So, the players are causally minding their business in a major metropolitan area of their homeland and.....oh gosh darnit, the Kaiju show up. Well, that just sucks, doesn't it?

So, offer your ideas for inserting GIANT MONSTERS ATTACKING CITIES in game and how to handle them in a roleplayingly pleasing manner.

You mean like this little fella (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/tarrasque.htm)? Or most of these (http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/epicMonstersAndObstacles.htm)?

Three bucks. Not really all that great... but I've wasted $3 on more useless stuff before. :smalltongue:

The sample encounter for the Garngrath from Monster Manual V practically has a Kaiju scenario. A CR 20 monster has crashed three cities already, and it's coming to get the one you're currently in. It can fire a 20th CL prismatic spray as a swift action at will, and it has a dimensional shield that gives it a big deflection AC bonus and a 20% miss chance. Its roar also deals massive sonic damage and levels any terrain around it. It doesn't have the Tarrasque's tenacity, but I sure think it's a lot more destructive in terms of collateral damage.

Isn't there an actual Kaiju template in the Fiend Folio or MM2? Basically Dire++.

Upper_Krust does similar with his homebrew stacking Dire templates. Take any creature in the MM, add template until sufficient HUEGness and squashosity is achieved.

I think naming the location Tokyo should do fine

MM2, it's the Titanic Creature template

I bet Cloverfield could take on the Tarrasque, but lets save that can o' worms for next year

I say you make the main monster invulnerable, and way above the appropriate encounter level. Its a fear thing, right? So you have to instill a level of helplessness

Well, the Garngrath has DR/epic and a 20% miss chance. It can also plane shift once per day. D: I'd say that's pretty darn invulnerable for lower-than-epic characters.
