement near what was once known as 'Page' near Snake River. His given name at birth was Andrew, but due to his rather poor luck, he was often suffering from small bad events, from a strained ankle when out joining a hunt for wildlife food, to branches breaking and nearly hitting him, etc. etc.

It lasted into his teens like this when raiders attached the settlement and during the attack, his parents were killed, leaving him orphaned and shunned by the rest for his apparent 'poor luck' reason for the raiders having attacked.
Thusly ending up forced to leave and wander.

He'd eventually find a new place to settle and even found a girl, had a good couple of years... and then once more whatever poor luck was clinging to him reared it's ugly head and his wife-to-be died to a local Yao Guai attack.

This broke poor Andrew, or Lucky as he'd finally just accepted for it's irony - he left any kind of civilization, wandering along down Route 90, past Ritzville and further east until reaching Saint Joe National Forest. There he stayed for some years, shunning human or even mutant contact and just lived in a homemade tree-shelter, foraged for survival... and never had any further unlucky moments, even a bout with an infection was naturally fought off by his immune system - lucky finds like a hunting rifle he'd managed to scrounge suitable parts for and put it into functional condition, same with ammo scavenging when he went to nearby town ruins and such.

Recently, he'd finally left his recluse lifestyle and returned to a more civilized life, taking up mercenary work for caps, albeit not the greatest of negotiators, and less than interested in taking the contract work that left a bad taste in the mouth. He could live off the land without issue after all, so was not limited by caps and food purchase for survival.

A Militia Technician is busy patching up some wires inside a Ms. Nanny chassis. "They say this bot came from an orphanage... she probably never expected to be a killer. I wonder... how she'll handle it?"

A series of boot sounds chime as one of the optics lights up on the modified robot.

Next to the man, his Commanding Officer replies, "It doesn't matter much. These robots are built to serve, the purpose shouldn't matter. Get her online."

A few wires are tucked away and a series of switches are flipped before the panel is sealed as more of the robot starts reacting.

The Commanding Officer holds a clipboard, flipping through the pages as he speaks, "Model, Ms. Nanny. Serial Number, $4-5#4. Occupation, Hospice Care. Forget all of that. Today... you are remade. As you'll soon learn... our freedom has a price, and that price is blood."

The weight of her augmentations hold her down as she familiarizes herself with the new components. Mr. Gutsy Plating, a Flamer replacing her Pincer. She ignites her thruster and hefts her new hull off of the floor, hovering before the two men.

The Militia Technician does a quick once-over, checking various functions before stating, "She's online and appears to be fully operational sir."

The Commanding Officer sets the clipboard down and looks the robot in it's central optic and states, "You'll be reporting to me from now on. That new armor plating should keep you fighting longer than before. Make no mistake... War is coming. Your time caring for orphans is over. I expect hot coffee on my desk every day, and those optics on our perimeter every night. Do I make myself clear?"

The New Ms. Gutsy salutes with her Pincer arm before answering, "Understood Sir. Ms. Gutsy, designation S.A.S.H.A. reporting for duty!"Initiative: 8

Excuse the double post, wanting to keep my character sheet clean of anything extra. However, it seems it's likely going to just be the 4 of us plus our Overseer. Do we want to start discussing color options, formatting expectations and the starting plot for our adventure?

As mentioned prior, I believe Match would make the most likely candidate for being the one to find and befriend Sasha, so unless there's any opposition there, and as long as CardTrick is okay with that, I think that would work out well! It looks like we're only going to have the single vault dweller, and with Natalie, and then we'll have our unlucky Lucky the wild-man coming back to civilization.

Have we locked down where the campaign will be taking place, any specific "plot" we want to follow, or any on-going issues to resolve?

Other than that, to get to know everyone a bit more and what you're all looing forward to personally, and maybe to give Bel some ideas, what's everyone most excited for with this campaign, what are some things you'd like to do, and what are your character's main goals or motivations?

Me personally, I am looking forward to figuring out the combat system of the 2d20 system, and also testing the limits of a melee-centric build in a setting predominantly dominated by firearms and lasers. I'm excited for our first fight, but also for some fun in-character banter as our misfits learn about their new found allies. I think potentially getting caught up in a big raider or scavver scheme to overthrow and take control of a settlement could be fun and we end up either supporting, opposing, or benefitting off of the chaos.

As for Sasha's character motivations and goals, as a Ms. Gutsy, she was remade for combat after being a Ms. Nanny for a while after initial production. She was told that the chain of command for her base was to be followed at all times, and now with her being the sole survivor of that base, she's in command. As such, she's relieved herself of her position and started wandering around until finding someone else familiar with the chain of command and deciding to follow them around and help them find their way home.

I was kinda trying to figure out what people were thinking up here. Would be nice to know what everyone's thinking, and to just keep conversation going amongtst ourselves outside the game, keeping people engaged.

I had expected the Washington area, that's at least what I'd seen in the recruitment some mentions of. It's also a non-game place so no issues with prior game knowledge messing with plot lines or whatnot. Also nice so just not be playing 'Mines of Phandelver - Fallout Edition' cuz everyone and their uncle's played that damn introductory adventure module for D&D. :smallbiggrin:
Or at least nearly every Forgotten Realms Player has been part of that early-quest.

So yeah, more than happy to set it in that Washington area since I also based my character's quick-backstory in that place.
Dun make a lot of difference in the end for me. I'm Danish, so One Place in America is as good a place as another. :smallsmile:

If we want to start already together, with Sasha following Match and both Lucky and Natalie following Lincoln, Match could hypothetically be following Natalie. If Natalie is not hiding her Pipboy, Match would probably have approached her about helping to locate "his people" or at least scanning radio frequencies for military-sounding transmissions. Based on her sheet, she might be wanting his Laser Pistol in exchange for such help, which he literally can't do, as giving/trading away his sidearm would almost certainly mean a court martial. Even being at an empasse in that regard, assuming no better other options, Match would still be sticking around her (and thus Lincoln and Lucky too) in hopes of her changing her mind later. Likewise, given that Match is from WAY OUT OF TOWN, Lucky and Lincoln's familiarity with the area would also interest him.

Though, I would say, since we're not officially starting until Monday, maybe it'd be a decent idea for each of us that has character connections, such as Sasha/Match, Match/Natalie, Natalie/Lincoln and Lincoln/Lucky could/should all do some "how did we meet" style messages in some direct messages or something, just to give those characters some interactions going into the game that pre-date day 1 of full group having been assembled. Just an idea/suggestion for everyone to do that. I think it'd be a pretty good idea is all!

Zygg Thummp is a simple supermutant that occasionally gets bright ideas. Having gotten tired of only getting the low quality leftover food that the bigger, meaner members of his group tossed his way; he decided to leave and go solo. Finding out that things aren't so simple when you're on your own,he managed to find work. Completely unintentionally of course. He was hunting some wild dogs when he quite literally stumbled on a caravan being attacked by the pack he was hunting. Turning the entirety of the modest pack to gooey, bloody mush with his "Thump Stick" the trader and his remaining guards almost fired on him before they realized he was ignoring them in favor of feasting on the dogs. They introduced him to the joys of properly cooked and seasoned meat. In return he chose to act as a guard for them. Work for food, a simple arrangement that suits him just fine. In fact that is his definition of the lap of luxury.

I'd just like to clarify that, it seems as though Natalie is responding to things Lincoln Ford says, as if he was Match. This might be due to the way the forum is set up, lack of non-speech declaration of character that is speaking, or a combination. But it seems like she's directing her anti-clubhouse topics at Lincoln, who has nothing to do with the BoS at all and taking his comments and adding them to that pile.

Character pictures in a "footer" similar to what I have with Sasha would help out with that I think. If everyone wants to get me a picture of their character, I can make everyone a matching set of in-combat and out of combat footers that will be as easy as possible to add to your posts to prevent others from getting characters mixed up!

I am sorry if Linc is a little... over the top -- this is the first time I've played a "talkie" character in a play-by-post game in a long time -- up until Linc, it has been largely fellows with limited necks and a sleepy look in their eyes, to paraphrase Heinlein. Lincoln Ford is about as far from that as you can get.

Heh speaking of not everything needing to be life or death to be a good story, that reminds me of a D&D game I had once that was set within a homebrewed setting, in an area where there were only halflings, gnomes and a few dwarves cuz underground access.
Everything was about keeping the idyllic life going. Deal with wildlife issue, help with broken tools, see who could last the most with a drinking contest.

It was a very fun game and I still miss it to this day... even tho it was like... what, 10... 12 years ago by now iirc?
But yeah, it was a clearcut set idea of 'no big evils to deal with, no grand quests or adventures. Just calm idyllic life defense jobs'. :smallsmile:

Sounds like a pretty fun little relaxed campaign!

As for the naming and declaration things, I think yes, it's the person typing who should be confirming they're addressing the correct character, but I also think it's up to EVERYONE to make it as easy as possible to identify their own character in their posts, whether that's by frequently and repeatedly stating things such as "Sasha does abc" so people can read that it's Sasha, or by having a visual reminder, such as my picture of Sasha.
