Greetings,

I'm trying to compose a list of creatures with tentacles, preferably LOTS of tentacles. I'm primarily interested in 3.5e, but any edition of D&D is fine. I can always convert.

So, for example, a displacer beast has tentacles. A hound of the gloom (LoM) has LOTS of tentacles.

I'm interested in creatures produced by WoTC, be it books or magazines or web articles, but not third party.

Please post your thoughts below.

OA has the Tako on page 193, which are one-eyed medium-sized octopuses. They need to remain anchored to the ground with one arm at any time, but can use the seven others to attack-improved grab-constrict.

Especially notable for 1. being able to wield a weapon in each arm and 2. being a viable Alter Self form for elan and daelkyr halfbloods.

Octopus (8), Giant Octopus (8), Squid (10), Giant Squid (10).

Anthropomorphic versions of the above (Savage Species) each have two less tentacles than the base creature.

Although if you're being pedantic with real-life terminology, only squids (and squid variants) have tentacles, and only two; everything else is an "arm".

I think they followed that with the Kraken.

Chole Dragon (Dragon #344): this extraplanar (Abyssal) Dragon have no wings, but many tentacles - 4, 7, 9, or 13 (although only two of those can be used for actual attacks, the rest are just waving around - very poor tentacle control).
Chole Dragons are completely mute (i. e. unable to any vocalization).
Very Young Chole Dragon is CR 5, Large, with 9 HD, fast healing 5, and ability scores 15/10/17/12/13/14
Their Breath Weapon does Wis and Cha damage (1d2 for Very Young)
Also, they got some SLA - depending on the number of tentacles; Very Young would get access to Magic Circle Against Law (if 4 tentacles), Fly (if 7), Dispel Magic (if 9), or Haste (13) - any of those are 1/day

Another variant: Yurian (Fiend Folio) with both Half-Farspawn and Half-Illithid templates

Anything with the Pseudonatural template (either the one from the Epic Level Handbook, or the non-epic one from Complete Arcane).

Do eyestalks count as tentacles? How about an elephant's trunk, or a prehensile tail? Or a snake's entire body?

MMV's spirrax has six tentacles and gains two more when its 'putrid form' activates.

From the same book, the spawn of juiblex has a potentially limitless number of tentacles: if it hits a creature with its slam, it covers that creature with slime, and it can subsequently make a tentacle attack originating from every slimed creature within 100 ft.

And the same book of course also has thoon mind flayers.

In addition to the aforementioned Bonedrinker (and its Lesser variant), the Monster Manual III also has the Mindshredder Larva and Mindshredder Zenthal, the Lifeleech Otyugh, the Prismatic Roper, and any creature with the Voidmind template.

Also, are you looking specifically for creatures with a "tentacle" natural weapon, or are you looking more generally for creatures with a tentacular aesthetic? If the latter, I'd also suggest from that book the Vasuthant, the Prismatic Golem and the Odopi might be worth considering.

Monsters of Faerun includes the Deathkiss Beholderkin (which has ten blood-draining tentacles instead of eye-rays), one form of the Yochlol demon, the Gulguthydra, the Malaugrym, and the Deepspawn and Banelar if you're looking for tentacle aesthetics (the former has three tentacles but if used as a natural weapon they're listed as "slap" in the statblock, the latter's tentacles are too weak to be used as natural attacks).
