What is the expert better that anyone else at?

Would you be willing to play it?

What do you use for low level thieves?

Do you ever use adepts?

Is it true that the two weapon fighting samurai is worse that a warrior?

(1) nothing, he's only "expert" compared to NPC classes.
(2) no.
(3) low-level thieves.
(4) no.
(5) yes.

My opinion is that the entire concept of NPC classes is silly, and it was only put in the DMG to offset an important flaw in the skill system (specifically, that it doesn't allow NPCs to be highly skilled in something, unless they are also high-level characters). The idea that some cities have twentieth-level commoners in them is completely absurd.

On an interesting side note, I hear warriors are better than monk too.

Experts are better than Fighters. They get to use UMD and Spellcraft efficiently!

I'm trying to make an 'optimized' adept, but I can't find any good PrCs due to the divine casting...

If you did want to play as an Adept, you would probably be better off modifying it so that it gets Cleric-type spell progression (or you could use a Shugenja ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shugenja_%28Dungeons_%26_Dragons%29 ) being as they are similar HD, BAB and armour wise while having full spellcasting: http://www.devinweb.com/shugenjaspells.htm and http://www.devinweb.com/shugenjaschoolspells.htm . I'm not sure how those schools work, though).
