My friend and I are working on a webcomic (yet another one, oh boy!) in the OotS style in Inkscape. We need an effect that will make the comic looked like it's aged for while. (The particular issue is not made yet.) I think that I should probably grayscale it, but that doesn't seem like enough. Any suggestions?

Sepia toned.

It makes everything old.

How can I do this in Inkscape?

Long story short, I don't think you can. I generally just greyscale it and put in a picture frame, though greyscale alone could do. All the backstory collections are in black and white.

always wondered...do you do the black+white in Inscape? or in paint after it is done ?

There's a Greyscale effect under Effects -> Colo[u]r

Generally, Inkscape is good for vector graphics, but not for photography effects. For that, you use Gimp or poor lookalikes like Photoshop.

And hey, look: there's a multitude of filters like sepia, defocus, mottle, coffee stain, etc, etc. They are just kind of impossible to do with non-raster (png, jpg, ...) images.

Oh, duh, I can run it through Photshop. Thanks!

What are you trying to make old? I'm curious!
