Is that the same as derivation?

I kid.

Really, though, is it that great of a spell? Fort save vs. 77 damage? Aren't there better spells out there to be hitting things with that don't allow a save, or they do allow one, totally shut down the opposition on a failed save?

Nevermind. 2d6/level is really a lot of damage. MY BAD.

It's also one of the few "Blaster" spells with some utility use.

Removing 10 cubic feet of material from stuff in ~3 seconds? That's always a neat trick.

Its Batman's Anti-Undead repellent.

It actually disintegrates 1,000 cubic feet of material. 10 cubic feet would be pretty useless.

...Uh, no, no it doesn't. Its just the 10 cubic feet.

10x10x10=1000. He's right, I mistyped.

10 x 10 x 10 cube, I think he means (people seem to have trouble with Volume).

The best part of it is, of course, that the only blasting spells Batman bothers with are Desintegrate and Orb of X, which are Transmutation and Conjuration, respectively. Evocation, the blasting school, is pretty much only good for Contingency, which Batman gets through Shadow Evocation anyways (which is unaffected by its partial reality). Poor, poor Evocation.

Ok, it's totally inferior to flesh to stone in that it's not an automatic KO, and it requires a ranged touch attack. However, it works on the undead, which very few fort save spells can claim to have (and in the absence of random bonuses, undead Fort saves are just HD/3, which is very poor), and it takes out walls faster than a frenzied berserker with a mattock of the titans.

If you absolutely must kill something with direct damage, it's probably your best bet as a caster.

It's a good RP spell. Just imagine someone disintegrating your arm.
