Yes, you guys are probably getting pretty tired of comics, but being that I love drawing in the OotS art style, I figured I'd try my hand at it and give you something at least a little original. :smalltongue: So I came up with this:

NOTE: This thread is outdated. If you're looking for the new thread, look no further (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75583).

http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/5320/titlebannerfb3.png

What happens when the monsters you're supposed to be fighting band together and start hunting you down looking for vengeance? Well, I don't know, but a young Rogue named Lana is about to find out from a perspective she never thought she'd see in her life... or death.

Updates Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

No, I refuse to accept that there could possibly be a comic series in these forums that I will actually bother to track regularly.

But you came dangerously close to being the first, and that's a monumental achievement in itself.

Nice job, Zarah! Honestly? I think this has become my favorite OOTS style fan comic. Failing Saves is close, but there's just something about Anti-Heroes that just makes it...awesome. :smallcool:

So...just hope you have enough ideas to fuel you for a good long while.

I also recommend getting a banner in your signature, so that you can direct people to this thread. I think a lot of people are ignoring all the new webcomics that are starting up, but this is definitely worth looking at.

Do you really feel the need to shun Failing Saves in order to compliment another webcomic? This whole Webcomic trend started off as a bit of fun, but somewhere along the line you guys managed to turn it into a competition. I sigh in your general direction! :smallsigh:

Anyway, rant over. Yes. Nice webcomic. Keep it up.

By <Insert Diety/ies of your choice here>, you're right! This obviously means that anti-HEROS takes place AFTER the evens in Order of the Stick. Maybe we should ask our current crop of PCs to tell us what gender V is?

As an aside, waay back in the first comic, note how similar the elven fighter/party leader looks to Roy, and the bald archery guy kinda reminds me of Haley...

We already KNOW what gender V is, there are 2 v's, one male and one female, they are otherwise identical and switch out between panels using elven ninja skillz and magic.

Aww, don't worry Salmon. Your comic would definitely be first if the comics were linked to instead of spoilered...for some reason it just takes forever for me to load the first page. :P The two comics are probably about even, anyway. Seeing as they're the only two comics I feel the need to check regularly.

And besides. I'm not shunning Failing Saves. Isn't it taking a little break for updating? And even when I am reading, I don't comment on it. But it is really good!

Don't worry Salmon, Failing Saves is still a great piece of work. It's probably the chief piece of inspiration that I used for my own comic (next to OotS, obviously). I'm not trying to compete with you for greatness or anything. I'm just having fun. :smalltongue:

First things first, that's not Miko. :smalltongue: I like to think this takes place in a different world than OotS, although I haven't really made up my mind for that yet, so we'll see. She just looks similar because I borrowed her hair from my attempt at drawing a Miko-like character, so there you go.

Secondly, the "good guys" do kinda look similar to the OotS characters, but that's because they were my earlier drawings, when I was still basing them directly off the characters. Now I'm trying to be a bit more original with my creations.

Anyway, I took some advice from you guys and made some signature banners. I had a few ideas, so I decided to just make them all!

Im liking this comic very much, its definitly going on my list of "comics I always check for updates first thing in the morning".

Although I have to say, the thing I enjoy most about this comic is the soft colours, The for lack of a better word, the brown-ness, the un-colourfulness, you do have reds and yellows and greens but they aren't bright, they are all soft and less colourful which I think makes this a very nice effect and improves the overall look of the comic  .

Alright, so I have a small confession to make. The last thing I wanted to do with this comic was let people down if I was too busy to make an issue. So, I always made sure I was one or two comics ahead of the current release, just so that I'd have a buffer to keep you guys satisfied while I was swamped elsewhere. I uploaded them as well, so that it'd be easy for me to quickly update the thread, and I wondered if anyone would realize that they could read ahead if they just changed the numbers in the issues. :smalltongue:

Turns out, someone did. In fact, I'll assume a few of you probably figured it out. So I decided to let you have the precognition up until issue 10. And since I want to keep everyone on the same page from now on, here are all the uploaded pages that I have right now. Yes, I'm giving you a whopping three pages here, so I hope you enjoy them.

Issue 10: Answers At Last!
http://zara.switzerlan.org/images/antiheroes/Issue10.png

Oh and don't worry, I'll still be making comics ahead of their release. I like having that buffer. The only difference is, I won't be uploading them anymore, so you'll just have to wait for the release if you like to read ahead. :smallwink:

Oh yes, you're good Zarah. I like it more than Salmon's. *dodges behind wall* In less than a week, you've already surpassed the comic count of my own. This is a sweet comic that brings out the bad guy in everyone of us. With art closer to the giant's than said fish's, the punchline is at a caliber that rival's even Rich's. By no means a replacement, "Anti-Heroes" is still a terrific compliment to the stick-figure comic that we all know and love.

Hey, do you need a critic?

Wow, I must say!

I have looked some of these "fan-made comics" and found them rather boring, but this totally has potential! It is actually fun and even original. That hooded guy felt first little too much of a Xykon, but seems to have its own personality after all which is good.

I like how Lana's arms goes up through her hair.

It's the little details that make things better.

Besides, I'm a lazy artist, and I couldn't think of a better way to have her arms in the air. I tried having her move the hair out of the way, but that looked weird, so I went with this. :smalltongue:

That hooded guy felt first little too much of a Xykon, but seems to have its own personality after all which is good.

Actually, I agree with you there. I realized after a while that he did seem really similar to our resident Lich, so I'm trying to distance him from Xykon as much as possible without losing the whole evil thing. It's not easy since Xykon forms a pretty good basis for being downright evil, but I have some things planned for Cloak-Guy that should without doubt turn him into his own character.

Let's just say that there's far more than meets the eye with him. :smallwink: But then, you probably already knew that. :smalltongue:

Rogue/mages are actually pretty effective. Both classes have to wear minimal armour for various reasons, so it's not like you have to take off craploads of armour and then put it back on all the time like you would as a Fighter/Mage.

Nice comic, I'll be reading this. Oh, and does Sneak Attack apply to spells? Because she WAS a rogue after all, and a basic Magic Missile 1-shot-killing something just doesn't sound right...

A lvl 1 plain goblin has 5 hps. A magic missle can do 5 hps damage. The headshot is a way of depicting the best possible magic missile. Had she rolled a 1 for damage, then perhaps the magic missile would have been drawn as hitting the left hand, for example.

Also, magic missile is an extremely poor choice of spell for her, since it does not allow for sneak attack.

Having all that sneak attack damage, and good dex, she needs to go after ranged touch attack spells. (acid splash, ray of frost, etc, and use her lvl 1 spells for say sleep or grease or ray of enfeeb, etc)

Ghostbusters? I'm too not old to have watched that.

This, above all else, frightens me. For Ghostbusters are timeless.

Around Halloween many cartoon channels throw in a few episodes of the cartoon, The Real Ghostbusters. The movies are also quite good, and timeless. They're classics, boy. Like John Wayne or The Hobbit.

He was blonde in the cartoon, I believe, but if you ask me, that's not blonde hair. (http://www.ghostbustershq.com/media/storybook/Egon-book.jpg)

Also, that picture is remarkably creepy the longer you stare at it...

I'd call it tan. Both the cartoons (The Real Ghostbusters and the ill-fated Extreme Ghostbusters) had a distinctly blonde Egon, though. I only know that the Egon in my nostalgic heart is blonde. And also Slimer is awesome.
