Long and short of this, I've been incredibly bored lately, and I've got ideas for games to run. The issue is I am quite lacking in IRL players to get such things up and running, so I'm here to see what we can possibly make happen.

But as this is a collaborative game/story telling experience, I want to leave the possibilities up to the group. So I'm going to list a few things, and let's see what happens. It is definitely important to note: due to forum instability, I plan on running any such game on discord. It will still be a play-by-post format, but this should help keep things organized between channels as well as keep the game flowing.

Ideas:

The Trials of the Gods, based on the plane Amonkhet from the Magic: The Gathering universe. Heavy ancient Egyptian themes and character designs, players striving to achieve eternal glory and worth through various tests. The trials include challenges of combat, wit, thinking outside of what is being presented immediately, skill challenges (not the best 8 before 3 thing 4th edition did), and more!

The Legend of Zelda: ISTGINTFP (working title). The world is currently at peace, but trouble can occur anywhere, even in the best of times. The Kingdom is between cycles of heroes and demon kings, so don't expect to see any chosen one or desert warlock in a cowboy hat.

Alternative: you have a big idea? Pitch it. Let's see what we can make of it!

Sounds interesting.

I'd play Trials of the Gods.

Those are some neat ideas. Not personally interested myself, but if the floor is still open I'd like to throw a pitch out there. Admittedly, I don't have much of a solid idea behind it but... Well I've been feeling in a kind of Warcraft mood as of late. So playing in a Warcraft-based campaign sounds really appealing to me. And there were those Warcraft/WoW d20 RPG books, which is pretty much 3rd edition, eh?

Seconding this, and also making this face: 🥺 for added manipulation.

Ideally I was working on something similar to your trial of the gods idea but doing this in the period of the Forgotten Realms's Times of Troubles (were all gods were stripped of their divine ranks). The players (roughly level 20) are individuals whom have been given the godspark to potentially be the next generation of deities. Though their advancement would be based on adherence to their portfolio's/domains and amassing followers. This was for 5th edition which is the one I am most familiar with. But in essence the point of such a game was to explore what it means to be a god, responsibilities of having the divine, and consequences there in.

Sadly I don't know enough about the Azeroth to make a meaningful story or game in it. I played wow for days at most (literally), and most of my knowledge comes from playing RoC and TFT, as well as reading associated handbooks that came with them.

That would possibly be a fun game, but I wasn't looking for something so high in level. That said, I've got a few here and there saying they would be interested, perhaps we could actually get a 10 man together and run Amonkhet. Who knows?

HA! Jokes on you, I don't recognize, understand, or comprehend emojis, in the slightest. To quote Lrrr, leader of the planet Omicron Persei 8, "they confuse and enrage me!"

A team of heroes are engaged by a dubious figure to try and infiltrate and steal a ancient scroll of music from the private estate of an elemental lord. But the scroll is part of the music of creation, the elemental lord and the guy who hired the party seem to be working together, and even the minions guarding the estate have their own agendas. Someone is trying to help the party commit the theft, so that they can get caught. Someone wants the music to stay lost, least the Heavens tremble. And others want to use all this as distraction for their own schemes.

And yes, I would want to be playing a bard/seeker of the song in this scenario. :)

Okay. Regardless whether or not I participate, I put my vote to this idea.

I'm not personally familiar with Amonkhet. But I already play some games on discord, so why not to try something new? I usually have no problems with posting at least once a day, on discord or not. Bonus points if I can use some of my already generated characters... but even if level (or required role) mismatch will be too big, I'm not against making another one.

I have run a game based on the Tyranny computer game, it lasted a dozen sessions until I had to move cities due to work.

It can fit the trial by gods quite well.
