View Full Version : Yet another "stat yourself" threads

Yes we've all taken the test before, and we've all posted on these before. Yet the planets have once more aligned, and the ancient pagan gods of D&D demand yet another one of these threads. So, without further ado, what class, race alignment, and/or level are you? If you need help, here's (http://www.easydamus.com/character.html) a pretty comprehensive test, although it is almost entirely subjective and prevents a few "and/or" options which can be restrictive.
I'm a chaotic neutral human sorceror 1.
Strength- 16
Dexterity- 15
Constitution- 19
Intelligence- 17
Wisdom- 12
Charisma- 17

Odd that I've gotten a Constitution of 19 at first level with human. Probably have some template, hmmm.

Also interesting is the fact that I beat out evil only by one point. (Neutral:11 Evil: 10 Good... 1)

EDIt- my stats according to the thing-a-ma-bob:

I Am A: True Neutral Human Cleric/Sorcerer (2nd/1st Level)
Ability Scores:
Strength-13
Dexterity-13
Constitution-15
Intelligence-16
Wisdom-14
Charisma-14
Alignment:True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.<br>
Race:Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.
Primary Class:Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.
Secondary Class:Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

-My dex is too high! I'm cool with the rest though :smallcool:

As far as alignment, I can't tell...I had a feeling I was going to get LG as I was going through the test, but I prefer to think of myself as CG or LN.

It's okay; I probably have lower Str though, and I'd like to think I have higher Wis and Dex. Monk/Wizard sounds right to me, even though it's not quite optimal.

My detailed breakdown, actually tied between Monk and Wizard, and Human, Half-Elf and Halfling right behind Elf. I guess part of the reason I got elf was because I put "short" for height; I don't particularly like elves.

description of race/class/alignment
Alignment:
Lawful Good- A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Wizards- Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells.

Fairly accurate, the stats are perfect. I think of myself like this, though:

Lawful Good Human Paladin (4th Level)
Strength: 14
Dexterity: 13
Constitution: 18
Intelligence: 15
Wisdom: 17
Charisma: 11

I was rather pleased with my stats... though I think INT and WIS should be reversed, I do have a 170 IQ. Though to be fair my 170 comes primarily from my intuitive grasp of shapes/objects/items in spacial coordination. (i.e. here is a jumbled up picture - I see the complete picture without batting an eye) also for series type tests and related items types (i.e. Dire Wolf is to Animal as Vampire is to Undead type stuff) so I guess I can see a 17 WIS.

I've done one very similar to this before - the results set-up is the same, but it looks like they've nicked bits from several similar tests, some of which are mediocre at best - and got True Neutral Elf (or was it half-elf?) Druid (but I think it was even with Ranger).
I don't know about those ones, but I'd probably put my stats...

Charisma- 14 (I get along with almost everyone I know and regularly use the force of my personality to get what I want)

I can't precisely remember it (as I filled it in once and I'm too lazy to do it again) But I came out as a Chaotic Neutral Elven Wizard 1/ Sorcerer 1. Abilities were something like STR 9, DEX 10, CON 11, INT 14, WIS 11, CHA 11.
Yes, I have woefully bad stats. :smallfrown:

As far as druid stats go, pretty accurate. Maybe if it were a gestalt game...

So I'm... Gandalf as an Asthmatic kid? With pointy ears?
Or am I just the next incarnation of potential cheese abuse? Diplomancy as a Bard and Bear-a-mancy as a druid?

The true neutal thing is dead on, but I'd have pegged myself as a Gnome Wizard. Short, mischevious, and bookish. Thats me.

How does this test determine level? Is it based on the "how experienced are you" and age questions?

I should have more levels in sorcerer. And a higher dex.

Noticing everyone else's scores just makes me feel awesome.
And I can't complain, I think they got me pretty accurately. Maybe a warmage, rather than a wizard, but that's about the only thing that doesn't seem accurate. Allow me to justify.

Strength: I really am the strongest person I know. It's weird, because I don't know why or how I'm strong. I don't eat right, I don't exercise, but I've never been beaten in an arm-wrestle, I can lift ridiculous weight, and I'm always the guy they call for heavy lifting around here. Once, my brother decided to allow me one full-on hit, just to see what it'd do to him. I hit him straight in the chest and it was an hour and a half before the knuckle-marks went away.

Dexterity: I think it should be a little higher. I'm great at snowball fights because I've got a nice dodge, and I'm very good at minute details. Maybe a 14 or 15?

Constitution: I am a machine. I can't run for crap, but I can shrug off almost any wound. hell, I'm more likely to giggle about it than feel pain. Once, I fell off a scooter and skinned the side of my face, my elbow and my knee all at once, and deeply too. I was pouring blood. And the whole way home I was giggling my a** off. Ruined that entire outfit with the blood.

Intelligence: I have never in my entire life failed a test. I got maybe two C's, and those were because I'd been absent for the week prior to the tests. But if I've covered it, I've got it down.

Wisdom: My gut instinct is always right. And that's no gratuitous universal. The only time I make bad decisions is when I convince myself to go against my instincts. Stupid brain getting in the way of everything...

Charisma: Yeah, accurate. I'm not the most attractive fella, but I know how to talk to people, make them laugh, read their body language to know what's a good topic and what's not, and analyze their conversation and choice of words to learn all sorts of things about someone. Throw in a bottomless repertoire of stories and jokes, and you get a nice fourteen.

Hm. Just noticed my specifics at the bottom... As True Neutral as I am, I seem to tend heavily toward both Law and Good, but heavily away from Paladinhood. I'd also make a bad Monk. Like, -19 and -14, respectively.
Hmmm... If ever I found an online game, maybe I'll create a character inspired by this thing.

I suppose that makes sense, as long as you define Lawful Good as "following a personal code" rather than "The Party is always right." The stats make sense too, mostly because I was pretty honest/humble. Physically fit, though not notably so, bright but not genius-level, particularly insightful for my age and relatively charming.

Plus I'm slim and elfy. I'm not sure about being a band-aid box, but if this test allows Divine Metamagic...

Hehe. -23 paladin.

You can get your real Strength pretty easily.

Use deadlift and shoulder presses or jerks to determine your overhead and lift off the ground load. Then compare that to the carrying capacity tables. These tests give you way higher stats than you usually deserve. 18 is the maximum unmodified human! My strength is certainly not a 16, but more like a high 14-low 15.

Lawful Good Human Sorcerer (2nd Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 11
Dexterity- 9
Constitution- 12
Intelligence- 16
Wisdom- 10
Charisma- 10

However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Sorcerers- Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline.

I don't know where it got the Strength of 10 from, because I am an utter wimp in that regard. I'd lower my Charisma too, and maybe my Int too, though my Dex is a bit better than that I think. Con is about right, as I haven't been physically sick for years, and I think my Wis is decent.

A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.<br>

Race: Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class: Druids gain power not by ruling nature but by being at one with it. They hate the unnatural, including aberrations or undead, and destroy them where possible. Druids receive divine spells from nature, not the gods, and can gain an array of powers as they gain experience, including the ability to take the shapes of animals. The weapons and armor of a druid are restricted by their traditional oaths, not simply training. A druid's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that they can cast.

Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Race:
Gnomes are in wide demand as alchemists, inventors, and technicians, though most prefer to remain among their own kind in simple comfort. Gnomes adore animals, gems, and jokes, especially pranks. They love to learn by personal experience, and are always trying new ways to build things. Gnomes stand 3 to 3.5 feet tall and live about 350 to 500 years.

Class:
Bards- Bards often serve as negotiators, messengers, scouts, and spies. They love to accompany heroes (and villains) to witness heroic (or villainous) deeds firsthand, since a bard who can tell a story from personal experience earns renown among his fellows. A bard casts arcane spells without any advance preparation, much like a sorcerer. Bards also share some specialized skills with rogues, and their knowledge of item lore is nearly unmatched. A high Charisma score allows a bard to cast high-level spells.

Chaotic Good Human Ranger (4th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 15
Dexterity- 16
Constitution- 14
Intelligence- 17
Wisdom- 16
Charisma- 15

Alignment:
Chaotic Good- A chaotic good character acts as his conscience directs him with little regard for what others expect of him. He makes his own way, but he's kind and benevolent. He believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society. Chaotic good is the best alignment you can be because it combines a good heart with a free spirit. However, chaotic good can be a dangerous alignment because it disrupts the order of society and punishes those who do well for themselves.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Rangers- Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

How easily does IQ convert to Int? I would have thought that having IQ 100 being equal to Int 10 with every 5 IQ points above or below 100 equalling 1 Int point? (eg: an IQ of 87 would be rounded down to Int 7, and an IQ of 130 would equal Int 16). I thought I'd ask because I typically get lower Int scores and higher Wis scores then I'd give myself in real life (I have an IQ of 129, so I'd translate that as Int 16, and I'd gve myself a Wis of 8, while tests typically give me about 13 Int and around 13 for Wis. I personally think of myself as having these stats:

Str: 8 Dex: 14 Con: 14 Int: 16 Wis: 8 Cha: 12 Neutral Good Human Wizard.

I'll do the test again later to check the stats, but I got Chaotic Neutral Wizard from the class and alignment.

How can they justify giving a 19 in any stat, is my question. That means that Super-Human.

Not always. My results statted me with a 19, and level 5. I had one stat bump.

A little fragile and physically weak for a paladin, but thats true for me.
I don't see myself as being THAT charismatic, though.

As far as intelligence is concerned... I've always had problems with how to determine intelligence. Some people mistake it for education, which doesn't seem accurate. IQ tests can be trained for (and aren't that convincing at all).
The only way to reasonably guess someone's intelligence is to have a lot of long, intense conversations with said person, I assume.
And even then I'd be reluctant to describe it with a number.

Edit: Tempest: I am also not sure about how you'd measure intelligence. I know a lot of people who are a hell of a lot smarter than me but just lazy, and get worse grades, and a lot of people who probably aren't as objectively "quick" as I am, but work harder and get the same or better. IQ tests don't tell you all that much, grades depend a lot on work ethic, the teacher, and a lot of personal factors, and even long, written examinations are bound to be biased by writing skill and what mood the grader is in/how objective they want to be. In the end I think intelligence is a lot like wisdom in that there's not really a way to test for it--you can't get raw brain power, only results.

Of course, for many real world applications results are what you want--it's not just how smart you are, but how hard you work, how skilled you are at adapting to new situations, etc. Still, it'd be nice to be able to find out, objectively, what kind of potential there is.

Charisma is another tricky one, of course, because it's a combination of so many different things. Being likeable is very different from being attractive or good at manipulating people, and all would count toward a high charisma score.

I actually would say that education is a better gauge of Int then IQ. I see Int as much an indicator of mental stamina as Con is for physical stamina. Why stamina...because to learn skills, learn spells (woot technical manuals, protocols, and textbooks) you need stamina to make your mind stare at, and process, stuff all day long, day after day after day (8th year of university for me with at least 2 more years left until the PhD is done and 2-3 more after that for a post-doc). The process of taking advanced classes forces you to learn real study habits, and structures your modes of thinking (to whatever focus your studies are on).

Someone who is just bright, or quick witted but either with no formal education yet or no desire for one often (key word as there are always a few exceptions to everything) has not developed this stamina. They are better stat'ed out by either having Wis (wise beyond their year, intuition) or Cha (UMD is the perfect example...they wing it and come off looking bright, smart and talented).

Alignment:
Neutral Evil- A neutral evil villain does whatever he can get away with. He is out for himself, pure and simple. He sheds no tears for those he kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. He has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make him any better or more noble. On the other hand, he doesnt have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has. Some neutral evil villains hold up evil as an ideal, committing evil for its own sake. Most often, such villains are devoted to evil deities or secret societies. Neutral evil is the best alignment you can be because you can advance yourself without regard for others. However, neutral evil can be a dangerous alignment because it represents pure evil without honor and without variation.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Primary Class:

Secondary Class:
Sorcerers- Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline.

Looks pretty accurate to me. I'm one of the strongest and smartest people I know, but tend to get sick fairly often. For the charisma, I'm definitely not a looker, but I'm pretty good at manipulating people.

Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Primary Class:
Druids- Druids gain power not by ruling nature but by being at one with it.

Secondary Class:
Sorcerers- Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Those are good points about Int (admittedly, I tend to see not putting ffort in at school as indicating low Wis, which is ironic because I made sure I put a lot of effort in). Another problem with education is that a lack of opportunities can get in the way of going onto college and university (eg: until the '60s, class was typically the biggest influence in regards to what sort of secondary school you went to in the UK: the 11+ which was introduced in '44 attempted to appear meritocratic, but typically middle class males got to go to grammar schools while everyone else typically want to lower quality comprehensives, and there were too few technical school places for them to be a real alternative).

Thats fair, and I think it sums me up too.

I thought the test was acceptable for the stats part - however, the later bit was incredably leading, with too many x or y questions. It put me as sorcerer, which I dont see working. See, I'm smart, and I tend to doss around with minimum effort most of the time and blast out work when I have to get it in, which obviously both lowered my Int and put me in Sorc. HOwever when i do apply myself I do awesomely well academicaly, so I'd think more wizard, albeit a lazy non-batman one.

Stats were as I suspected - below average physical, average Wis and Cha, and very high Int, something like:

Str: 10
Dex: 7
Con: 8
Int: 17/18
Wis: 11
Cha:12

(I didnt write it down)

I guess it's all sort of accurate. CG is for sure. Ranger is as well, though i'd pick myself for a Bard sooner.

The str/dex/con question can be a little misleading. I'm a fit guy, i can bench just over my body weight, even take some hits without going down, but i would never put money on myself to win a fight. Ever. I'm tall and lean. I don't get sick often, if ever, and i can withstand harsh climate conditions, but my stamina is lacking. I can't run for long without getting winded no matter how often i run.

Wis/Int are kinda tricky too. I have a good memory for some things (i can remember how to get to and from anywhere after visiting it once) but definitely not for others (names, faces, lists.) And as was similarly noted earlier, I'm very intelligent when applied, but i don't really have enough actual technical stored knowledge to truthfully be rated that intelligent.

I ought to be more like:
Strength-12
Dexterity-13
Constitution-12
Intelligence-14
Wisdom-16
Charisma-18

Don't worry, my ego barely got in the way. :smallamused:

They almost always are on these tests. No one likes to hear "You are a True Neutral Human Commoner 1 with the Crappy Array"

Plus the ones that have quantifiable data tend to be way off as well "I can bench press a lot, but can't carry much or jump or climb far..."

Class:
Paladins- Paladins take their adventures seriously, and even a mundane mission is, in the heart of the paladin, a personal test an opportunity to demonstrate bravery, to learn tactics, and to find ways to do good. Divine power protects these warriors of virtue, warding off harm, protecting from disease, healing, and guarding against fear. The paladin can also direct this power to help others, healing wounds or curing diseases, and also use it to destroy evil. Experienced paladins can smite evil foes and turn away undead. A paladin's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that they can cast. Many of the paladin's special abilities also benefit from a high Charisma score.

Mostly it was the idea that my "ideal" class is sorceror; while I certainly prefer them to wizards (who I hate), I'll take a fighting type over caster any day. Fighter and Ranger were joint-second choices.

Alignment:
Neutral Good- A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order.

Bards- Bards often serve as negotiators, messengers, scouts, and spies. They love to accompany heroes (and villains) to witness heroic (or villainous) deeds firsthand, since a bard who can tell a story from personal experience earns renown among his fellows. A bard casts arcane spells without any advance preparation, much like a sorcerer. Bards also share some specialized skills with rogues, and their knowledge of item lore is nearly unmatched. A high Charisma score allows a bard to cast high-level spells.

Secondary Class:

Chaotic Neutral Human Ranger (2nd Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 11
Dexterity- 17
Constitution- 12
Intelligence- 14
Wisdom- 13
Charisma- 11

Alignment:
Chaotic Neutral- A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). A chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it. Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom from both society's restrictions and a do-gooder's zeal. However, chaotic neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it seeks to eliminate all authority, harmony, and order in society.

Seems a bit inflatied on the physical end. While in very good shape, there is no way I can deadlift 300lbs over my head. Closer to 130, which puts me at 12 or 13.

It is because all of the questions are relative, rather than objective. Someone with 10 strength that hangs around 8's would score an 18, while someone with 14 strength who hangs around 16's might score an 8.

Class:
Clerics- Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds.

Human Wizard/Sorcerer
Strength- 13
Dexterity- 12
Constitution- 12
Intelligence- 15
Wisdom- 9
Charisma- 11

Yeash, sorcerer isn't a good choice with that charisma stat. Honestly, I'm not cut out to be much of a PC with these. I either did this test badly or it pads the scores, because my Wisdom should be below a 9 and my strength is more average at best. I think I'm more like:
Stength-9
Dexterity-10
Constitution-11
Intelligence-16/17
Wisdom-7
Charisma-11

I could be a decent wizard with those stats. Though sorcerer actually fits my style more, I tend to screw tedious memorization and wing it when possible.

Not a bad test. I think the attributes are fairly accurate, although I would probably drop my Str a bit. I think the only reason the test scored me with a 12 is because I said I'd definitely harm an oppenent if I hit as hard as I could, but it's because I fight dirty and will strike vulnerable/sensitive areas not because I'm particularly strong...SNEAK ATTACK!

I enjoy the carefree, teamwork-based style of the bard, though I wish I had better class abilities. :smallfrown: Also, while I love music, I just can't sing worth a crap and I never really learned an instrument. I guess I'm an oratory bard.

I might not make the best/most optimized character, but I'd have fun and be fun to hang out with. Along the same lines, my feats include Great Fortitude, Improved Initiative, and Obtain Familiar (cat). Skill points have mostly been dumped into an assortment of knowledges and Sense Motive.

I think I'll just do it by non-test and go with a train of thought instead, giving myself more adventurer credit:

Khosan, Level 2 Bard
Str - 7 (Weak as a kitten, can barely bench press the bar itself)
Dex - 12 (Bit clumsy, but decently quick)
Con - 8 (Very often sick, frail)
Int - 16 (Redeeming quality, if I put my mind to something I can accomplish quite a bit)
Wis - 13 (I'm no paragon of Zen Buddhism, but I can maintain a general clarity of thought and keep a calm demeanor despite a stressful situation)
Cha - 12 (It's the voice)

Max ranks in:
Bluff
Concentration
Hide
Knowledge (Pop Culture)
Listen
Move Silently
Perform (Wordplay)
Profession (Programmer), or would it be Craft (Video Game)?

Couple other skill points left. Probably in something like Speak Language (German), Use Technological Device and Listen.

Chaotic Good Human Ranger 1/Bard 1

Ability Scores:
Strength- 10
Dexterity- 11
Constitution- 11
Intelligence- 16
Wisdom- 17
Charisma- 11

This is pretty accurate, as my only redeeming qualities are my mental stats. IQ tests put me around 133-135, so that'd be a 16 or 17 in intelligence, and my wisdom is awesome mostly because I have a ridiculously good gut feeling about people and can know exactly how people I know well are feeling with just a cursory glance.

I would put my stats more like this though.....

Strength - 10. Considering my smallness and skinnyness, I do well in this regard.
Dexterity - 12. I think I'm pretty agile and well balanced, but I could be wrong.
Constitution - 8. I cannot run for any distance. Ever.
Intelligence - 17. Test was about right.
Wisdom - 17. Test was right.
Charisma - 14? This is the one I'm least sure about because it's a tricky stat to define. I'm not outgoing and gregarious, nor am I good looking, but I am a very nice guy and most people will like me if they actually take the chance to know me, which is difficult because of how little I talk.

The system for converting IQ to Int I've always used was just to drop the last digit. 80's = 8, 90's = 9, 100's = 10, 110's = 11, 120's = 12, etc.

It may not be a perfect system, but it functions fairly well, especially for a fantasy-based RPG. 16s', 17's, and 18's are supposed to represent the smartest people who ever lived, which would definitely rank them higher on the IQ charts than a 130 (not that rare of an IQ result in recent years). I'll bet if we started or researched a GitP IQ thread, many playgrounders would report IQ's in the 110-130 range. I think I read that the highest IQ scored to date was 228 (and the test was conducted on a child; children typically rating higher on IQ charts than adults due to a number of factors).

When I got a 129 on the IQ test on http://uk.tickle.com/ (I casn't remember which test it was, and my previous test results seem to have avanished from my account), I got a free report about the results due to being in the top 5 (I think) percent of people who took the test. Also, a few years back, a Test the Nation IQ quiz on TV found the average IQ in the UK was either 105 or 110, so I'd say that having 5 IQ points equating to 1 Int point makes more sense (there is a chance that the Test the Nation figure was higher then the actual averaage due to people with higher IQs being more interested in the idea of doing that sort of quiz). There is also a distinct possibility that more people are getting higher IQ test results due to more people going into higher education (in the past, they wouldn't have had these sorts of opportunities if they came from a working class background). While it is hard to translate Int into a real life equivalent, the idea of all the best apprentice Wiards having IQs of 180 seems improbable due to how the chances are that only a very small number of people would have that sort of IQ in real life.

Somehow, I doubt tickle's test results are statistically significant or really that reliable. Even the "Ph.D. certified" tests should really only be considered "for fun." (I'm not saying that your IQ isn't approaching 130, just that tickle's measurement system isn't likely to be a valid tool for measuring IQ. But, then again, see what I say about IQ tests in general, below! :smallcool: )

:smallconfused: That makes absolutely no sense, considering average IQ should be, by definition, IQ 100. (More about global IQ baselines, below.)

1 Int = 5 IQ points? Okay, so a D&D character with a 10 Int has a 50 IQ? Or, are you saying that 1 Int above 10 equates to 5 IQ points? Does the same measurement apply for lower-end Int/IQs?

It's hard to translate IQ into a real-life equivalent!

By modern standards, even professionals generally consider IQ an outdated and somewhat meaningless measure as it typically only tests participants on one to three scales of intelligence (typcially logic, general knowledge, and mathematical skills). Also, since IQ tests tend to be cultrure specific, you can't really determine a sold global baseline or reliable methods of comparison as the general knowledge part of the test (usually a sizable chunk) can't be translated fairly between cultures. Even the logic, mathematics, and other typical IQ measurements can't really be translated across cultures because different cultures tend to value different types of intelligence. Hence, IQ comparisons can only be used to compare individuals from the same culture/background. Even within a single nation, you're likely to find vast cultural differences between individuals. Within the U.K. alone, you're likely going to need somewhat different IQ tests for each of the variety of ethnicities and perhaps even social classes! Scientists figured this out years ago while trying to apply IQ tests to Army recruits and found recruits from the south, particularly African American and Native American recruits were testing far lower on the IQ scales than expected, apparently because much of the terminology in the "general knowledge" section of the tests was practically a foreign language to them. For an example, and maybe just for the fun of it, try taking this (http://robertsmanor.com/pics/Public/Funny/stories/SouthernIQTest.html)IQ test and see how you rate.

Furthermore, you have to take into account that Int scores among PC apprentice wizards do not neccessarily correlate with the Int scores among NPC apprentice wizards. The majority of PC apprentice wizard may very well have 18 Int/180 IQs, especially if the DM is using a roll-then-place method of attribute generation or a high-point point buy system. That doesn't mean that NPC apprentice wizards (which will remain, presumably, the vast majority even when taking into account only the best applicants) will also have 18 Int.

Those are good points about IQ (I was mainly thinking that logic, maths and general knowledge were covered by Int which is why I suggested using it). I meant that that 1 Int above 10 equates to 5 IQ points, and I thought that it would apply to negative Int modifyers in the same way, which is a problem due to the minimum IQ under this system being 65 = Int 3 due to the sentinance rules (sorry about being confusing). I'd never heard the story about the US army, but I know there have been similar problems with other situations (sadly, the Southern IQ test you posted a link to won't come up).

Smeg, and I really had to look hard to find a good example, too. :smallfrown:

Maybe this one will work better: http://www.psychbytes.com/Quizzes/BITCH/Black%20Intelligence%20Test%20of%20Cultural%20Homo geneity.htm

Thanks, it worked. I got 4/15 (the language barrier was a huge problem). I suppose another problem with knowledge being included in IQ as far as D&D is concerned is that different classes have different skills (eg: Roy is the most intelligent OotS member after Vaarseuveus, but he isn't likely to have any knowledge ranks due to being a Fighter).
