Team Ready, Aim, Fire! XV - Jailbreak [game over]

This is Team RAF, the team-based variant of RAF. You can find RAF Classic, the original, free-for-all version of the game, here.

Hello, and welcome to the fifteenth game of the team-based spin-off of Silkenfist's Ready, Aim, Fire!

The theme of this game will be a Jailbreak. The teams are the Prisoners and the Guards of a quasi-high security prison. It's basically set in modern day Trogland, but anachronistic/analocistic elements are fine.

Registration is open until Friday, 18:00 GMT. If you want to join a specific team, please specify which one. If you don't specify a team, I will add you to a random team.

The Rules:
The basics of the game are explained in this comic (http://home.planet.nl/~hdgoede/tdg/StickArt/TeamRAF/Instructions.png).

Other rules:
- If you don't submit an action before the deadline, you time out. A time out is counted as an airshot. If you time out twice in a row, you die.
- You can send multiple actions in advance, but only do this when it's really necessary.
- The sign-up period is four days, and each round generally takes three days. When there are only a few players left, rounds take only two days, and I start writing as soon as I have all the actions.

After that Shifty sets up shop, throwing dictionaries at any guards that get to close!

As luck would have it, one of Fullbladder's guitar's strings breaks just as the jailbreak begins. As he replaces it with another from his secret stash, a devilish thought rises to his mind. He takes the string and prepare to throttle people. Prefferably guards, but he isn't all that picky.

As he gets up he begins to mumble the lyrics to a badly made song about Big Bad Jim MacGuffin.

I've decided to add a little meta-game to Team RAF. You can now bet fictional gold pieces on the game, and win money off people's gruesome deaths!

You start with 10 gold pieces. You bet against the odds listed below; basically, if the chance for someone to win is 1 to 2, you get two gold pieces for every one you bet if that someone wins.

You don't have to play Team RAF to bet, but you can't bet on yourself or your grudge partner (if you have one) if you do.

More rules might follow later, but for now, here are the current odds:

If this betting game is successful, there will be medals for the people with the most GPs.

No, it doesn't. Betting on yourself only applies to the 'open' bets; the one where you pick a player yourself.


One more thing: if you lose all your money, you can get more by borrowing from the loan shark. The shark will lend ten gold pieces to anyone who is broke, but you have to pay him twenty gold pieces at the end of the round. You can always get the ten gold pieces to bet with, even if you still owe the shark money.

The chances of that happening are significantly higher, actually. But the game can never actually end in a draw; if that happens, both players survive.

One more thing: if you lose all your money, you can get more by borrowing from the loan shark. Aperture Science Laboratories would like to inform you that you have been chosen as test subjects for the Aperture Science Enrichment Program. Please step through the door to your left. When the tests are complete, cake will be served.” “Hold on,” says Paris, and takes a cell phone out of her pocket. “Daddy? Hi, it’s me. Yeah, still in prison. Daddy, there’s a robot voice here that says it’s from... uh...” “Aperture Science Laboratories. Please step through...” “Yeah, Appleture Science or whatever. Can you buy it for me? Come on, you said the same thing about buying Microsoft last week! Aww, daddy, come on! Thanks, daddy.” “Would you please...” “Shut up, robot voice. Sorry, daddy. No, I wasn’t talking to you. Can you tell the people at Appleture to delete the robot voice thing?” “Now wait just... *bzzt*”

Jim, the guy in the watchtower, is aiming his rifle at one of the prisoners. “Die, Hilton! Die!” He’s about to fire when he hears something bleat behind him. As he looks around, he sees a llama charging at him. As he lies bleeding on the ground below, Shifty and the Knee Capper stab him to death with plastic forks. Atreyu looks down the tower to see the mess he’s made, when Raiser B1ade sneaks up on him and pushes him over the edge. Shifty looks up at Atreyu’s desperate bleating when he sees Hexed, the prison cook, at the top of the tower, pouring a kettle of scalding hot gruel down on him. Hexed turns around to climb down the ladder, but Icepick and Zar Peter block his way. “What do you want?” asks the cook, “I’m only the prison cook! I never did anything to hurt you!” “Oh no?” says Zar Peter, “what about your ‘Gruel Surprise’?” “Crap, you got me there.” Icepick grabs the cook, and says, “You know why they call me Icepick?” “No,” squeaks Hexed. “Because I’ve killed twenty-eight people with...” “...an ice pick?” “No, with a gun,” says Icepick, and pushes the cook down the tower. “Seriously, what kind of a weapon is an ice pick?” “Look, guys, could you please get out of my watch tower? I’m trying to snipe some prisoners here,” says purple gelatinous cube o’ Doom. “Sorry,” say the escapees, and climb back down the ladder.

“Awesome,” says Captain van der Decken, “what else can it do?” “Look,” says Kasz, pointing at the hamster, “it can also stand on its hands.” “Can I hold it?” “Sure.” Captain van der Decken takes the hamster out of its cage. “Ow!” he shouts, dropping the hamster, “it bit me!” “Get it! Get it!” The hamster makes a run for it, and the two guards go after it. “God, I hope Percy doesn’t...” “Doesn’t what?” asks Percy Wetmore, who just walked around the corner. “Oh, nothing,” says Kasz, trying to get between Percy and the hamster, who is now trying to dig a hole through the prison wall. “Wait, what’s that?” says Percy. He walks past Kasz, and stomps his boot down on the hamster. “Aww, man! That was my hamster!” says Kasz. “I’m going to tell the head warden!” “Don’t bother,” says Percy, “I’ve already had a talk with him. Oh, and by the way, you’re fired.”

“Are you sure this is safe?” asks Aemoh as he climbs the ladder. “Sure,” says Kantur. “Look,” says Castaras, “the ladder I can understand. But what are we going to do with these paper tissues?” “It was only a few apples!” says Exachix to himself. As the prisoners reach the top of the prison wall, Kantur says, “Right, that went great. Now the hard part.” “Why do they lock me up for stealing a few apples?” “And the hard part is?” asks Castaras. “Getting to the other side of the moat, of couse, while at the same time avoiding the laser defence system.” “Don’t worry about that,” says Aemoh. “They weren’t even ripe!” “Why not?” “You’ll see in three... two... one...” Suddenly, disco music comes blaring out of the prison’s intercom speakers, and the laser turret stars shooting multi-coloured lasers into the air. “The Bee Gees?” “Twenty years for stealing apples!” “Right,” says Kantur, “now that the lasers are dealt with, we should be reasonably safe.” “But how will we get across the moat?” asks Castaras. “Simple,” says Kantur, “we each hold a tissue above our heads, and jump off the wall.” “I was only hungry!” “Oh shut up, Exachix. You killed two hundred and twenty-eight people when you robbed that apple stall.” “Twenty-seven! That last one choked on an apple!” “An apple you stuffed down his windpipe.” “Not the point!” “Anyway, let’s go. I’ll cover you while you jump.” Aemoh, Castaras, and Exachix hold on to their tissues, and jump off the wall. They drop like bricks and land in the shark-infested moat below. “Uh... okay, time to think up a new plan,” says Kantur.

“I really hope I don’t run across any escapees,” says Draken loudly. “That would be really bad, because I am completely unarmed! It would be really easy for an escaped prisoner to kill me and take my keys!” “How fortunate,” says the Bushranger, pulling a knife and holding it against Draken’s throat. “Of course, my companion, who is standing right behind you, is armed.” Dr. Bath clubs the Bushranger over the head with his oversized torch, and says, “That went well. Let’s do it again!” “Right. A-hem. Oh dear, I seem to have left my pistol in my locker. Oh well, I will just finish my patrol and hope I don’t get attacked by any escapees who are after the keys to the gate, which are in my left pocket. No, wait, my right pocket, how silly of me.” Dr. Bath waits around a corner for more prisoners to attack Draken when he suddenly hears nothing behind him. He immediately continues standing around the corner, and is stabbed to death by Hoggy and Mustiado. “You were right,” says Mustiado, “this ‘stealth’ thing really does work!” “Indeed,” says Freshmeat the Clown, and squirts the football player in the eye with the oversized flower pinned to his colourful coat. Meanwhile, Balford sneaks up on Hoggy, and beats the donkey to death with his standard issue prison guard oversized baseball bat.

Almighty Salmon, Cristo Meyers and easyname burst into the head warden’s office, and start shooting. “We’ll hold them off, Mr. Ink,” says James Bond, bullets zipping past him. “I suggest you get out of here.” “Good idea,” says Ink, and jumps out of the window. Unfortunately, the office is on the fifth floor, and the head warden falls to his death. “M is not going to like this,” says Bond. The wall behind them is riddled with holes, but Bond and Skippy haven’t been hit a single time. “Uh, Mr. Bond?” says radikalskippy, raising his voice above the sound of the gunfire. “Yes?” “I think the bad guys are getting impatient. One of them just left.” “Well, let’s not keep them waiting any longer, shall we?” Bond and Skippy draw their guns, and shoot Cristo Meyers and easyname with a single shot each.

“Woooooo!” shouts Destro Yersul as he drives the prison jeep through the mess hall. Big Jim Macguffin and someonenonotyou have hitched a ride on the jeep, and the three prisoners are heading for the gates. “Hold it!” shouts Shadow. “Step out of the jeep with your hands raised!” PirateMonk, Shadow, and Jose the Mexican guard are pointing their guns at the escapees, and Jose is eating a burrito. “Pointing guns at us, are you?” says Big Jim. “Si,” says Jose, “we are.” “Well, look what we found in the jeep!” The prisoners draw guns too, and aim them at the guards. PirateMonk looks around, and says, “Look, let’s just stay calm here, okay? Let’s just put down our guns and...” Suddenly, everyone starts shooting, and three seconds later, everyone is dead.

Fleeing Coward and pingcode20 are guarding the armoury, when two escapees attack them. Lord Fullbladder tries to garrotte Fleeing Coward with a guitar string, while Neodan282 points a gun at pingcode20. “Give me the keys!” “But...” “Now!” Pingcode20 hands over the keys, and says, “I really wouldn’t do that if I were you.” “Shut up,” says Neodan282, and opens the door. Suddenly, an enormous heap of weapons and ammunition falls over and crushes the escapee. “Told you so,” says pingcode20. “Here, Fleeing Coward, take this,” he says, handing the blue-faced guard a large scimitar. Lord Fullbladder lets go of the guitar string as he discovers the large sword sticking out of his chest. “Why do we...” says Fleeing Coward, coughing and wheezing, “...why do we have a big scimitar in the armoury?” “It’s for when someone tries to choke you with a guitar string. Duh.”

“Well, well,” says Fredricus, “what have we here? The famous Hannibal Lecter.” “No, I’m not. I’m... uh... Zorro.” “Nice try, Mr. Lecter. But the fact that you ate your cell mate last week leads me to suspect that you are, in fact, not Zorro.” “Nixon, then? Yes, I’m Richard Nixon.” “Oh, come on. Nixon never ate anybody.” “That’s what they want you to believe. It’s all an FBI conspiracy, you know.” Fredricus groans. “I’m an FBI agent, Mr. Lecter.” “Oh.” “Now, we have conclusive evidence linking you and Mr. Fisher here to the case of...” “Officer!” “What is it, Mr. Fisher?” “Hannibal is trying to eat me!” “Mr. Lecter, eating your co-conspirator will not help your case. Please let go of his ear. Now, where was I... ah, yes. Mr. Lecter, where were you on... good god, what is it now?” “I’m hungry,” says Hannibal. “Then you should have eaten something before the interrogation started!” “I did! I ate someone... uh, something... just now. But I’m still hungry.” “Well, that solves the case of the missing prison guard. Now, I believe you and Mr. Fisher...” “Officer?” “Yes, Mr. Fisher?” “Have you seen my hand?” “What the... Mr. Lecter, give Mr. Fisher his hand back right now!” “I can’t. I ate it.” “Right, that does it! I’ve had just about enough of you two!” Fredricus howls, turns into a werewolf, and eats Hannibal and Sam Fisher.

“There he is!” shouts huyneo. “Quick, after him!” Huyneo and Yspoch follow the escapee down one of the many corridors of the prison. “We’ve got him! This is a dead end!” The guards turn a corner, but Mad Wizard is waiting for them; he raises his crowbar, and clobbers the guards to death.

Balford is sitting on a chair, snoring loudly. The head warden had told him to guard cell block B, but it turned out there wasn’t much for him to do – all the prisoners turned out to be missing. As Balford dreams happy dreams about penguins, two prisoners sneak up on him. “This is him,” says Kantur, “he has the keys.” “Right,” says dallas-dakota. He takes off his shoe, and stuffs it into Balford’s mouth, choking the guard. “Alright, now you look for the keys while I look for internal organs.” As the escapees walk out on to the courtyard, carrying two kidneys, a liver, a spleen, and a key, a guard up in a watchtower spots them. “Purple gelatinous cube o’ Doom, quick!” says Raiser B1ade, “Those guys are making off with Balford’s spleen!” Purple gelatinous cube o’ Doom aims his high-powered rifle, and shoots dallas-dakota through the head. “Got him!” he says, and falls down the tower. Mad Wizard grins at Raiser B1ade, and runs away.

“Do you even know what you’re doing?” asks Draken as Freshmeat the Clown fumbles with the wiring of the laser gun. “Sure,” says Freshmeat, “just give me a minute and I’ll have it up and running again.” “And make sure it stops playing Bee Gees songs whenever it activates,” says Fredricus. Freshmeat steps off his unicycle, and says, “That should do it. Let’s see what happens if we...” Suddenly a multicoloured laser vaporizes the clown, while the prison intercom plays ‘that’s the way I like it’ by KC and the Sunshine Band. Sparks fly from the wall-mounted laser gun as it blows Fredricus and Draken apart, and with a loud bang, it explodes.

The Knee Capper stalks through the prison. He sneaks into the head warden’s office, in search of the warden’s prison key. “Looking for this?” asks a voice behind him. As he turns around, he sees James Bond standing behind him, holding the key. “Bond!” The Knee Capper draws a gun, and aiming it at James Bond, he says, “Now you die, Mr. Bond.” “Oh, I don’t think so,” says Bond. “If you have watched any Bond films at all, you should know that this is the part where the bond girl sneaks up on the villain and stabs him in the back.” Suddenly, the Knee Capper falls over with a big knife sticking out of his back. Behind him, dressed in a revealing dress, stands pingcode20. “Correct me if I’m wrong,” says pingcode20, “but isn’t a bond girl supposed to be... well, a girl?” “Do you see any pretty girls here?” “Look at me! I’m hot!” says Paris Hilton. “I’ll be the bond girl!” “Uh... no thanks,” says James Bond, and runs away. “James Bond... doesn’t like me? But I’m, like, the hottest chick in the world!” “You can be the pingcode20 girl if you like,” says pingcode20. “I mean, like, Eva Green was the last bond girl! I’m way hotter than her!” “Well, actually, she’s pretty hot,” says pingcode20. “Noooooooo!” screams Paris Hilton, and bursts into flame. “Sheesh, talk about overreacting,” says pingcode20.

“Aww, man! Not the isolation cell again!” Zar Peter moves his little ball-and-chain to a square on the corner of the board. “My turn!” says Fleeing Coward. “A 7! That means I land on... cell block C!” “Ha, that’s 200 cigarettes!” says Indurain. “I still prefer normal Monopoly,” says Captain van der Decken. “Why?” says Indurain, “I like Prison Monopoly. I mean, dealing in real estate is hardly a theme a convict like me can relate to.” “Uh... Indy, weren’t you convicted for real estate fraud?” “Not the point. Anyway, I rolled a 5, so I get a Chance card. Let’s see... aww, man! ‘Prison life doesn’t agree with you. Hang yourself in your cell.’” “Tough luck, Indy,” says Fleeing Coward. Indurain stands up, and says, “Well, so long, guys. Nice knowin’ ya. Oh, and Fleeing Coward?” “Yes?” “Good luck with the jailbreak.” “Oh, yes, thanks. Good luck hanging yourself.” “So, whose turn is it?” asks Zar Peter.

“By the Emperor, what is this place?” Guardsman #51759 wanders through the prison, his lasrifle at the ready. “It looks like a prison, but it’s much too luxurious for that...” Suddenly, he hears something behind him. “Aaaah! It’s... I don’t know what it is, but I’ll shoot it anyway!” The guardsman fires wildly at the Mexican midget, to no effect. “Will you stop shining that light in my eyes? It’s mildly irritating.” “Aaaah! It’s invulnerable to my mighty lasrifle! I’m going to die!” The guardsman drops his gun and runs away, straight into one of the prison’s magma pits. “I wonder what that was all about,” says the midget, picking up the lasrifle. “Neat, a laser pointer!”

“Oh crap!” says radikalskippy. “It’s Icepick! He’s escaped!” The mass murder is standing on the prison wall, looking for a way to cross the moat. “Hmm,” say Skippy, “I think I have a plan.” The guard sneaks off, undetected by Icepick. Five minutes later, he returns with a very large piece of fireworks. He sneaks up to Icepick, tapes the giant rocket to his back, and lights the fuse. Icepick, still oblivious to the guard’s presence, sniffs the air. “Hmm, I smell something burning...” Suddenly, there is a loud hissing noise and lots of smoke, and Icepick is launched into the air. “I’m free!” he shouts, as the rocket carries him over the moat. Radikalskippy looks at the flying escapee, and grins as the rocket explodes in a riot of colour.

You’re going back to your cell right now!” Suddenly, Zar Peter pulls out a gun and shoots radikalskippy. “It was my turn, wasn’t it?” “No, you just landed on Chance, Peter.” “Oh, right, I got the ‘a guard tries to put you back in your cell, shoot the guard’ card. Silly me. Then it’s your turn, Fleeing Coward.” “Okay. I got a 5... hey, I land on Chance too! ‘You are attacked by a Mexican midget armed with pinecones. Kill him with a carefully prepared pit trap’.” “¡Ay caramba!” he hears behind him, followed by the sound of a Mexican midget armed with pinecones hitting the concrete floor of a pit trap. “Got him,” says Fleeing Coward. “Your turn, Captain.” “Okay,” says Captain van der Decken, “but first I’m going to get a few beers.” “Good idea,” says Fleeing coward. “¡Ay caramba!” he hears behind him, followed by the sound of Captain van der Decken falling on top of a Mexican midget armed with pinecones lying on the concrete floor of a pit trap.

Chance. ‘You are eaten by the prison pet.’ Yeah, right. Pingcode20 heads over to the prison fridge to get a few beers, as he bumps into Zar Peter. The prisoner takes off a glove, and slaps pingcode20 with it. “I challenge you to a duel, sir.” “What the...” “Choose your weapon.” “Hold on, I’m just here to get a beer!” “Then beer shall be the weapon.” “A beer duel? That’s ridiculous! ‘Beer at high noon’? ‘Beerfight at the O.K. Corral’? It’s absurd! Why don’t we just use guns?” “As you wish,” says Zar Peter, and pulls out an antique flintlock pistol. He turns around, and starts walking, counting his steps. “Hold on, what are you doing?” says pingcode20. “Eight... nine... ten!” says Zar Peter. He turns around, fires his pistol, and hits pingcode20 right between the eyes.

“Another chance card!” says Fleeing Coward. “’A relative has just passed away, and has left you 15 tons of dynamite.’ Wow! Thanks, mad Uncle Herbert! Sorry, guys, but I’m going to escape.” “That’s alright,” says James Bond, “You were winning anyway.”

Fleeing Coward pulls the cart full of dynamite to the prison wall, and lights the fuse. “I hope 15 tons is enough,” he says, and steps back. Five seconds later, a huge explosion rocks the prison, and the entire south wing is turned into a very large crater.

Back in cell block B, James Bond is waiting for someone to play monopoly with, when he hears someone behind him say, “Oh dear, I seem to have lost my microfilm with Russian state secrets! I must have dropped it somewhere!” Bond gets up and runs toward the voice. Suddenly, the floor around him drops away, leaving him on a small pillar of stone with magma all around it. “How on earth did all this magma get here?” he asks, as a small man walks into view. “Mr Bond! I see you have fallen for my little trap,” says Zar Peter. “It would seem so,” says James Bond. “Now prepare to die, Bond!” says Zar Peter, pulling a lever on the wall. The pillar of stone slowly lowers into the magma. “You won’t get away with this, Zar Peter!” “What are you going to do, Bond? Shoot me?” “Good idea,” says James Bond. He pulls out his gun, and shoots Zar Peter in the chest. “And now for my escape,” he says, pushing a button on his Rolex®. A small toothbrush pops out of the watch. “Damn you, Q!”

I've changed the first-round casualty award a bit. You now get two points for dying in the first round - that way, there are fewer ties, and you don't lose your medal for surviving the first round even once.

You're right about the seppuku medal, though. It seems I wrote you down for one point four games ago. I'll fix it right away.

As you can read in the text under the medals, the black medal doesn't exactly work that way. You used to get one point per first round death and lose one every time you survived the first round. Now you get two points per first round death.
