COD 4: Modern Warfare: How do you make classes?

The threads title says it all. How do you make classes in COD 4? Do you need Xbox Live Gold? I mean, my 360 doesn't even have internet connection. Anyway, that's my question.

You can only make classes in the online multiplayer part of the game and only after getting to experience level 4 (which is Lance Corporal, I think). So yes, you need an Xbox Live Gold membership and an internet connection.
