We've all had DM's Block at least once, if not multiple times. Well, I got it now. Can somebody direct me to a large compilation of adventure ideas? I know about Wizards adventure ideas, and I don't really like their random ideas. I've also seen the 100 adventure ideas in the DMG. Help please?

What exactly are you looking for? Really, all you have to ask yourself is "What would the players enjoy most?" and you're done.

Or, you know, post a vague idea of what is needed and random people will produce ideas for you.

Make the BBEG a Lich Bard.

That's my only idea, unfortunately.

...This thread could be a compilation. Let's get started, then!

1. A peaceful archipelago known for its fishing trade and export has suddenly stopped sending crafts out altogether, causing some minor food shortages in coastal areas. More importantly, it has cut off mainland nobility from specific delicacies. The party is sent as part of a diplomatic contingent to see if recent political difficulties are the cause for this reaction, possibly as bodyguards to the diplomats aboard the ship, or simply as its motley crew.

When the ship enters the open seas, a school of sea serpents attacks, utterly devastating the ship and eating almost everyone on board except, of course, the PCs. The PCs wash ashore near a fishing village of slightly malnourished and very frightened people, who inform them that there's an infestation of powerful sea creatures, and that the streams are similarly infested with piranhas, etc. Eventually the PCs discover that an old Aztech-esque temple in the archipelago's main island is drawing all of these creatures. After destroying the source of this call, the PCs must take a ship and destroy the central source somewhere under an obelisk rising from the ocean, with darker and deeper creatures appearing all the time until they hit the final temple: a musty dungeon crawl with lots of water-based secret areas and mysterious symbols.

A nice water-based campaign with varied settings and exploration opportunities.

Have you seen the Big List of RPG Plots (http://www.io.com/~sjohn/plots.htm)?

I think he means single adventures, not entire arcs.

There's one that is both extremely versatile and extremely easy to implement. which I've ironically gotten off of a similar message board:

A depressed man in the tavern of a large city approaches the PCs and asks for help. He used to be a small-time adventurer, but after a year abroad he comes home to find his tower occupied with his biggest rival. Since good wizard has no proof of ownership and has been gone so long no one remembers him, the law is powerless to help him. He implores the PCs to break into the tower and reach the top floor, where the tower's deed is
(hopefully) still in a secret compartment. Simple Kick-in-the-door dungeons with a mostly linear path ensues.

One I thought up: The players are sent to a frontier town to recover and escort a person of importance, who had been in hiding. When they get there, they learn from the locals that Gnolls have been raiding increasingly, and kidnapped the PoI. Fortunately, the local ranger has found their hideout and offers to lead the players to it. On the way, he sees a specific animal he had been hunting and goes after it. The players must traverse the lair.

It gets weirder though. The cave-complex/ruined fortress is the home of an ancient Minotaur Sorceress Ghost. The Ghost was once a successful general of her kind, but as time went on her own stubborness conflicted her growing senility. She mad several bad choices and her army was defeated, while she died of old age. But her battle lust wasn't sated, and she rose as a ghost. Her first major convert was the Ranger, who was actually a were-znimal (appropriate to the setting) who fell asleep in her cave and was persuaded to join the cause. As her army grew, the minotaur craved battle. She found out from the ranger a group of adventurers were coming, and had the PoI kidnapped to lure the players to her, where she could command her army.

Skirmishes, assasinations, and assaults ensue as the players make their way to the final chamber. There, the Ghost actually possesses the PoI and makes a last stand with her reamining minions, including the Ranger. once all her other minions are defeated, she willingly accepts defeat and releases the PoI. The End.

A kingdom is filled with political intrigue as a group of nobles plans to overthrow the never-seen-in-public-yet-moderately-fair Emperor for their own gain. There's also a subversive cult that regularly practices a ritual from dawn to dusk that causes flashes of light to go through the sky.

Long story short, as the PCs race to the Emperor's chamber to head off the nobles, they learn that the Emperor is actually a Lich who is being restrained by the cult through the ritual which is designed to drain his powers and disrupt his connection to the phylactery thus making a level appropriate encounter for any party.

Actually, I did that in one of my campaigns. What? Don't look at me like that. In addition, He was a homosexual disguising himself as a female, and also pretending to be a cleric. Just goes to show that you can have a bizarre and absurd plot device and the players will go with it.

I find that the best way to get a lot of ideas going is to work from existing NPCs and quests (or if you have no NPCs introduce them, if you have no quests, pull them from the setting). It appears like you have been planning it all along or that the PC's actions at a drastic effect on the world when really it is a lose-lose situation that keeps the problems coming.
