Some of us have special mixes for special drinks, whether they be alcoholic or non-. We were just exchanging mocha recipes in Random Banter, so I though I'd make a thread to share all your drink ideas.

My Mocha

3 parts cocoa powder
2 parts instant coffee (note that this is the only thing instant coffee is good for)
1 part white sugar
1 part mocha mix of some description
1 part cappuccino mix, if you so desire.

("Parts" are relative. I sort of eyeball it. The syrup shouldn't be a lot. Equal to the amount of chocolate syrup you'd use for chocolate milk)

Add enough cold milk to soak up all the powders, then mix in the bottom of the mug to form a relatively viscous syrup. Then fill the rest with hot milk and stir. No whipped cream.

(Alternative: substitute the cold milk in the beginning for some Bailey's Irish Cream if you want this mocha Irish'd)

Also, this vegetarian cookbook I was given for Christmas has some fun drink recipes. I want to try this one for "Southern-style Russian Tea":

Freshly made black tea
Cinnamon sticks
A little bit of cloves
Apple cider/juice (I'd go with something unsweetened, personally)
Pineapple juice
A bit of orange Juice
A little bit of lemon Juice
And some sugar

Now, the recipe I have makes 4 litres (4 quarts almost exactly). But the idea is that the apple and pineapple juices together equal the amount of tea. Mix the tea and those juices together in a pot, maybe adding some orange and lemon peel for flavour as well as the cloves and cinnamon. Then add the orange juice and lemon juice (which together shouldn't be more than maybe 1/8 of what you already have), and the sugar. Bring to a boil and then let simmer on low heat for a little bit.

Maybe that's a bit complicated. Tea, pineapple and apple juices, cinnamon, orange and lemon juices. Sugar. Heat, then drink. :smalltongue:

Okay, now yours.

Three Scoops French Vanilla Ice Cream
Two Shots Triple Sac
One Regular sized bag of Classic Skittles
One or Two Shots Baileys Irish Creme.
...Spin in the blender..... Yep that's right you're putting candy in the blender
If too think add milk...If too thin add white chocolate powder mix or vanilla mix(it helps if you know people who work in Cafe's for this)

Ends up as an Orange/Vanilla Milkshake with a kick.

For a hot summer day - A Peppar Cooler

Two Shots Pepper Vodka (Absolute Peppar for example but there are others)
One Light Beer (no not the Diet forms of regular beers-Pale Ales, Light Pilsers, Light Lagers)
Juice of One Lime-Two Limes if they are small or dry

And now, my patented (well, I say patented, it's not. That was a lie. I'm so sorry) drink for making you feel better when you're ill.

Warm up some orange juice. Add honey. It's really nice.

Otherwise known as a hot toddy. The recipe I've seen uses tea as a base. Good stuff.

Blasphemy! There is no such thing as too much Ice Cream!

Actually, wanna know my desperate-for-sugar 10 year old recipes?

Recipe 1: Milkshake
I took a scoop or two or Ice Cream, put it in a plastic cup, added milk..... and stirred it. With a spoon. By hand. For like 15 minutes...........

Tasty!

Recipe 2: Chocolate Milk
Fill a glass with Milk.
Add a teaspoon or two of Baking Cocoa.
Add sugar. A LOT.
Stir. Hopefully the cocoa will dissolve. If you're lucky and stir enough that is......

I really did this stuff. I was just so desperate for sugar. :smalleek: And they didn't want to give me anything cuz I was hyperactive............ :smallfrown:

Party Buster Punch!

5 Gallon Water Jugs (Use or empty the water out 1st :smalltongue: )
1 Bottle Ever-Clear
2 x Bottle Rum
2 x Bottle Vodka
2 x sprigs of mint ((Optional) It'll dress it up. Like putting a wig on a pig.)

Top up with Hawaiian fruit punch and shake & chill :smallamused: Make it at least 10 minutes before you drink it so it has time to settle like a fine wine. Heh heh…

Note: Save this until the party is going it's not a starter beverage...

Alternate uses:
1. Freeze it in ice cube trays and drop it into other sweet drinks as well
2. Mix it with Jello and turn it into shots instead of using water
3. Freeze it and Blend it into Daiquiris

That's why I recommend creating the syrup first. Just put the cocoa and sugar in the bottom, add a little bit of milk, mix together so that the syrup forms (much easier that stirring a full glass), and then it'll mix much better with the rest of the milk. Otherwise the cocoa really won't dissolve. Especially not in anything cold.

Incidentally...from Wikipedia. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_cocktail) That has to be one hell of a drink. I don't like rum, fortunately. Otherwise I'd be tempted to try that. :smalleek:

True, that. Maybe I should try it.

Of course, I didn't know stuff dissolves easier in warm liquids back then.

My friends and I have tried this, you need to adjust it slightly for it to be really anything worth drinking. Unless of course you use really good whiskey...

A good one for the Holidays is Apple Pie:
1 Gallon of Apple Juice
1 Gallon of Apple Cider
A Cup or two of sugar (not really needed)
1 Bottle of Everclear (190 proof) or other strong liquor at your preference
Bunch of Cinnamon sticks

Throw everything in a big ole pot save the liqour, heat til warm, let cool slightly then add in the bottle of liqour. Enjoy!

Right-Deathshot recipe

Need:
Jello Powder
Everclear
Metal Ice Cube tray
Baking pan
Skewers long enough to cross the pan
Liquid Nitrogen
Towel

Replace all water in directions of the jello packet with everclear-normally this won't set either in the fridge or at room temp so pour it into the ice cube tray. Put the skewers across the pan and hang the ice cube tray from said skewers-pour nitrogen into pan around the tray/trays. Wait till Nitrogen boils off and then a further ten/twenty minutes for the metal to warm up too. Serve extra strong Jello shots at your party-warn people beforehand as these will be MUCH stronger than regular shots-more than twice as strong and often three times as strong.

The towel is for putting under the tray to protect your table-and half of your kit for hitchhiking around the gallaxy.

Maple Butter-Rum

2 oz pure maple syrup
2 oz rum
2 oz boiling water
1 T butter

Combine first three ingredients. Stir. Add butter. Serve. It's good, but very rich. Good for those cold winter nights, or in a ski lodge after a day on the slopes.

Highball glass
1 oz vodka
1 oz triple sec
Fill with regular Coca-Cola

(No particular brand loyalty to regular Coke, but it's been attempted with diet and caffeine free coke, Pepsi, and generic cola; the results were bad).

Alright let me try translating it

1 Get a large bowl
2 Fill half of the bowl with vanilla vla (it's a type of custard, wiki vla if your not sure)
3 Add one third yoghurt
4 Add strawberry syrup (no water added)
5 Drink some of the strawberry lemonade if it's too full to stir without spilling.
6 Stir until it's mixed well (you can see the vla (custard) at the top if you have)
7 Get two lumps of sugar and a chopping board
8 Crumble said lumbs of sugar on the chopping board
9 Add the crumbled sugar to the bowl
10 Stir the mixture
11 Voila, a very sweet vanilla vla drink

Grrr now I'm itching to try it, Vervloekt gij dallas-dakota! :smallamused:

Put in blender with a good amount of ice. Blend. Drink.

The Jasphattan
2 oz. bourbon or rye

bitters to taste

Shake with a glassful of crushed ice, garnish with cherry on a cocktail sword. Find floor before drinking.

Enjoy.

Good luck, reorith :smallwink:

I just got an email from my dad. His girlfriend got her chai recipe for me. 'Tis as follows, verbatim:

Chai for 25 people - Adjust amounts below to taste for less people or cook it all up and keep in the fridge and reheat. You can also use less water and milk for the cooking and then water it all down with a 2 water to 1 milk mix later on.

It's good to drink cold in summer as well.

To 3 litres of water

Add:
Chopped fresh ginger (say 1/4 inch - 1/2 teasp. per person or to taste)
5 x cardamon pods crushed (just bang them up a bit with a mallet - no need to crush completely)
4-5 cinnamon sticks crushed up a bit.
1 Tablespoon of cloves
1/4-1/2 teasp nutmeg
1 teaspoon crushed peppercorns
1/2 - 1 tablespoon garam masala

Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and add 3/4 cup of tea. Brew for 6 minutes.

Strain.

Add 2 litres of hot milk
Add 1 cup of sugar (or a tin of condensed milk)

Bless the chai to your God or Guru (who/whatever you pray to)...

Serve.

Makes 5 litres.

I do intend to try this at some point. And I keep forgetting about the pepper...

Also, I make a mean milkshake. At its best, it involves adding

Chocolate/chocolate & vanilla ice cream (lots)
A couple of big spoonfulls of Milo
Some Cadbury chocolate flake thingywhatist (actually, a Flake would probably work quite well, too)
Milk (however much still fits)

to a milkshake maker thing, and mixing. Goode stuff, excellent in summer.

In that same milkshake maker we used to make peach smoothies or something with vanilla icecream, milk and peach segments taken from our tree and frozen (I miss that tree so much :smallfrown:).

well, here (http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,milkshakes,FF.html) are some recipes for milkshakes, or a "shake." Some people like Malts better, and the only thing they have different in them is some malted milk powder.

However, with you mentioning soda, I feel you may be talking about ice cream soda/floats (http://www.cooks.com/rec/search?q=ice+cream+soda), which are a combination of either carbonated water, syrup, and ice cream, or a soda (coke, root beer, etc.) and some ice cream (normally vanilla, but I like to shake it up some with fruit flavors).

Great stuff! Thanks Jack! I will try that soon. Those are great summer drinks, served cold and all.

I do have to say that the prospect of drinking something called a "float" is a bit off-putting. :p
