Has anyone ever made a list of some "everyday" or non-combat D&D spells? One thing that's always bugged me a bit about D&D tropes is how wizards seem designed for fighting in dungeons and not much else... has anyone ever thought of spells to do very powerful, but not fighting/dungeoneering-related feats?

Ressurection and its ilk?

Wish?

Scrying and other high level divination effects?

Fabrication?

And this isn't a spell, but...creating magic items?

Ressurection and its ilk?
Not very helpful in situations that don't involve violence.

Wish?

Scrying and other high level divination effects?
Fair enough...

Fabrication?

And this isn't a spell, but...creating magic items?
Both of these are somewhat limited, in my view, by the fact that D&D rules mainly cover combat/adventuring-related items.

Yeah, there's a few spells, but verisimilitude-wise it's hard to explain why so much more of magical development seems to have occurred in the combat-related realms, instead of acting like in the real world, where combat technology drives the development of everyday technology.

Also, most of the spells you named are high-level. What kind of everyday benefits does a low-level wizard get? Is there any reason to be a low-level wizard if you're not going to adventure or fight?

Unseen Servant (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/unseenServant.htm) - For when you want to really get that glass of lemonade, but don't wanna get up.

Mending (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/mending.htm) - For when something breaks unexpectedly.

Open/Close (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/openClose.htm) - Real wizards don't open doors.

Locate Object (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/locateObject.htm) - For finding your spell book in the morning.

Continual Flame (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/continualFlame.htm) - Cast it on the party rogue during downtime.

Spider Climb (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/spiderClimb.htm) - Doors? I prefer windows.

Nondetection (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/nondetection.htm) - Essential down-time protection.

Clairaudience/Clairvoyance (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/clairaudienceClairvoyance.htm) - Downtime spying is better than wasting time.

Tongues (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/tongues.htm) - When in Rome..

Major Image (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/majorImage.htm) - My wizards always prepared the heck out of this spell whenever we had downtime. Too much fun to mess with peasants.

Gentle Repose (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/gentleRepose.htm) - Sell your services as an undertaker. Use your Unseen Servant to make the coffins.

Secret Page (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/secretPage.htm) - My changeling wizard used this one alot as well during downtime. But then again, she also kept a diary.

All of these are available to a 6th level wizard, and are great to prepare during downtime.

I took some effort in making some fun little spells that lack combat utility...

Cantrips (Level 0)
Awake
Enchanting

Level: Cleric 1, Bard 0, Sorcerer/Wizard 0
Component: V, F, DF
Casting time: 1 minute
Target: Self
Duration: Instantaneous

The caster chooses a time to wake up, or a length of time to sleep when this spell is cast. The caster cannot change or dispel the time once the spell has been cast. When it is the designated time, or the length of time has elapsed, the caster wakes up and cannot return to sleep for at least 8 hours.

This spell does not affect the quality or length of actual time slept; if a caster only sleeps for 4 hours before he is awakened as per the spell, he is not considered "fully rested."

Arcane focus: A tail feather plucked from a rooster; or a piece of wire that is bent into a spiral that unwinds as the caster sleeps.

Barnaby's Invisible Barber
Conjuration [Summoning]

Level: Bard 1, Sorcerer/Wizard 0
Component: S, V, M
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: 25'
Target: 1 person
Effect: Cuts, dyes, and alters hair
Duration: 5 minutes
Save: Will (see text)

This spell summons forth an extra-dimensional being (possibly from the Plane of HAir) whose only appearance consists of a pair of gloved hands. The hands wield a pair of scissors and a comb, neither of which do any damage to the target. The Invisible Barber will cut, trim, style, or dye the target's hair to the caster's choice; as well, the Barber may shave with a straight razor with close and clean precision. The Invisible Barber cannot cause lost hair to grow back, but can provide a limited amount of noticeably fake hair. There is a 1% chance that this provided hair is actually a Tiny HAir Elemental.

The Invisible Barber will take 5 minutes to complete the styling. During this time, the target may attempt to make a Will save for every minute the spell is in effect; succeeding the save does not negate the spell, however. The Barber will only be stalled for one minute, and may result in an incomplete and shoddy-looking haircut.

Material component: A single hair, plucked from the target.

Dispose Waste
Transmutation

Level: Druid 0, Ranger 1
Component: V, M
Casting Time: 1 minute, special
Range: Short (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 caster level)
Effect: Destroys waste
Duration: Instantaneous

You place a square foot of linen over a mound of waste that cannot weigh any more than five pounds; if placed on a pile greater than five pounds, only the top five pounds are destroyed by this spell. A white fire burns the waste under the cloth. Once done, the linen turns black and smells terrible.

This spell can only be used against waste or refuse, which is considered to be used magical items that have no uses or charges left, broken equipment, rotting food, bones, or body fluids. This spell can be used against undead, but with limited effect. By making a touch attack to set the cloth, which can be done in conjunction of casting this spell, it causes 1d4 damage to the undead provided the caster can make a Concentration check (DC 15). This cannot be done against living creatures or undead that have a greater HD than the caster.

Material component: A square foot of linen cloth, which you do not want back (unless you're a weirdo).

Lesser Dictate
Transmutation

Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 0
Components: S, F
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Target: 1 person, 1 writing instrument, neither of which can be greater than 20' from caster
Effect: Enchants one writing instrument to record what target speaks
Duration: 30 min + 5 min/level (D)
Saving Throw: Will (negates)
Spell Resistance: Yes

When cast, this spell animates one pen, a piece of chalk, a paint brush, or any other writing instrument so that it will write down whatever the target says. If the writing instrument requires ink or paint, it will do so itself provided that the ink container is within range. Only one writing instrument can have Lesser Dictate cast on it at a time.

The writing instrument will continue to write and turn the page (if necessary); if the ink supply or writing space is used up, the spell fails. The spell will fail if the either the caster or the target moves greater than 20' from the pen. If there is a circumstance that would normally impose a Listen check, the spell will also fail. As well, if the target does not primarily speak a language understood by the caster, the spell will fail then also.

The writing instrument will write in a handwriting consistent of the caster. A Forgery check (DC 25) is necessary to notice the near mechanical uniformity of the writing. A Detect Magic spell will reveal a Transmutation aura about the document, but the text itself is not magical, and so cannot be dispelled once written.

A spell that requires writing or tracing, such as Arcane Mark or Exploding Runes, can be cast through Lesser Dictate, but cannot be made invisible if the spell would normally permit it.

Arcane focus: A writing instrument that has been used at least once by the caster.

Mordenkainen's Hourglass
Conjuration [Summoning]

Level: Bard 0, Sorcerer/Wizard 0
Component: S, V, M
Casting time: 1 round
Duration: 1 hour

You summon forth a finely crafted hourglass with an M embossed on it. When it's summoned, the bottom half is empty and the top half is filled with sand. At the moment of casting, the sand begins to pour into the bottom cavity and will finish in one hour after casting.

Attempting to flip or reset the hourglass as no affect. If attacked, the hourglass disappears and prematurely ends the spell. The item weighs 1 pound has a hardness of 1, and five hit points.

Material component: A handful of sand that is poured from the hand onto the surface where the hourglass is summoned.

Level 1 Spells
Amaranta's Outfit
Conjuration [Summoning]

Level: Assassin 1, Bard 1, Sorcerer/Wizard 1
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 20 minutes
Target: 1 outfit of clothing, +1 outfit per caster level
Duration: Instantaneous

The caster prepares an outfit to be worn and can summon that, changing into the clothes as a move-equivalent action. The outfit must be cleaned and folded and stored appropriately else the spell will fail. After preparing the outfit, the caster affixes a silver pin (costing at least 1gp) to an article of the clothing. The pin can be activated by a command word, chosen by the caster when the spell is prepared.

The caster can activate the pin at any time after it has been affixed. When activated, the caster's clothes changes to the prepared outfit. The changing process takes a move action, but does not provoke an attack of opportunity. The caster's old clothes end up in the same place where the prepared outfit was stored. If the pin is removed from a prepared set, the spell fails and needs to be recast in order to work.

An outfit is considered to be any set of clothing, jewelry, or accessories that fit the caster when the pin is first affixed. It can include rings, amulets, head-pieces, eye-pieces, robes, and such. It can also include leather armor, but if the caster attempts to attached a pin to any armor greater than leather armor, the pin is not enchanted, and the outfit is not conjured. In addition, one one-handed and one light weapon can be included as part of the outfit, provided that they are in a scabbard or sheath. Magical weapons with special properties (those beyond +1 attack bonus), wands, staves, &c. cannot be included as part of the outfit. A caster can only have as many outfits prepared by this spell equal to her caster level.

If the caster cannot wear the outfit for any reason, such as having been polymorphed into a non-humanoid creature, the outfit cannot be conjured. The caster can be anywhere to cast this spell, provided that both the prepared clothing and the caster on the same plane.

Cram
Transmutation

Level: Cleric 1, Sorcerer/Wizard 1
Component: S, V, M
Casting Time: 1 Minute
Target: Self
Effect: Memorizing of a number of pages equal to 2d4+1/2 caster level
Duration: 12 hours

You can memorize a number of pages equal to 2d4 plus one half your caster level. The pages cannot be from a magical scroll or any similarly enchanted writing source. You can remember the pages with vivid and accurate detail, being able to recall any fact or note or recite it from any point at will. The pages need not be consecutive.

Material component: A raw egg, the contents of which is consumed by the caster.

Fasten
Transmutation

Level: Assassin 1, Cleric 1, Ranger 1, Paladin 1, Warmage 1
Component: S, V, DF
Casting Time: 1 swift action
Target: Self
Effect: Reduces time to don armor
Saving throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell provides an assistance with donning armor by making it faster and easier. The time it takes to don the armor is cut in half as though there is an assistant; there is no penalty for donning this armor at this speed (normally, having an assistant does not cut time for armor to be worn effective).

Ilionid's Amazing Barrier
Abjuration

Level: Bard 1, Cleric 1, Druid 1, Sorcerer/Wizard 1
Components: S, V, M
Casting Time: 1 minute
Target: Self
Duration: 12 hours

While this spell is active, the caster cannot transmit nor receive something through a fluid or physical contact, such as coming into contact with a person suffering from a plague (whether it be magical or non-magical). The caster cannot become sick by any disease that can be breathed in, or requires direct contact (such as kissing, or sharing a container with someone who is sick). The caster cannot become pregnant (if female), nor impregnate (if male) another person if the caster engages in sexual intercourse. The caster also receives a +4 circumstantial bonus to Fortitude saves versus poison.

Material component: A square inch of sheepskin and a shot of whiskey, both of which the caster consumes upon casting the spell.

Lesser Carve
Transmutation

Level: Cleric 1, Sorcerer/Wizard 1
Component: S, V, M
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: Touch
Target: 5 sq. ft. of stone + 1 sq. ft./2 caster level
Effect: Sculpts stone
Duration: Instantaneous

By touching a block of clay, mason, rock, or marble, a rough gem, or any other non-living, non-animated material that can be worked, the caster can sculpt it into a shape as she desires. For example, the caster can touch a block of stone and make a bust of herself.

The style of the sculpture is similar to that of the caster, however the quality is not readily so. The caster can make a Craft (Art) check to determine the quality of sculpture. A check of at least 15 produces mediocre work, a check of 20 produces medium-quality work, while a masterpiece requires a check of at least 30. A failed check does not cause the spell to fail, just that the quality of the sculpting is poor and worthless.

This spell only effects non-living material, it does not effect animated material, i.e. casting Lesser Carve against a golem will fail.

Material component: A chisel, which breaks when the spell is cast.

Lesser Picture
Transmutation

Level: Bard 1, Cleric 1, Sorcerer/Wizard 1
Components: V, S, M, F
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: Touch
Effect: 1 visual artifact over a 1 sq ft. + 1 sq ft./2 caster level.
Duration: Instantaneous

Lesser Picture inscribes, draws, paints, or otherwise records in a visual medium a single moment onto an appropriate surface where an image maybe rendered, such as paper, canvas, or stone. The spell inscribes a single moment as seen from the caster's point of view. This moment may be something the character has witnessed or is witnessing, but cannot be something the caster has not directly witnessed even with the assistance of divination spells. Obviously, elements such as invisible creatures are not rendered.

If the caster attempts to render a moment from the past or a story, he must make an appropriate check: A knowledge check (DC 15) appropriate to the story, or if a memory, a Concentration check, using Wisdom as the modifying stat. For memories, the DC of the check is base 10, and increases by 1 for every month in the past. If the experience is vivid, the DC is reduced by 5. Failure of the Wisdom + Concentration check does not cause the spell to fail, but the elements rendered by the spell will vary from the actual events. If the caster possesses the feat Eidict Memory, he receives a +20 to this check. The picture rendered by this spell will never yield 100% to the moment witnessed, even if it is current. Multiple castings of this spell regarding the same moment will always yield a different and unique picture.

The quality of the art is dependent on the caster's own artistic ability, and the rendering is obviously of the caster's style. To create a fine work of art with this spell, the caster may attempt a Craft (Art) check; the DC is dependent on the quality: Mediocre work mediocre is a DC 15, good quality is DC 20, and a masterpiece requires a DC 30. The Craft check has no bearing on the factual content of the work, it only affects the quality. A failed Craft check does not fail the spell, but the work of art is of poor quality.

Spell focus: A drawing instrument that has been used at least once by the caster. The material component is dependent on the surface:
Relief: A pinch of stone-dust (stone-relief), a pinch of burnt wood (wood-relief).
Drawing: Three droplets of ink or a pinch of ash.
Paint: A droplet per primary color used in the painting.

Level 2 Spells
Greater Dictate
Transmutation

Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 2
Components: S, F
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Target: 1 person, 1 writing instrument, neither of which can be greater than 20' from caster
Effect: Enchants one writing instrument to record what target speaks
Duration: 30 min + 10 min/level (D)
Saving Throw: Will (Negates)
Spell Resistance: Yes

Same as Lesser Dictate. The limitation on hearing the speaker are no longer required. As well, the spell allows the caster to slur the handwriting. A Concentration check (DC 20) adds twice the caster's level to the Forgery check to determine the uniformity and artificialness of the writing. An additional Forgery check (DC 20) is required to mimic another's person's handwriting.

Spell focus: A writing instrument that has been used at least once by the caster

Minor Inkwell
Transmutation

Level: Cleric 2, Sorcerer/Wizard 2
Components: S, V, F, M
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Target: One writing instrument
Duration: Instantaneous

This spell grants a writing instrument an unlimited amount of ink. This ink is of a single color that the caster chooses at casting. The writing instrument is not enchanted any further, and can be broke or destroyed as any writing instrument of its type. If the writing instrument is broke, the spell fails. The item is effected by Mordenkai's Disjunction and any Dispel effect.

The ink produced by this pen is considered to be mundane; it cannot be used to scribe scrolls or any other magic texts; it may, however, be used in conjunction with any Dictate spell provided that the pen has been used by the caster at least once.

Spell focus: A fine writing instrument costing at least 5 gp. The material component is a vial of ink or paint appropriate to the writing instrument, the color of which determines the color of the ink of the pen.

Level 3 Spell
Greater Carve
Transmutation

Level: Cleric 3, Sorcerer/Wizard 3
Component: S, V, M
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: Touch
Target: 5 sq. ft. of stone + 1 sq. ft./2 caster level
Effect: Sculpts stone
Duration: Instantaneous
Save: Fortitude special

Same as Lesser Carve. The caster may add her Caster Level to the Craft (Art) check. Masterwork sculptures created with this spell may be used in creating a magical item or golem. If this spell is cast against a construct made of stone, it must make Fortitude save or take 1d4/caster level (maximum 10d4) damage. If it fails the save, it takes no damage. Whether it fails or passes the fortitude save, the stone will be carved in whatever the caster desires; the sculpting does cause superficial damage, but cannot impair or impede the golem in any manner.

Material component: An ornate chisel worth at least 300 gp, which breaks when the spell is cast.

Greater Picture
Transmutation/Divination

Level: Bard 3, Cleric 3, Sorcerer/Wizard 3
Components: S, F
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: Touch
Target: 1 person
Effect: 1 visual artifact over 1 sq ft. + 1 sq ft./2 caster level.
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will (Negates)
Spell Resistance: Yes

Same as Lesser Picture, however the moment that is being captured does not need to be witnessed by the caster. The picture so rendered by this spell is from the point of view of the target. If the moment being captured is in the past, the target must make a Concentration (Wis) check as per Lesser Picture.

The caster may add her Caster Level to the Craft (Art) check.

Focus: A drawing instrument that has been used at least once by the caster appropriate for the medium. The material component is dependent on the surface:
Relief: A pinch of marble (stone-relief), a piece of bark from a tree at least 500 years old (wood-relief).
Drawing: Three droplets of fine ink, the ink itself costing at least 25 gp.
Paint: A pinch of pigment per primary color used in the painting, the pigment itself costing at least 25 gp.

Level 4 Spells
Mass Dictate
Transmutation

Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 4
Component: S, F
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Target: Up to 1/2 caster level (max 10) people, 1 writing instrument, none of which can be greater than 20' from caster
Effect: Enchants one writing device to record whatever the targets speak
Duration: 30 min + 5 min/level
Saving Throw: Will (Negates)
Spell resistance: Yes

As per Lesser Dictate, however multiple individuals are recorded talking. The targets must speak primarily language understood by the caster, but the caster does not necessarily have to hear the targets. If the targets talk over each other, the writing instrument will record the loudest.

Arcane focus: A writing instrument that has been used at least once by the caster.

Stream of Conscious
Transmutation/Divination

Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 4
Components: S, F
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Target: 1 person, 1 writing instrument, neither of which can be greater than 20' from caster
Effect: Enchants one writing instrument to record what target thinks
Duration: 15 min + 10 min/level (D)
Saving Throw: Will (Negates)
Spell Resistance: Yes

Same as Lesser Dictate, however the writing instrument will write down the thoughts of the target. If the target realizes that her thoughts are being recorded by such a spell, she can attempt as a move-equivalent action a Concentration check (DC 20) to void her thoughts; if she succeeds, the spell ends immediately.

Spell focus: A writing instrument that has been used at least once by the caster.

Level 5 Spells
Major Inkwell
Transmutation

Level: Cleric 5, Sorcerer/Wizard 5
Components: S, V, F, M
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Target: One writing instrument
Duration: Instantaneous

As per Minor Inkwell, however the pen's color can change as per the caster's wishes. The pen can be used to scribe magical texts, such as spell books or scrolls.

Spell focus: A fine writing instrument costing at least 500 gp. The material component is a vial of ink or paint appropriate to the writing instrument, the ink of which can cost no less 5000 gp.

I think maybe the focus should be an instrument used by the target--for all the Dictate spells, especially this one. But that's just me.

Neek, that's exactly what I was looking for - I'll need to save and archive this!

They're already on my wiki (http://wiki.penguindeskjob.com/List_of_spells) if you need a quick reference.

I think maybe the focus should be an instrument used by the target--for all the Dictate spells, especially this one. But that's just me.

The spells were built from the ground-up using a simple premise: I want to write, but I don't want to lift my hand. The flavor of the spells, and the foci involved, are intended to show that this is you, the caster, writing... without actually writing it yourself. Without making effort, the handwriting will be yours... you're just animating the pen to do it for you. So it must be your pen.

As for Stream of Consciousness, I agree with you there.

Neek, some of those spell entries are incomplete. For example, both Lesser and Greater dictate make mention of the pen re-inking itself if a source of ink is "within range," but the range of the spell is never given.

Ilionid is Ancient Greek for Trojan, btw ;). I figure if I'm going to make fun spells, I'll make spells that aren't one-trick ponies. And no, I didn't know of a town called Condom. Intriguing...

Neek, some of those spell entries are incomplete. For example, both Lesser and Greater dictate make mention of the pen re-inking itself if a source of ink is "within range," but the range of the spell is never given.

You're right, range is not specifically; but they're not incomplete. The target lists the range: "Target: 1 person, 1 writing instrument, neither of which can be greater than 20' from caster." I didn't list it as a separate entry because it would be superfluous and misleading. I hope that clarifies.

I didn't list it as a separate entry because it would be superfluous and misleading. I hope that clarifies.

I'd say that what's more misleading is deviating from the standard format for presenting 3.5 spells the way you did. If your spell had been presented like this:

Lesser Dictate
Transmutation
Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 0
Components: S, F
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: 20 feet
Target: 1 person and 1 writing instrument
Effect: Animates one writing instrument to record what target speaks
Duration: 30 min + 5 min/level (D)
Saving Throw: Will (negates, harmless)

Arcane focus: A writing instrument that has been used at least once by the caster.

... then I would not have been confused and had to ask for clarification.

These spells are awesome! But the dictate spells remove the need for a stenographer or a scribe, and the BBEG's court finds yet another of its assassins without a believable cover identity.

One thing, the fourth level spell should probably be named 'Stream of Consciousness'

Has everyone forgotten Prestidigitation (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/prestidigitation.htm)? It's pretty much the most powerful "everyday" spell out there ... it cooks, it cleans, it flavors, it can slowly lift, and even create crude, basic items.

Here're a few of these I've made for Sigil Prep...

Booze Muse
Enchantment
Level: Brd 1
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 1 min./level (D)

Odds are, if you’re a Bard, and you go to Sigil Prep, you’re probably drunk. Why not take advantage of this? After casting this spell, you gain a +10 morale bonus on all Perform checks. The enhancement bonus increases to +20 at caster level 5th, and to +30 (the maximum) at caster level 9th.

Cram Session
Conjuration and Divination (Creation)
Level: Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 0 ft.
Effect: Summoned notes.
Duration: Instantaneous

Who needs to study, when you can just whip up a magical cram session? When you cast this spell, you must choose a specific topic (for example, not dragons, or even red dragons–but “that dragon over there” would be a valid topic). The cram session spell summons notes relating to that topic. By looking over them, you gain a +10 competence bonus on any Knowledge checks made about that specific topic. In addition, you can make untrained Knowledge checks about that topic, although the bonus to the check is halved if you do so. The bonus increases to +20 at 5th level, and to +30 at 9th level. Note that using the cram session spell during a test is cheating, and most professors are rather quick to “dispose of” anyone they catch using it.

Material Component
A mug of ale, consumed during the casting of the spell

Dimension Strip
Conjuration (Teleportation)
Level: Brd 2, Party 2, Sor/Wiz 2, Wu Jen 2
Components: V
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: One creature

Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

Of all the teleportation spells in the multiverse, dimension strip is the single most used one on Sigil Prep’s campus. If the target fails its save, then all of its clothing, armor, and items are teleported 10 ft. away from them in a randomly chosen direction, leaving them rather naked. It’s always advisable to cast protection from women before using this spell.

Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: 0 ft.
Effect: Created coins

Sometimes, making ends meet is hard when you’re a student. This spell will help you scrape by. Upon the completion of this spell, three copper pieces appear in your hand. They are completely normal, except for a aura of faint conjuration. The merest mention of this spell has been known to drive Economics majors into a blind rage; please don’t taunt them.

Gaydar
Divination
Level: Brd 0, Clr 0, Drd 0, Shu 0 (Air), Sor/Wiz 0, Wu Jen 0
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 60 ft.
Area: Cone-shaped emanation
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

Few realize how useful this spell is to a successful love life at Sigil Prep. By studying creatures within the area of the gaydar spell, you can determine details about the creature’s sexual orientation and tendencies. The amount of detail revealed depends on how long you study each creature:

1st round
Determine the sexual orientation of each creature within the area of this spell as either asexual, bisexual, heterosexual, homosexual, or pansexual. Note that this spell reveals what the subject believes his orientation to be, rather than the actual orientation–for example, a gay man who has not yet come to terms with his homosexuality would register as being straight.

2nd round
General nature of each creature’s sexual kinks and fetishes.

3rd round
Specifics of each creature’s sexual kinks and fetishes.

Light My Fire
Evocation (Fire)
Level: Bard 0, Shu 0 (Fire), Sorcerer/Wizard 0, Wu Jen 0 (Fire)
Components: S
Casting Time: 1 swift action
Range: Touch
Target: Cigar, pipe, or similar item touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

With just a snap of your fingers, you can set yourself on the way to lung-cancer inducing goodness. This spell immediately lights a single cigar, pipe, or similar smokeable item. The heat it produces is not enough to deal any damage.

Togafy
Transmutation
Level: Brd 1, Party 1, Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: 30 ft.
Area: 30 ft.-radius burst, centered on you
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates (object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (object)

Essential to any good party, the togafy spell transmutes all clothing within its area into togas, good for any frat party. The quality of the clothing determines the quality of the toga it is turned into–a set of ratty street clothes might be turned into a soiled bedsheet, whereas a fancy evening gown would be turned into an elegant, hand-woven toga. Magical clothing transformed into a toga retains all of its magical properties.

Focus
A toga, worn by you.
