How does one edit the title of a thread (I've seen it before, so I know it can be done)?

Double-click just to the right of its name off the main screen. I think that still works.

You can also just edit the first post of the thread and change the title there.
Note, however, that after a certain amount of time (30 days?) a thread's title cannot be changed by anybody other than a mod. This is a limitation of the software, not something the mod squad thought would be a fun idea. ;)

You have 28 days to edit your title. After that, just as you've suggested, you would have to ask a mod for further title changes.

Yes, it's very lunar of us. :smallwink:
And I believe this falls more into "limitation of board software" rather than the "arbitrary rule" side of things. (Just in case you were wondering.)
