My current plan is to take 5 levels of Paladin (Charging Smite and Holy Warrior) and at least 8 levels of Pious Templar (CD). The problem is that I want to maximise my capacity as the cavalry charger but I also want that quick spellcasting progression of Pious Templar also.

It'll be an Eberron campaign, so there are no deities with lance as his/her favoured weapon.

I thought about taking a level dip in Warblade to use Weapon Aptitude to change weapon focus and specialisation when I get them. Using this method however, will mean that I no longer qualify for PT levels since I do not have Weapon Focus feat in the deity's favoured weapon.

Is there any way to get around this problem?

Edit: Right, here goes the magical word: PLEASE? :smallfrown:

Find a deity with spear as thier favored weapon and as the DM if a lance would count?

just carry an extra lance and use that on charges. weapon focus and weapon spec arent really that helpful. Put the valourus enchant on your lance (double damage on a charge) for that extra oomph.

Another option would be to get a weapon with sizing and the enchant that lets you change what type of weapon your weapon is.

That way you only have to carry one weapon and you can change it to a lance when you charge. Add in the mettline weapon enchant so you can change the weapon matireal so you can bypass adamantine/cold iron/ silver DR all in one weapon.

+1 valours mettline lance and have a wizard cast greater magic weapon on it.

Also try and get the Dragon Cohort Feat, so you can have a nasty mount. Dunno if this apply to Eberron, I hope it does.

Dragon Mount can also help you. The Dragonnell seems better than the average horse, although it looks silly... :smalltongue:
