View Full Version : Does Graft Flesh feat allows for standard races (elves, humans ecc.) grafts?

This is an excerpt from Exemplars of Evil:

Lust
A villain motivated by lust covets something and is driven to
distraction by her desire to acquire it. Lust often implies a physi
cal attraction to another being, but it also includes base greed.
Example (Immortality): Believing that elves hold the
secret of eternal life, a power-mad warlord musters his armies
to conquer the natives of an ancient sylvan forest so that he
can graft their fl esh to his own

Beside using a Wish or a Miracle, the only plausible way I found to do something similar is the Graft Flesh feat, which do not (technically) requires to be spellcaster either since the only prerequisite are those 10 ranks in Heal. Albeit I guess that the aforementioned warlord could simply pay a cleric or a wizard to do the work for him.

So, in your opinion, can the Graft Flesh feat be used to transplant organs and limbs from more "conventional" races (elves, humans, dwarves ecc. rather than undead, fiends, beholder)?

And the idea of the warlord in Exemplars of Evil could work? Prolong lifespan by replacing ageing body parts like a living Frankenstein monster?

I think there's an illithid graft that's just grafting another humanoid's skin to yours, could be a solid starting point.

In general, though: I think that wanting to graft on an elf's limbs is just a flavor choice, the same way getting a tattoo or being born with six fingers is. There's generally no rules governing such mechanically unimpactful choices, so you'll have to bring in your DM.

As for a mechanical justification, there is the Mortal Hunter class from Book of Vile Darkness, which allows you to graft a flesh of a mortal creature to yourself in order to be able to polymorph as a supernatural ability into said creature - the prestige class, however, require you to be an Outsider and has 3-feat tax (Alertness, Track and Mortalbane) and a +5 BAB requirement, which limits your choices a tad bit when it comes to a race and class choice.

As far as any other consequences go, such as extending your life, this is mainly fluff and as Inevitability mentioned it should be discussed with your DM. If you are the DM yourself - go wild, personally I wouldn't make any strict rules regarding such issues, albeit that is just my point of view.

I just wanted to find some rationalization to the adventure plot in Exemplars of Evil.

Although Occam's razor may be applied too: mabye the warlord is just a delusional idiot.

How about the different approach? -
Craft Construct (https://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsterFeats.htm#craftConstruct) feat
Half-Golem template (Monster Manual II) - with Flesh Golem made of elven bodies
Verran’s Flesh Golems (https://web.archive.org/web/20161101213428/http://archive.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/mm/mm20010511a) (or Crystal (https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0971.html)) - so "golem parts" wouldn't be so oversized
The Golem Master PrC from Kingdoms of Kalamar:
Craftsmanship (Ex): At 7th level the golem master's creations are sturdy and durable. Furthermore, they are uniformly seamless and attractive. Flesh golems look like living creations, clay golems are often colored like ornate pottery, and stone golems have bas-reliefs, colorful glyphs or semiprecious stones embedded in them. Her golems have an additional +2 AC (natural armor), +2 Hit Dice and 10 extra hit points.
