I saw the title and my first thought was Sgt. Pepper.

Looks good so far.

I just heard about this in the ABR thread. Can't say much about this webcomic right now, but I'll read it.

Shades of Gray

Who's Sgt. Pepper?

Anyway, I think I need a better name if it makes people think of somebody named Sgt. Pepper...

Maulrus
2008-01-29, 10:06 PM
It's a Beatles album. One of the lines in the titular song goes, "It was twenty years ago today/Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play." The title me of that line.

I look forward to reading this.

Some of the speech bubbles are sort of off a little bit.

Shades of Gray
2008-01-29, 10:54 PM
Yeah, to tell the truth, this is my first time using bubbles. Most of the time I drew rectangles and pointed with lines from the person to the bubble, I will fix those.

Also, it's my first comic using multiple fingers.

Maulrus

Just in case you didn't know, the Union tool is best for speech bubbles if you're using Inkscape.

Well loyal Shaddow Addict fans. Here's the second intro comic.

Note: These aren't the main characters, they are only gonig to be in the intro/flashback.

Oddly enough, I identify most with the last guy, the young grandfather.

Shades of Gray
2008-01-30, 07:31 PM
He's not a young grandfather. This is happening 50 years in the past. So he appears young in the flashback.

Lyinginbedmon
2008-01-30, 07:56 PM
I know, but I can't quite call him a grandfather because we've only seen him as a young man, but I can't quite call him young because we know he's a grandfather...

So the dad is telling the son a story about the grandfather?

Shades of Gray
2008-01-30, 09:46 PM
Yes-ish.

The story is of the invasion of their village. The story's relevance to him is that his grandpa was involved.

I really like it! Thanks for the interest in The Time Warp Jubilee too. As you do more of these, I've got to say that it's getting better all the time. (Sorry! I really wanted to make more Sgt. Pepper references. Please forgive me!)

Comic 3: They sure are tough

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa279/oliver426/g55510.png

I edited the first two comics as well, just minor detail changes. I made the speech bubbles better. I also made the town more impressive looking.

remember, this is the intro, these aren't the main characters.

Szilard
2008-01-31, 10:11 PM
I wonder who the main characters are?

Shades of Gray
2008-01-31, 10:18 PM
I have 4 so far. However I can't reveal them because "shh it's a secret".

You can however see the main character that's already been posted.

Erik, Arik, Arick, Arock, Irock, Iraq. How did I get there?

Shades of Gray
2008-02-01, 11:19 AM
I think I'll go with Aerik.

also, here's a sneak preview of 4 of the eventual 6 party members.

I get it now, i think I know what is going to happen!

The Main characters listen to the story, and the bad guy from the story comes back after fifty years and now they have to fight him.

Shades of Gray
2008-02-01, 11:27 AM
Almost. Only 2 of those four know the story.

The guy with the jacket is Chaleb's Grand Nephew (or is it great nephew?)

And no, they'll be fighting original villains, not Lord Kyros.

Heh, he looks like the avatar you made for Thymin to represent Dravick, except minus the lute and bow.

Actually, I'd say he looks a lot like the Ulysses avatar you made me, but with a slightly different outfit. (For those of you who have no idea what I'm babbling about, take a gander to the left >.> )

Shades of Gray
2008-02-01, 03:30 PM
I liked the hat I made for thmyin.

And the cape and sword I made for Ulysses.

A lot of the time I take the same stuff from the Adventuring guild, and just stick'em on the guys. The hair I use for most of the main characters are actually based off the avy I made for Ulysses.

Wow, 1/3 of my fans are from the Adventurers Guild. I think that sig link is working:smallbiggrin: .

I just have to make a suggestion. Well, more of a statement really. Or mabye it's contructive critisizem. I have no Idea. You decide.

I think that you should either

a) Make the updates faster

or

b) Make the comics themselves longer

I mean, you haven't even gotten in to the actual story yet. Maybe you should speed things up. That will gain more people interested in reading the comic.

With all due respect

I think thats contructive critisism.

The comic was great btw. I love a good Monty Python parody.

Sorry ,there haven't been any comics.

We did public speaking in school, the project being a speech. The top two of each class get to present to the entire grade, and the winner of that competition gets to represent our school at a big important competition.

I came third in my class, although I didn't hear about that detail until yesterday. One of the top two people in our class had to drop out, and yesterday I found out I had to present again. I had to quickly get ready and get my stuff together/practice, so there was no time for the webcomic. There may be a comic tommorow, but probably not.
