Hey. I just found the duskblade class and while looking over it, I was wondering if someone could help me with a few claifications:

1) Weapon: From what I read, the duskblade does NOT gain simple weapon proficiencies, but has the option of taking simple weapon profficiencies as a feat, correct?

2) Armor: From what I understand, a duskblade gains no spell failure from medium armor at 4th level. Would this include heavy armor made of mithril?

3) Spells: Would I be correct in assuming that this is the "spells known" table for a duskblade? Taking into account spells per level on the spell list:
{table=head]Level|0|1st|2nd|3rd|4th|5th
1|2+Int|2|
2|3+Int|3|
3|4|4|
4|4|5|
5|4|6|1
6|4|7|2
7|4|8|3
8|4|9|4
9|4|10|5|1
10|4|11|6|2
11|4|12|7|3
12|4|13|8|4
13|4|14|9|5|1
14|4|15|10|6|2
15|4|16|11|7|3
16|4|17|12|8|4
17|4|18|13|9|5|1
18|4|18|14|10|6|2
19|4|18|15|11|7|3
20|4|18|16|12|8|4[/table]

meaning that, by level 3 (or lower), a duskblade knows all possible 0 level spells and by level 17, all possible 1st level spells?

Having fought with the rule2 on the spells to get a spreadsheet character sheet working, I'll answer that and offer my opinions on the other two.

1. Yes, I imagine he could take simple weapon proficiency as a feat.

2. Since mithril armor is one weight category lighter, I imagine that is true.

3. No. The way I read the rules wording is this:

L1: Duskblade gets 2+int L0 spells and 2 L1 spells.
L2 and beyond: Duskblade can choose exactly one (1) more spell from among all the levels of spells available to him/her at that time. This means that at level 5, the duskblade could choose a L0 (assuming there still were any (s)he didn't have), a L1, or a L2 spell. However, (s)he could NOT choose one each from L1 and L2.

1) yes simple weapon proficiency gives you proficiency with all weapons. Although i'm sure a lack of simple weapons proficiency is an error by wizards. How could you be proficient with martial weapons but not simple weapons?

2) Heavy armor made from mithral is in fact medium armor.

...

I second MariettaGecko on the third question.

From the WotC errata:

"Page 19 – Duskblade Class Features;
Weapon and Armor Proficiency
[Omission]
The “Weapon and Armor Proficiency” Class feature
for duskblades should state: “Duskblades are
proficient with all simple and martial weapons.”"
