:smallsigh: i was watching tv and i got the idea... how about a mime as a base class???
it would have a large arsonal of force-related spells and the ability to cast them without makeing a sound, and a ninja like move silently ability

but on the down side it cant talk or take ony other class without it loseing its abilities???

so anyone up to the chalange:smallamused:

Just play a character with ranks in Perform (Mime) (watch you don't end up in a pit full of scorpions). Not every activity in the world needs a base class devoted to it. If you do feel the need to make something of it, this falls within the realms of what prestige classes are for.

first off what abilities would a mime have that would make it particularly advantageous for adventuring/fun class?
1. convince others of a crafted reality (theatrics)
2. creating false temporary invisible objects
3. force (walls/lassos/wind storms)

how would these things scale as the mime got more powerful? how could these be balanced?

hey actually this could be pretty neat.

behold! the mime!

the mime’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are balance (dex), bluff (cha), disguise (cha), escape artist (dex), hide (dex), jump (str), listen (wis), move silently (dex), perform (cha), sleight of hand (dex), spot (wis), tumble (dex).
skill points at each level: 4 + int modifier.

class features

all of the following are features of the mime prestige class.

weapon and armor proficiency
mimes are proficient with the club, crossbow (hand, light, or heavy), dagger (any type), dart, mace, quarterstaff, rapier, shortbow (normal and composite),
and short sword. mimes are proficient with light armor but not with shields.

fascinate (sp)

a mime with 3 or more ranks in a perform(mimery) skill can use her antics to cause one or more creatures to become fascinated with him. each creature to be fascinated must be within 90 feet, able to see and hear the mime, and able to pay attention to him. the mime must also be able to see the creature. the
distraction of a nearby combat or other dangers prevents the ability from working. for every three levels a mime attains beyond 1st, he can target one
additional creature with a single use of this ability. to use the ability, a mime makes a perform check. his check result is the dc for each affected creature’s will save against the effect. if a creature’s saving throw succeeds, the mime cannot attempt to fascinate that creature again for 24 hours. if its saving throw fails, the creature sits quietly and watches the mimery, taking no other actions, for as long as the mime continues to act and concentrate (up to a maximum of 1 round per mime level). while fascinated, a target takes a -4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as listen and spot checks. any potential threat requires the mime to make another perform check and allows the creature a new saving throw against a dc equal to the new perform check result.

any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a ranged weapon at the target, automatically breaks the effect. fascinate is an enchantment (compulsion), mind-affecting ability.

bard levels and mime levels stack for determining the maximun number of creatures fascinated.

intangibility defined (su)
a mime can use the power of performance to create props and tools for mimery. a mime cannot replicate magic items, living creatures or any spell component. weapons created in this manner are crudely crafted and break after use. an item created in this way ceases to exist after the mime loses contact with it, the mime dismisses it, or a number rounds equal to 1/2 the mimes level. a mime can use this ability three times per day. the size of the item created is governed by the mime table above. defining the intangible is a standard action.

vow of silence (ex)
while using the fascinate, invisible wall, or intangibility defined class features, a mime cannot talk. talking at any point during the use of the class
features dismisses them and they cannot be used until the next day. outside of a performance, a mime can talk normally.

invisible wall (su)
a mime can create sheets of imagined force that impede movement and sound and junk. an invisible wall isn't truly invisible. it can be seen by a spot with a
dc of 20 + 1/2 the mimes level + the mimes cha mod. an invisible wall has a hardness equal to the mime's levels and hit points equal to twice that. an
invisible wall extends up ten feet or until it comes in contact with a surface above it (a ceiling, a low hanging branch etc.) an invisible wall lasts for a
number or rounds equal to the mime's level plus cha mod. this ability is usable once per day.

deafening silence (su)
as a mime works, an eerie aura of silence extends outward from her for thirty feet. everyone in this field must succeed on a fortitude save (dc 10 + mime
level + cha mod) or fall under the effect of a silence spell until

maimed reality (ex)
a mime's work twists and warps reality in such a way that by sixth level, she becomes immune to mind affecting enchantments and fear effects. you cannot
frighten a mime.

paragon mime
at tenth level, a mime's mimeskills become so heightened, refined and perfected a mime loses her grounding in reality. her mind becomes a chaotic and absurd place while her type changes to abberation.

Be a bard. Get your DM to allow you to use perform(mime) as your outlet for magic.

Mime is a prestige class, I believe...

The problem with playing a bard whose perform skill is miming is that all abilities are tied into a Vocal component. There's enough in the books to play a bard as a mime, but the feat chains involved are terrible.

yeah im prety shure that the hole point of a bard is that they use music andthere words to create magical efects, it would be like saying that a barbarion couldn't use wepons.

good idea though
