It’s been along trip to fort-outpost NF23 were you received transfer order for just a few weeks ago. You had been told you were to be organized into a new unit but other than that you’d been given little information as to this new post. As you step out of the back of the transport you can see that the Fort is really built in the middle of a mountain pass taking advantage of the walls on both sides. Anyone moving threw the pass would have to go threw the base to continue on there way. You can tell from the small number of buildings inside the walls that many of the buildings such as the barracks must be with in the mountain walls.

Suddenly you here a booming voice "Specialized Unit Omega 7 fall in line" here your new unit number you fall into line with 5 others before the man who had given the fall in order. "I am Colonel Karn the commanding officer of this base. Now lets see what we have here" Looks down at a clip board with attached papers.

"Ah good we'll start at the top" walking over to Celeste "Captain Celeste Guerrier, commander of Omega 7, says here your a combat control expert specialized with the long chain" He stop momentarily looking her over "Interesting"

Taking a step over he says "Healer Broadshield, Cleric class, unit front line combat healer. Very good we have very few full fledged Clerics in our Medical corps here"

Continuing his move down the line "Lieutenant Gilraen, second in command of the unit, two weapon combat style expert"

"Warrant Officer Harkness, has you official labeled as a front line two weapon expert, also notes your well known for extreme speed, never seen that before"

"Sergent Heldar" He looks down at his papers again "well I have your rank and past posts but as for your area of expertise that section is missing. Blasted Clerical error"

"Specialist Furtado, seems to be missing, wait Halfling" moving his clipboard aside he sees Furtado "Sorry about that don't get many Halflings, says here your a Information specialist and tactical caster, you may be most useful"

"Take the rest of the to move in to your barracks, get the lay of the base and know each other because tomorrow Omega 7, will have to start proving what they are made of, DISMISSED."

Its not a huge fort but on base you will find a mess hall, bar, Armory, Pelorian temple with shrines to other gods, connected to the temple is hospital. Omega 7 has its own room in the barracks, with a work desk a more room than any of you have ever had to your selfs in a barracks in the past.

Agamil Furtado

The halfling was less than four feet tall; he understood perfectly why the colonel had not noticed him. He was used to not being particularly noticed when around busy humans. During his first years in the Archivist Institute he realized that passing unnoticed by humans didn't came without some advantages.

Agamil’s light-brown wavy hair would go as far as his shoulders, it didn’t seem like the halfling cared about his look, as long as his hair weren’t full of ants or his clothes entirely covered in mud, or blood for that matter. He wore a very simple, worn out, and slightly tattered on the bottom, gray traveling cloak; a gift of his grandparent. It was the only piece of cloth on him that made his hair actually look clean. Under the cloak a tight hoary and metallic armor was visible covering the halfling’s chest and waist. Speaking of which, on the right side of his waist he carried two small quivers, one black and the other brown. Strapped to his back was a large wooden bow.

“Well then comrades, like the Colonel said, my name is Agamil Ponciano Furtado”, he makes a simple nod with his head towards the group, “should we get going to the barracks now, or explore the fort area?”. A dim curiosity tone could be noticed in the halfling’s voice by the more perceptive ones.

Gilraen

Gilraen is a tall, muscular man, with broad shoulders and strong arms. His eyes are a deep grey color and his shoulder-length brown hair is tied back in a warriors tail. Underneath his clothes you can just glimpse the silvery sheen of the elven armor he wears, on his back you can see a bow of extraordinary quality and two rather large blades, which are the legendary twin bastard swords his great-grandfather crafted and wielded when the war just started.

He is an amiable enough fellow, but like most soldiers can be a bit gruff. When he first served in the military he got a cut straight across his left eye, leaving a scar that reaches down all the way to his jaw, it tends to scare people off, but hey, what soldier doesn't have a scar or two.

Looking at the rest of the group he introduces himself: "Well I'm Gilraen son of Galdorin and this here is Agrael, my faithful companion, pleased to meet you." he says, gesturing toward the rather large looking wardog. "I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I sure could use a bite of somethink to eat right now, lets check out the mess first, the barracks will still be there in an hour" he replies to the halfling.

Varthol Heldar

This Human of average height and slim build before you appears to be a competent light-fighter, to judge by his arms and armor. He wears a well-made chain shirt that seems too light to be made of steel. There is a dagger strapped to each leg, and on each arm, plus one more on his belt, across from a small pouch. Over his right shoulder you can see the hilt of a longsword, and a cap of a quiver. Over his left should, a finely crafted longbow is visible. Also visible is the edge of a shield.
His strangely slitted eyes glow violet, contrasting with his shoulder-length dark reddish hair, even though it's tied back. He raises his gauntleted right hand as a hawk swoops down to land.

Grinning, I chuckle, That seems to happen regularly. Probably also part of why promo's aren't regular. Varthol Heldar by name, scout of sorts by training, somewhat crazy by nature. Call me Var. I don't know about the rest of you, but, I'm planning on dropping some of my stuff in our barracks. That is, unless boss-lady wants to say something to us. I turn and face the aforementioned boss-lady, Captain Celeste Guerrier, and nod. As an afterthought, I nod at Lieutenant Gilraen as well.
Although, food does sound good right now.

A great smile overtakes the halfling’s face when the tall human named Gilraen brings up the subject food. If there is something that Agamil enjoys as much as a good book, is food; but no one putting their eyes for the first time on the halfling would guess that by his slim build. “That would be a great idea sir”, and then he saw it.

He took a few steps behind when he laid his eyes on the dog. It was there all along, but if Gilraen had not mentioned he would not have noticed the canine, and he would be better off that way to tell you the truth. Agamil had a terrible fear of dogs. Small ones or big ones, he feared them all. He feared the smaller ones less than the big ones, because he knew the smaller wouldn’t attack him after an arrow or two against their noses. But Gilraen’s was big, bigger than big, and on top of that the canine seemed to have been bred for war; the smile on the face of the halfling soon disappeared, and again he took a few steps behind, vaguely hiding himself behind Varthol.

With a slightly worried voice he replied to the tall warrior, “You know what, I think I’ll visit the….the barracks with mister Varthol here whenever he is ready to go”.

Jack Harkness

Jack smiled thinly at his new compatriots. He was a short, wiry kid. His only concession to armor was a shirt of chainmail, and at either hip he wore a longsword and a handaxe that were well cared-for but otherwise unremarkable. He seemed, in fact, utterly unremarkable himself. He looked like any number of men in the army, and could have passed for any new recruit fresh from basic training.

"Sounds good to me," he said simply, though he nodded at their new commander in deference first.

Frederick is a tall and strong looking man. His beard is thick for a young soldeir like him and his hair is long and tied down, an obvious feature of a Pelorian Cleric. His breastplate shows a sun with the face of a bearded man, made of gold and silver. He keeps a hammer on his side and a bow, a quiver, a longsword and a shield on his back.

"You know, I would opt for leaving some things behind, as I'm carrying some things on my bag. Nourishment is essential, but Pelor will not take our food any faster than our equipment can take our strength." He says, with a smile.

"As you can see, I'm Frederick Broadshield and I'm going to be the one in charge of keeping you alive. But you better help me there too." His smile still on his face and his tone of voice is relaxed.

Celeste Guerrier

The tall blonde shows up at fort-outpost NF23 on a strong-looking war-horse. She sits tall, in a regal posture as she has to set an example for the rest of the troops. She has commanded small squads before, and she knows how important it is to keep her men focused and disciplined. "Against demons, lowering one's guard even a bit can be fatal" she thinks. She is wearing an emerald-colored headband around her head, contrasting and complementing her blue eyes and golden hair nicely. She looks to be wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the military's insignia, and a pair of sturdy leather breeches. Her boots are black. She would be considered toned, but not ovwerly muscled, and her chain hangs from a belt.

Arriving, she dismounts quickly, and sends her horse off with a squire to be stabled. As Celeste falls in line, her long radiant hair flows a bit behind her in the breeze. She raises her left hand in a salute as she stands in attention. "Sir yes sir! she says when Colonel Karn went over her area of expertise. She gives another salute when the unit is dismissed, and then turns cripsly to face the other members of the unit.

"Specialized Unit Omega 7 members, listen up! As you may or may not know, I am Captain Guerrier. Despite what the good Colonel said, we start proving ourselves TODAY. We are professionals, and that not only applies to the battlefield, but also to the little everyday things as well. We will go put away our things in the barracks, and then you are all free to go see the chef for food. There will be no slack or laziness in my unit, for the demons never tire in their march of destruction." With that, she grabs her things and turns to head towards the barracks.

Omega 7's barracks are in a 30 by 20 foot room with 3 sets of bunk beds. It in no way seems that the carpenters took to much time smoothing out the walls as they are still rough in many places and the corners of the room are rounded. Across from the bunk beds along the wall is a work desk and a set of 6 lockers with each member of the units name written on one.

With in Celeste's marked locker Celeste and only Celeste may find a letter with her name on one side and two seals on the other. The first seal is a black wax seal bearing the military s insignia the second is a read wax seal with a singe open eye on it. Celeste will instantly recognize this as meaning for your eyes only.

Anyone who goes to the Chow tent will see 3 rows of 5 table. Serving food behind a counter is who a short fat Orc who looks as if he may be part Hobgoblin as well. The letter reads:
Celeste Guerrier congratulations on your new post, how ever I feel that you must have at least a few questions. As I'm sure you know you have been given along with others in your unit a higher rank that even a normal specialist unit would be give. This is because you are not a normal specialist unit. When the war started the government began a project to bring powerful individuals into the control of the government. In those times these people were often free lance adventures with no tie to government, but could often meet challenges that the military could not. All these years later the program goes on Omega seeks out special individuals who are loyal to the nation, this war and our goals. We now can pull people from the ranks of the military to form these special units. Be aware that the people of your unit have fighting skills and abilities that rival that of many captains. Be aware that while you may take orders from Karn most of the time you are under a jurisdiction. There will be times when we modify or other wise change the directives given to you by Karn.
You may feel free to share this first bit of information with your unit, this next part however is need to know only and concerns Varthol Heldar.

Heldar is special in that he is what is known as a Hollowed. Hollowed are tied to ancient demons bound to a transqusiplane of existence long before recorded time. So powerful were they that the other demons of the abyss feared them and at great cost stored them away. When Graz'zt move are plane that planes seal was cracked and these demons were made connections to certain individuals. While we believe these demons are incredibly dangerous to us at this time there is nothing we can do to sever there connection to our plane. From what are research has showed even if Varthol were to die his demon would form a connection to a new person, a person that would perhaps be out of our control. While we feel this situation is dangerous we also feel that if we learn enough about these demons and connection to people like Varthol we may be able to harness there power to help win this war in a drastic way. We'll be asking you to file reports to us on a regular basis with a special focus on the action of Varthol. The demon may at times assume some amount of control over him especially when at times when Varthol calls on its powers. The demon is evil beyond any thing even you have seen but so far even in control Varthol has never attacked a comrade in all his years of service. Varthol did not ask for this he is not evil and you should not treat him as a monster but be careful of him as well.

We will be contacting you again shortly.

Signed,
Omega command.

Dark Gray is the barracks complex, it contains sleeping quarters, armory as well as Armor and weapon smithy on the main floor. The second floor is all sleeping quarters as well and the basement acts in much the same way with the addition of a great deal of storage space. The Smith does mostly repair work on Armor and Weapons and is the only Dwarf stationed on base, he has a number of assistance of other races working with him.

The Black is command central you will be receving missions in this building it is all so contains the quarters of Colonel Karn and his offices.

The light brown is open area in between the walls most often being used as a training area.

The Yellow is the Pelorian temple and smaller boxes to the side are smaller shrines.
The Pink is the hospital. Notable the temple and hospital are the only buildings built into the rock that have windows closer inspections reveals that metal plating can be pulled over the windows in times of heavy attack.

The green building is everyones favorite mess tent.

The blue building is the officers club and the red is the post office/general store. By General store I mean very general you can buy like playing cards, rope, occasional luxury good.

When the messenger walks through the door, Celeste is already half awake. She sits up, slightly groggy as she listens to the messenger, and says, "Thank you for the message. We'll be there shortly. You may go."

She quickly washes her face at a washing bin, making herself presentable. Then, she turns to her comrades. "Alright. The colonel says that we're to be readied when we go see him. And in my squad, readied means you are ready to do your duty as a soldier. Before you head out, you are expected to be in any armor you usually fight in, and your weapons must be at your side."

For Celeste, getting ready is almost trivial, as all she has to do to take a few seconds to put on her army-regulation clothes, strap on her weapons, and she is done. Looking at Gilraen, she adds, "Lieutenant, if you would be so kind as to get some of the breakfast that is not very messy to carry, I'd appreciate it. Once Captain Guerrier makes it Karn's offices and brief room, she finds the the briefing room filled. Looking around the room she sees that the room has been set up with room for a total of 3 squads two squads are all ready in the room and both have Captain rank members.

"Nice of you to join us Captain Guerrier, it would also be nice to see the rest of your squad but, let me guess they stopped for breakfast?"

"I don't have time to wait so you can fill your squad in as need be. I should first introduce you to Captain Slegis and Captain Tora" Karn points out the two other Captains as he says there names.

Both of the Captains are wearing full Golem armor with the exception of the helmets. Captain Slegis is human of dark skin color and hair sitting next to him is a Maul and Heavy shield.

"Now down to it about an hour ago we found out that a caravan of 3 cargo trucks and may be in our area outside the 'safe' zone. The 3 trucks are color coded Yellow, Blue and Green. Yellow and blue contain materials from a mining operation that the 'nomes' are working on and are of great strategic importance. Are mission is to recover yellow and blue, as well as green if possible. I'm attaching a hunter group to each of your units for this mission. The search are has been divied up into 3 areas one for each of your groups, Captain Slegis will take the easter most area, Captain Tora the western and Captain Guerrier the Nothern most. As well your units are to be given flares with corresponding colors to be launched when each convoy truck is found as well as an assistance flare if you get in over your heads. Any questions?"

Gilraen

Hurrying over with his and the captains breakfast, Gilraen steps quietly into the room as he can hear that the Colonel has already started "... our area outside the 'safe'zone. ..."
Well, he could have given us a bit more time. Or maybe the messenger got delayed or something.
He sits down next to Celeste and without speaking gives her the breakfast he had gotten for her. Then he listenes intently as he eats his own breakfast.

Arriving shortly after Gilraen, I curse mentally, and slip into one our seats. " ... The 3 trucks are ..."

hmm, interesting for a briefing. If we found out an hour ago, why'd it take so long to get us all together?

“Something is gonna happen. Something is gonna happen.”, running like a madman the way Agamil was he knew something was bound to happen, when he sees Varthol on the distance, heading towards the tent, “I guess I’m not that late, there is mister Vart--”, WHAM; with a somewhat loud noise he tripped on his own legs just outside the colonel tent’s door as his mind started to go back to the breakfast.

“ At least it wasn’t inside the tent, miss Celeste would probably beat me senseless” he thought as he cleared the dust and sand on his clothes, getting up and silently entering the tent to sit beside Gilraen, Varthol and captain Guerrier, when the colonel began to mention the trucks’ colors.

Celeste gives a salute at the beginning of the meeting, and says, "I am pleased to make your acquaintence, Captain Tola and Captain Slegis."

She listens to the briefing with interest. At the end, she asks, So, we are to scour the region looking for any sign of these supply wagons, and then escort them back to this base safely? Am I correct? And, we should prioritize the green wagon below the other wagons?

StickMan

"Yes that would be correct, the green wagon is a secondary objective only" Looking at the members of the unit wandering it he says with a twitching eye "Captain Guerrier your new here so I'll let this slide this time but when you are summoned to my brief room I expect your whole unit to arrive quickly"

If there are no other questions Karn starts to turn off to the side and says "I expect all teams to leave with in the half hour, good luck"

Captain Guerrier gives a crisp, "Yes sir." without flinching. When all of the squad has gathered around, she'll turn to them and say, "You heard the Colonel. From now on, now means NOW, and not 'after breakfast'. You now all have a little bit of time to do any last minute business you may have. Meet me at the base entrance. We leave in 10 minutes."

"Yes, ma'am!" He says without hesitating.

Frederick walks fast towards the barracks and gathers his equipment. It's going to be a rescue mission of sorts. I would guess we will find enemies along the way, but Pelor will protect us.

After gathering all of what he will need, he walks to the entrance and waits for the rest of the team.

Hells. I think to myself.
Why do I have the feeling that this isn't gonna be as easy as we think? Ah, well, see you guys at the gates.

I head to the entrance, calling Sekren to me on my way there.
While waiting for everyone else to show, I double-check the edges of my blades, and look out at the area beyond the gates to the north.

OOC: If there's a map of the area put up somewhere in the general areas of the base, Varthol will check it out first, but paying the most attention to the areas the group has been assigned. After looking at it briefly, he goes directly to the gates at a jog.

“Aye ma’am”, says the halfling with a saddened face after hearing that there would be no more breakfasts because the old grumpy colonel said so, and miss Guerrier confirmed. “And you would think a colonel would understand that man or halfling, we all need a full belly to fight”; with this thought in mind that the halfling runs back to the barracks in order to strap his old backpack to his back, and get his rather worn traveling cloak, to only then head to the gates.

He briefly checks his weapons and armor, finding both satisfactory, and heads off to the designated meeting spot. He doesn't need anything else for any mission his commanders might give him.

He confirms the orders with a silent salute and turns to the barracks. He only needs to get his backpack, everything he has is in it so he'd better hope he doesn't need anything else.
On his way to the gates he gives a sharp whistle and loudly calls "Agrael!!" and immediately the big dogs comes running out of the mess hall, where he had left him with a breakfast of his own.

Once the first member of the group come to the gate a man walks up to them and says
"I'm looking for Captain Guerrier, I'm Lieutenant Myers the head of the 5th Hunter unit we've been assigned to assist your group in your mission."

The chief from the mess tent is also at the gate passing out bread and other rations to toughs leaving to go on assignments. In addition there are small bowls that member of different groups are chowing down before they leave. If anyone asks about it he says:
"That is Dragons Breath chilly, one of my specialties, careful its hot"

popping out of no were the young boy who awoke the group says "By hot he means like a bowl full of lava, but its good stuff on cold winter days" dipping some bread in the chilly and taking a bite the boys face turns red, coughing he turns to the cook "WOW... nice batch Fraunk, thats a really good batch." Seeming quite pleased with himself Fraunk smiles in approval of the young boys comments, "My name is Raymond by the way, you can call me Ray. If you ever need anything just ask I've been living on this base most of my life so I know all the ins and outs"

She should be along shortly, Lieutenant. What exactly do you and your unit members specialize in? I respond to the soldier, looking him and his troops over. Heh, chain of command's gonna be a pain. So you don't tell him your rank - you're supposed to be clever enough to figure such things out, you know. You thought I was gonna give him my rank? You should know me better than that.

Bowl full of lava? Intriguing. I grab a bowl of chili, and start eating it. Mmm, nice.

Celeste is the first person to arrive, since she was already packed and geared. I am Captain Guerrier. Welcome, Lieutenant. Omega 7 welcomes your assistance. If you have time, would you please brief me on the capabilities of your hunter unit as we gather some foodstuffs for the trip?"

She walks slowly, chatting with Myers on the way to the chef. She is grateful for the chance to eat something before she goes, and takes a few day's worth of trail rations and and other non-perishables. When she sees the chili, she balks. "Wait a minute. I remember Dragon's Breath chili. The first time I had it my eyes actually watered for 5 minutes. Keep those chili away from me!" It appears that Captain Guerrier isn't fond of spicy foods.

Also anyone who tries the chili needs to make a fortitude saving throw. Sadly so far this only means Varthol Heldar but if others eat it as well they should make the save. Trust me its not all bad.

OOC: I thought it was somewhat of a simple interpretation that Agamil headed to the gates (like written on my previous post) and consequently arrived. Well, if it isnt I shall post again.

The halfling runs as fast as his little legs allow him to. He arrives sweaty and breathing heavily with his loaded backpack hanging from his right shoulder, almost flying from there when Agamil suddenly stopped in front of the group. Quickly he grabs the backpack and strap it on both shoulders this time, to only then salute miss Guerrier and the rest of the group with he proper military salute. Agamil receives his rations and store them away on his backpack while waiting for whatever comes next.

I'd say leave without them, but we might need them. C'mon, Captain, this is good. Best chili I've had. Doesn't even taste like it's from the military. Agamil, you'd like it.
