Yet another quiz thread.
http://www.justsayhi.com/bb/geek
I'm 81% geek. That's pretty much what I figured. I still have Limited Edition Alpha Magic cards, and I make grue jokes whenever I am in a dark place.

I'm only 44% Geek according to that thing. :smallconfused:

Doesn't seem to care that I'm into quantum physics, I can name more than 100 elements off of the periodic table, I can tell you what phi, pi, and e are, I'm a member of an academic team, I am a certified IT technician (and I'm only 17), I solve Rubik's cubes by logic, I play Magic: the Gathering, one of my favorite maths is calculus, and lots of other stuff it doesn't take into account that are geeky in the extreme.

IT technician? Then you probably know what I mean when I say:

There are 10 kinds of people; those that understand binary and those that don't.

Bah, 48%. Too much literature, and it doesn't allow for anything to ever counteract geekiness. (And who doesn't know the name of the dragon in the Hobbit?)

I wish I had mad skills enough to convert insane decimal numbers such as 461 to binary in my head. I have to use paper and pencil.

Now hexadecimal.... yep. That's fun too.

Bah, 48%. Too much literature, and it doesn't allow for anything to ever counteract geekiness. (And who doesn't know the name of the dragon in the Hobbit?)I know. Yeah, I used to be the sort of person who read 10 books a month, but I'm limited as to what the libraries have, and reading my own books over and over... gets boring.

The dragon is called Smaug. The ship from Firefly is Serenity. Facts like this are why I got an 88%.

As for binary jokes, I actually heard that one in my first computer class. Ever. It has stuck with me since.

*has written short stories about a 40k-based Dystopian society*
*uses the word "Grok" in conversation*
*still is the geekiest one here*

Crap, simu'd.

Mostly because I don't know things about computers.

Also, where are the RPG questions?

Only 54%. I'm more nerd.I'm a little bit of everything.

Lots of geek, lots of nerd, lots of dork too.

Yeah, I'm incredibly socially inept, but that comes with being shy and no one wanting to talk to me. The cherry on the whipped cream is that I have an intense social phobia. I have a stutter, and it makes me nervous to look people in the eye.

@ Em: 22% Cuteness-Bomb.

I got exactly 50% geek. Not that I was specifically trying to get a nice even number, divisible by five and if possible by ten. That would be a weird thing to do. >.>

The problem with geek tests like that is the insane number of memes available for geeks to specialize in. You've got your anime geeks (who can specialize in shonen, magical girls series, or whatever), RPG and wargame geeks (mostly DnD-based, but there's the large 40K contingent, White Wolfers, etc.), thinky video game geeks (the Korean Starcraft players), spastic video game geeks (i pwnz u nubz!), math geeks (anyone who gets all the math jokes in xkcd), movie geeks (Star Wars and beyond), TV geeks (Stargate vs. Babylon 5 vs. Battlestar Galactica vs. ...), comic geeks, obsessive-about-one-particular-real-world-topic geeks (like the people who know the exact dimensions of every armored vehicle used in WWII, or the ones who can name not only every bone in the human body, but every bone in various animals), and probably more types of geeks who are angry that I didn't put them on this list.

Yeah, but there are 10 kinds of people in the world as well.
Those who understand ternary, those who don't, and those who confuse it with binary.

Anyway, I'm 70% geek. But really, most of those questions are nerd questions, not geek questions. And I'm a total nerd, so...

Bah, only 54%.

But that test is far too simple, it leaves out too many potential signs of geekiness. You really need something like This test (http://www.innergeek.us/geek-test.html) or, even better, This book (http://www.amazon.com/Are-You-Geek-Ways-Find/dp/038534015X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200117089&sr=8-1) (which I, sadly, got on my birthday one or two years ago) to get a true measure.

Icewalker

57%.

I'm a nerd, not a geek. I can't do too much with technology (more than most people, but not by much). I am taking programming, but I don't look into other things about it. I excel primarily at math and science. ie, skipped a year of math, in honors math, getting one of the highest grades in the class and I don't study for tests or try particularly hard. Also, taking AP Chemistry (although I'm not actually doing great: High B/Low A) next year AP Physics and the next Honors Anatomy.

By the way, that other test (the one in green/black with check-boxes) is very out-of-date...lots of things missing on it that should be there. Like some extra shows in the 'I watch' section, stuff like BSG...I got a 30.5%.

25%, thanks to my obsession with reading. My complete hopelessness with any kind of technology brought my score crashing down. To be honest, I should've got more, seeing as I'm writing a fantasy novel in my spare time, I love to read manga and watch anime, I would play DnD if I knew anyone else who did, and I frequently go and write messages on forums like this one.

In another of these sort of tests, I was told I was half-geek, half-hippy, which I think is a lot more accurate.

You've got a point there.

I still achieved "Extreme Geek" on the green-and-black one.

14%, lowest score so far :) I have some geekish interests, I just don't have the consuming passion for them that I see as the definining quality of geekhood (but that's crossing over to the other thread... I'll go post there).

EDIT: I only now realise there are different quizzes being posted here. I got 14% on the green and black one... the other one seems much too short and off-target to give a fair result. And out of date. I mean, who doesn't use e-mail in this day and age???
