You know, I just had a moment of illumination...

If any villain or PC ever takes ranks in Spot, they'll be able to rule the OotS universe. Anybody agree?

Actually, I think this case would require a search check. Maybe a spot check to notice that something is 'wrong' to give them a reason to search.

So yeah, clearly, Spot, Listen, and Search are hardly taken by OOTSversers

It should be noted that most classes don't get Spot as a class skill. Rogues, monks, and rangers do, but they're often considered weaker than, say, the spellcasting classes. And you'll note that Haley, at least, gets good use out of her Spot ranks.

Oh, yeah, and druids get it, too, because God forbid (or the abstract forces of nature forbid, at least) that druids have any weak point whatsoever.

well it's more haley is very good at using her hide and move silently, she is a rogue after all.

It appears that spot, listen, and search are not just cross-class, but outright forbidden to all major characters. This allows any number of jokes when they can't see the obvious, and so it is not going to be corrected.

Probably not, but if Rich adds a villain with a high Spot check, the Order is screwed.

Yeah, pretty much. Unless they get killed by unnoticed bandits before the villain can get to them.

Perhaps it's not a common skill like Spot, perhaps the skill they are lacking is Spot the Obvious. It's a trained skill only, and the only one who can buy ranks are people outside the fourth wall.
