basically, I'm looking at something with DR and fire resistance.

If a mech uses a weapon that deals 10d6 fire damage, what damage is done to a creature as such.

Fire Resistance 20
DR/10 Slashing

Looking at average damage of 35. Would the creature take 15 or 5?

Resistance is like DR to energy damage.

DR does not apply to energy damage(IE fire)

15. DR has no effect on energy damage.

I always thought that 'normal' DR only worked against physical attacks and that energy resistance worked against energy attacks...such that magic would bypass DR/whatever, but would need to contend with 'ER'...a spell such as Ice storm that dealt half physical and half cold would be subject to both up to the half that is such.

Then again...I could be wrong...

I believe it would take 15 damage, as I don't think energy damage is affected by damage reduction.

Edit: Aah! Triple ninja'd!

I figured as much, but as it's a ranged attack weapon instead of a spell, thought I'd ask.

Note, however, that hardness applies to (almost) everything. You don't often see a creature with hardness, though.
