Just wanted to share a bad experience with domain name registration I had today, as it might help one or the other...
On Jan 8 I looked up the availability of a domain name at Network Solutions, confirmed that it was available, then tried to register it with my preferred registrar.
Guess what, the domain had already been registered - seconds ago. By whom? Network Solutions.
I couldn't believe they were actually front running domains checked with their availability / whois GUI, until a Google search confirmed it. Here is the jaw-dropping story:

So next time you look up a domain with the intention of registering it, be careful how you do it...
