Ever since I've purchased the book Tome of Magic, I've been somewhat disappointed and depressed at the attempt of three new magic systems in one book. Fluffily, I LOVE every class in there, especially the truenamer! Unfortunately, the only real playable class is the binder, and even then I often look at it as a dip class for the myriad of different abilities you can get from it.
Anyways, back on topic, I've scanned plenty of boards searching furiously for a truenamer fix, but never really found a fix that I'm partial to however, I have found a few rules in some of the fixes I like (such as using truespeak as a move action and removing the law of resistance). Most fixes, however, I find avoid the biggest problems with the truenamer: A truespeak DC that doesn't revolve around an opponent's CR (a first level "Human" commoner's basic truename [not personal truename] should be no harder to pronounce than a level 15 human commoner's) and a lack of truenames.
So, I was hoping a few things:
- Perhaps some members of the community could throw ideas at me and we'll see what I/we can come up with.
- Perhaps some people would be interested in converting choice spells to utterances.
- Perhaps some people would like making new utterances.
Right now, my major focus (as next week I am free of anything and I'm young besides) is trying to rework the truename system to a workable state. I love the idea but, and it's been said before, it's been executed horribly. I would love some help from the community, and I'm sure all of those who love the truename system will be eager to help.
